2 out of 5 eggsUnexpeted Poor Performance

Pros: Plenty of USB ports
Full number pad

Cons: Slow
Missed keystrokes
Glossy screen

Other Thoughts: Mostly I want to comment on the speed of this machine. I am unable to start an RDP connection in a reasonable amount of time while running literally anything else. I am not commenting on the speed of the RDP connection once established, just the setup. Also for any remote management of machines, even in the same network, it will take approximately 5 minutes to log in to a remote console. To me this is completely unacceptable. The machine also misses several keystrokes if you type remotely fast. I am unsatisfied with this purchase.

4 out of 5 eggsgood

Pros: Good for Microsoft office, and indie gaming. Plays counter strike global offensive at 80+ fps, minecraft 60+ fps. If your streaming on it get something more powerful. Good for presentation designing and much more. This is a good laptop to start out with. Decent build quality. CPU stays 98% of the time 2.5GhZ.

Cons: Mouse pad feels like it's going to fall off. Mousepad button once did. CD drive feels a bit low build quality. CPU cooler and the power supply scream. The laptop can get loud for 60% of the time.

Other Thoughts: Use a mouse for this product instead of the pad. A mouse is thousands of times more responsive. Cd drive works decently. Just a suggestion download movies and apps. Such as netflix, hulu, crackle, iTunes, EA origin, Steam, and microsofts version of the app store.

3 out of 5 eggsNot bad, but nothing special

Pros: one of the fastest I3 processors at this time
not much bloatware
full number pad on keyboard
USB 3.0 port
long battery life
hdmi and vga outputs
relatively low wattage power source

Cons: keyboard misses keystrokes
offset keyboard due to full number pad
only ONE usb 3.0 port
chassis a bit flimsy

Other Thoughts: I bought this primarily as a web-surfing laptop. We were not ready to transition to a tablet yet. By default, the Windows 8 Live Tiles will consume about 25% of the cpu. Turn them off to free up your processor cycles. Screen is glossy, not matte. The full number pad is nice until you blindly put your hands on the keyboard and realize that all the letters are off-center and so your hands don't line up where they should if the keyboard was centered. Other laptops will have the same issue. Chassis gets a little flimsy, especially above the dvd. Fingerprints on the back of the lcd panel (aka the top when laptop is closed) are terrible. Not sure how a matte black, textured surface attracts fingerprints but they were noticeable after just a few hours of use. Not too much bloatware, but yes, there is some. Speakers are nothing to write home about. My biggest gripe is that the keyboard misses some keystrokes - perhaps 1 in 100. Certainly there will be faster machines out there. I would normally be someone who would purchase something faster. But with young kids at home, I wanted something less expensive so that if they broke it, I would merely be mad and not incredibly mad. Once I messed around with the touchpad settings for a quite a while, I am fairly pleased with this purchase.
