Asus' F3SA-A1 notebooks are designed to keep you gaming on the go. From power to video to communications it has it all. At its heart is an Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 running at 2.2GHz and 1GB of memory. A fingerprint reader keeps the data on the 160GB hard drive secure.
Long battery life doesn't mean much if you can't see anything, that's why there is an ATi Mobility Radeon HD 2600 GPU with a dedicated 512MB of memory powering a 15.4" screen. To ensure the best picture possible, Asus included their Splendid video technology that delivers higher brightness, sharper details and better contrast, along with increased color saturation and vivid skin tones.
A major part of today's gaming and digital lifestyle is communication and the F3SA-A1 has you covered. The built in microphone and web camera compliment the speakers for VoIP calls and other conferencing methods. Excellent Mid-Range Gaming Laptop
- Pros: Excellent mid-range gaming laptop. The Radeon HD 2600 is one of the best mobile graphics cards you can get in a laptop under 2 grand. Good processor, and decent HD. Plays DVD's and High-Def video files without problems.
- Cons: Poorly placed USB ports: 2 on back, one on front, none on the sides. Only 1 gig of ram, insufficient for Vista. Right now I'm idling at 930MB in use, not counting Firefox and the Sidebar. Ram is cheap, buy some with the laptop.
- Other Thoughts: Bought a 2 gig chip with this laptop and installed it before I even turned it on. The laptop has 2 slots, 1 is already filled with the 1GB chip that comes pre-installed. I got a Transcend PC 5300 2GB chip from here (item N82E16820208323) for around $40.
Studly
- Pros: Very fast CPU. Pretty good graphics card, too. I got a 3dmark06 score of almost 3200. Webcam works great. Dx10 games run pretty well. Crysis demo runs at 10-15fps at 1280x800 on medium. The fingerprint scanner is pretty convenient. Wireless works well, too. I've seen other laptops with similar specs for over $1600. Vista base score 4.7. Pretty much, this laptop is my new baby. I lurve it.
- Cons: The graphics card is the DDR2 version, but it still performs well, just not as well as its GDDR3 counterpart. The Asus security manager is kind of annoying. I'll probably end up uninstalling it.
- Other Thoughts: This laptop puts my 4-year-old desktop to shame. It's thin, powerful, and a great value. My only regret is that the price went down a few days after I bought it.

Great Price / Performance
- Pros: Intel 2.2 Duo combined with the ATI 2600 HD(512 mb Dedicated). Is what first caught my attention. Finding the same thing elsewhere would of cost much more. No dead pixels.
- Cons: 1GB. Vista needs at least 2GB in my honest opinion to run decent. I made sure to order an additional 2GB memory module same time as the laptop. Runs great.

Impressive for the money
- Pros: Absolutely a great buy for the money! I purchased four gigs of ram, wiped the hard drive and installed Vista Ultimate 64 bit along with the ram, and haven't looked back yet. Although the driver CD said Vista 32 bit, it did have the 64 bit drivers as well.
My previous laptop was a Thinkpad, which is still a great one at almost six years old, but to get similar specs as this Asus, almost twice the money would have been spent to get a new Thinkpad.
- Cons: None so far, other than the anemic ram it came with, which was easily remedied.
- Other Thoughts: I sat on the fence for several weeks before taking the plunge on this machine. It may not be a brushed alloy case and the likes, but it certainly feels solid, and comes with a good warranty.
First laptop and no regrets!
- Pros: This laptop is nothing short of practical. The specs say it all and the price is right. It's right there in the middle in performance. Pretty much it'll get whatever it is you need to get done, done.
- Cons: Only 1g on the memory and the finger scanner is a pain, but nothing to get bent out of shape over.
- Other Thoughts: If you're a gamer and not too hard core of one, as in, if you don't have to play the latest games right away then this will suit you just fine. Besides, that's what desktops are for.
