An Excellent Notebook
- Pros: Beautiful. Incredibly Fast. Stylish. Great value! 512MB 8600GT Video card!!!
- Cons: Slightly heavier then my previous 15.4 Sony. Less then 3 hr battery life (but it's ok for me. I have a 13' laptop for on the road tasks).
- Other Thoughts: Get 4GB ram upgrade (2GB x2) to get the fastest performance. First class video card equipped with 512MB dedicated memory.
If you want anything faster then this, get yourself a desktop.
Pricey.
- Pros: This machine has some nice touches, like the LightScribe burner, HDMI port, and included Bluetooth mouse.
- Cons: I can't help but think how similar the specs look to a MacBook Pro. The only con of the MBP vs. this machine is that it doesn't have 1680x1050 in the 15.4" version (the MBP 17" is 1680x1050, though).
- Other Thoughts: The 512MB VRAM isn't really correct for the GeForce. That includes shared system memory. Apple correctly specifies their GeForce 8600M as having 128MB or 256MB. The ASUS seems to actually have 256MB.
Fast Forensic Laptop
- Pros: Fast, Esata, 3x usb, and firewire...What more could you ask for? HDMI? it has that too!
- Cons: Puts out a ton of heat!
- Other Thoughts: Hard to get XP-64x running on the machine, so went back to XP-32x. Vista was too slow!
