5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop

Pros: The computer is fast, lightweight, and durable. Has built in a/b/g/n wireless. The wireless N can even do 2.4 and 5 Hhz frequencies. The wireless will pick up routers 2 acres from my house, and very rarely drops a connection. Battery life after Vista SP1 is about 1 hour and 45 minutes on the performance mode (Other modes are battery saving, ac power, entertainment, etc.). This is not while running games for I have not tested this laptop with games.

Cons: 1 GB of ram, but isn't really a con when you are planning to upgrade the ram anyways. The dvd drive, like others have said, is slightly annoying when you go to pickup the laptop. If you pick it up with your hands on the side, 75% of the time you will hit the button for the dvd drive and it will come open.

Other Thoughts: Included mouse is a Logitech badged with the ASUS name as mentioned before. If you decide to stay with Vista, uninstall the ******* McAfee, and upgrade to the 800mhz laptop ram. We upgraded our laptop to 3 GB 800mhz ram and it is a rocket. Do not worry about Vista constantly using a certain amount of ram, it is reserving the ram for possible program use. Vista will reserve about 900MB of RAM with 3 GB of ram. The OS is 32-bit, so if you want 64-bit OS, either buy this and upgrade to it or look somewhere else.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty good

Pros: This Notebook has been a great asset. I use it at school and for occasional gaming. It is pretty fast; especially, for a laptop. I play CS:S BF2 BF2142 without any problems. Crysis and Lost planet are a different story of course.

Cons: After looking at ASUS's tech support I found that they have underclocked the video card due to power issues or something like that, but it still runs good so....I too have had the problem with the DVD-rom being bumped open all the time. Be sure to put the extra gig of ram in.

Other Thoughts: I can do anything with this puppy. I am sure that there are a lot of features that haven't used yet. Networking anywhere is a sinch. The screen to me is really impressive. The Splendid technology is great. :)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value and performance

Pros: Comes with a pretty fast dual core processor and a sexy screen. I like the fingerprint scanner, but only for logging into Windows. Comes with Vista, so I have DX10 and Aero looks good. It stays cool and quiet. Includes a good graphics card too. I have not tried any intensive games, but it could probably handle Gears of War with some of settings tuned down.

Cons: I am constantly accidently opening up the DVD drive because of its location. Also, the drive is kind of slow, but plays DVDs and games fine. Vista has quite a number of quirks that will be a pain to get used to. This laptop also comes with plenty of bloatware. The fingerprint scanning software is pretty annoying once it is into Windows so i disabled everything except login.

Other Thoughts: I would suggest upgrading the RAM to 2 or 3 gigs since it comes with a free RAM slot. I upgraded to three gigs and the RAM only cost 35 dollars. This laptop is a great performer and isn't that expensive. I would definetely reccomend it.

P.S. shipping was very fast

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great price, good hardware, it's reasonably lightweight and thin, keyboard feels solid and touch pad works well. The fact that it comes with a mouse and a bag is a great plus, especially the fact that the mouse and bag are of pretty good quality.
The battery management software is pretty good, has options to downclock the CPU.

Cons: Ships with a 6-cell, 9 cell battery seems to be sold out, but you can manage to find one for a good price if you look hard.

The fingerprint scanner was a headache to work, so I got rid of all the software.

As with all laptops it comes pre-loaded with a LOT of stuff that you really don't need, slows it down a lot, but once you get rid of it it works really really well.

It's got a lot of annoying stickers though luckily most don't leave sticky residue and are easy to pull off.

Other Thoughts: I had some problems swapping out the 1Gb with 2Gbs, it kept BSOD'ing, still does every o often at boot, but it's only occasionally and works fine other then that, though it might be the RAM's fault.

Lovely laptop, and Newegg service is, as always, top notch.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Stuff

Pros: I have to say that this laptop screams! Only a few problems which I will get to later, but are of no fault to the laptop. Nice framerates on Counter Strike Source. Windows vist w/ Aero is great. Only thing I will strongly suggest is to disable sidebar and bloat ware junk!!! This makes startup time unbelievable!

