Not bad, but nothing special

Pros: one of the fastest I3 processors at this time
Cons: keyboard misses keystrokes
Other Thoughts: I bought this primarily as a web-surfing laptop. We were not ready to transition to a tablet yet. By default, the Windows 8 Live Tiles will consume about 25% of the cpu. Turn them off to free up your processor cycles. Screen is glossy, not matte. The full number pad is nice until you blindly put your hands on the keyboard and realize that all the letters are off-center and so your hands don't line up where they should if the keyboard was centered. Other laptops will have the same issue. Chassis gets a little flimsy, especially above the dvd. Fingerprints on the back of the lcd panel (aka the top when laptop is closed) are terrible. Not sure how a matte black, textured surface attracts fingerprints but they were noticeable after just a few hours of use. Not too much bloatware, but yes, there is some. Speakers are nothing to write home about. My biggest gripe is that the keyboard misses some keystrokes - perhaps 1 in 100. Certainly there will be faster machines out there. I would normally be someone who would purchase something faster. But with young kids at home, I wanted something less expensive so that if they broke it, I would merely be mad and not incredibly mad. Once I messed around with the touchpad settings for a quite a while, I am fairly pleased with this purchase.