Cons: 2 things- It came with vista.
I dont mind that so much, it's just that it's a real pain to make it xp. Maybe I'm just a noob at it, but the Asus website was only semi-helpful in the transfer to xp. Many broken links to drivers...
-Only one gig of ram
Go grab that extra gig!!!

Other Thoughts: All in all, this is a great laptop which I would recommend, espcially for the price!

I'm not one of those guys that gives it 1 egg because doa, or the software it cam with. Everything has vista now unfortunately, so I rated it solely on hardware.

5 out of 5 eggsI'm in love

Pros: i love this thing... the only thing i have done is like everyone says and probly already knows...that 1 gig of ram has never been enough to run vista very well. its more like a minimum. it makes it easy that it comes with a single stick of 1 gig rather than 2 512 sticks so there isn't any waste in order to add. just leave the single in and add a second. along with this order i added an extra 2gig stick of gskill that makes the total 3 gig and its screaming fast love the card reader, and print reader. camera isn't too great but it gets the job done. really couldn't be happier for the price.

Cons: cd eject button is in that perfect spot that always gets hit when i go to lift/move it... not a biggie unless its running something like a game or making a copy.

Other Thoughts: i can't think of a good reason not to get this... the price is great and warranty is a great peace of mind. just be sure to add the ram and enjoy!

1 out of 5 eggstoilet paper > f3sv

Pros: cheap for what you get in it

Cons: breaks easily

Other Thoughts: So far i have sent my f3sv in 2 times and I am getting ready to send it in for the 3rd. I've only had it for 6 months. I'm not sure if i got a lemon, but this is a terrible computer. The latch for the lid has broken twice. The right and left click on the touch pad don't work either. Not to mention the second screen(first was replaced) in this thing has a tone of dead pixels. and buttons stick on the keyboard. I know your thinking well this guy abuses his computer. No... i don't. This laptop sits on a desk, is always cleaned and when its moved. I put it in a well padded swiss gear backpack. I will Never buy asus again. Oh Tech support is nice.

5 out of 5 eggsEfficient Laptop !!!

Pros: Once i added 1gb of ram, everything runs perfect, I play CoD4,TF2 without any trouble at all,so interms of gaming this laptop is one of the tops in my opinion along w/decent price

Cons: Like everyone stated, 1gig of ram is not enough, so ...buy another gig of ram. Also should have been better if it's running window xP but in my personal opinion vista is running okay if u just use it for commercial use

Other Thoughts: Asus's product always tend to be good to me so i really like asus
If u really against vista and wanna go for the xp, i think that the next best price and model will be the asus A8Js(even if it's a lil older model but it's good also)

Overall, this laptop is flawless for regular use, and playing game with this is without a problem as well
This product is A+ in my eyes

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Excellent laptop. I added 1GB of ram and this baby screams. Vista is definitely getting better and I'm not having any major problems.

Cons: Only the fact it comes with 1GB of RAM and the battey life is short but I knew that before I bought it.

Other Thoughts: Nice DVD drive with lightscribe. Screen is beautiful. Nice and quiet and doesn't get too hot. Will run BF2, CSS, COD4, and others with no problems.

5 out of 5 eggsvery satified

Pros: i picked this laptop solely for the graphics card, and it turns out that vista is one of the better opps that i have used. the graphics are amazing and the overall gaming performance is very comparable to a average gaming desktop. besides gaming if you want a good computer that has the capability to do anything you want, this is your computer. as usual Asus has blown me away again.

Cons: it is mandatory that you have more then 1 gig of ram, i mean it runs with only 1g but you cant do any heavy stuff. if you are looking for general use then 1g should do you just fine, but if you are a gamer or do video editing then you really need more then 1. i put a 2g stick in mine and it runs like a beast.

Other Thoughts: i really like the look of this laptop as well, its very sleek looking. also the figure print reader works amazing, and is a cool up.
