5 out of 5 eggsPretty good, but remember to update

Pros: Small, this keyboard is actually good for me because I have small hands. Its light. It has met all of the expectations after I updated it.

Cons: Wireless didn't work out of the box with my Linksys router. After a week of messing with it, finally got the thought to update it. After that it worked just fine. Also advance mode didn't come default like I would have expected from the description.

Other Thoughts: Fairly good pc if you know what to expect.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!!

Pros: Received this amazing little machine today (2 days from Newegg, Cali to Columbus!) and I am more than impressed with it. I don't own any other laptop, and just needed a portable companion to my powerful desktop. This thing is more than perfect. I reverted to the advanced Xandros desktop because I prefer a higher level of customization than what the simple interface offered. Right off the bat I was connected to the wireless, using Thunderbird with my gmail account, browsing the web, watching youtube vids, and doing everything I need on the go.

Cons: Nothing worth mentioning.

Other Thoughts: Many people complain about the size of the keyboard. It took me about 5 minutes to adjust, and I am typing this on my EEE. It's very easy to type on. Side scrolling in some websites isn't as bothersome as you would think. I've heard other complaints about the mouse "button" located below the touchpad, and I don't know why. Simply click on the left side for a left mouse click and the right for a right mouse click, couldn't get any easier!

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: small, light, useful, quick once setup

Cons: battery life and screen resolution choices.

Other Thoughts: I order this and 2GB of memory. First thing I did was install the memory and tried to install windows xp pro. It didn't work but then I looked in the manual and followed the instructions and it worked like a charm. It was nice to have external usb cd-rom for that.
Installing the software was a little slower than a normal desktop but no slower than most laptops. Once everything was setup, the computer runs quick and launches programs quickly. I've installed our software and MSDE SQL and it's almost as fast as our new desktops and much faster than some of our older equipment. The battery doesn't last as long as other laptops.
This pc is being used to to help my sales people for installing routers/Internet for our customers. It fits the bill for being light, quick, and easy to use.
We have ordered the 900 12G with the 8.9" screen to see if it's better.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty Good - Get the newer models now though

Pros: It is ultra small and portable. Its awesome to use it with Skype. The webcam quality is better then my logitec quickcam.

Battery life is pretty good.

Its sturdy as heck.

Cons: The default OS is worthless if you plan on doing anything custom with this guy. For general use though, just leave it on.

Be aware that I am pretty sure it voids your warranty if you mess with the Ram or OS.

Other Thoughts: I put Ubuntu Eee on here using a 2GB SD card. There are quite a few things that will prevent it from working out of the box when you put the new os on. If you arent familiar with Linux, I would leave the default distro on

I got the 1GB memory upgrade as well. Personally, I would buy one of the newer models with a larger hd and screen. I only have 1gb left after new os install. Also the screen is so small you have trouble adjusting window sizes and options in Ubuntu Eee.

5 out of 5 eggsThis thing rocks

Pros: Works straight out of the box! Very easy to use. I am a big fan of Open Office which it has. Easy to plug in to a monitor and external hard drive. Linux Xandros is easy peasy. I work betweek Open Office Write and MS Word with no problems at all. If you just want to the ability to word process, Skype, email, surf and do photo stuff this is for you. Keyboard okay if your hands are not too big!!

This 701 version is very good on lack of weight, no brick in the power cord - this was a good reason for getting this version for me. Wifi very good, online viseo - such as CBS innertube is excellent NCIS played really well.

Impressive but the competition is now out there. But htis is a quality product.

Cons: Big hands will not like this Keyboard. Clear that trash regularly! Do not download addons unless you really use them - space space is tight.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for several reasons. I had to replace my Dell Axim 5 with something with a bigger screen and usable keyboard. I also had to do my degree work anywhere, to be able to Skype family and friends in England, catch up on my email and do work related stuff. You do need an extra SD card I put a 16 GB in.

Honestly it does a great job. This would also be great for those who are not into technology but need email etc.

Good add ons for this are

16 GB SD card
External hard drive
Spare battery

2 out of 5 eggsOK... Keyboard Make It Unusable!

Pros: Small, perfect size to carry anywhere. Flawless Linux or XP. Good build quality. All the ports and connections of a larger notebook.

Cons: Tiny keybaord is unusable. Price is relatively expensive now that 10" options are available from Asus and MSI for $70 more. Screen is so small you cannot see dialog boxes.

Other Thoughts: Great concept, but keyboard is a deal breaker for me. I have owned this for about 1 year, and found myself lugging my 13" Dell around because it was a nightmare to use the 701's keyboard. I used it less and less, and sold it to get the MSI Wind 10" for $70 more.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The thing is TINY, and very affordable. This is the kind of computer I can throw in my pocket and take it anywhere I go. SSD so it is very durable. Plus it includes Windows XP drivers.

Cons: Small hard drive, adding a SDHC card is a must. Screen resolution could be better, but it can be scaled with new drivers.

Other Thoughts: A great product with a great community behind it. I would recommend if you plan on installing Windows XP on it getting a 2GB DDR2 ram stick so you can turn off Virtual Memory/Swap for increased speed and hard drive space.

4 out of 5 eggsNice little ultra-portable

Pros: Very small, relatively lightweight, feels sturdy, sound is surprisingly good, speed is quite acceptable (in Linux), and the 4gb built-in flash is more than adequate (for Linux). Perfect for taking notes, high-portability, SSH client to manage your servers, and even watching movies on the go. Lots of USB ports for expansion, which is pretty handy. I've also found that the CPU is fast enough that it had no problems decoding complex H.264 at 480p. Finally, the QWERTY keyboard is just big enough that one can type without changing their typing style too much; any smaller and it'd be more like a PDA.

Cons: The Linux distro it ships with, Xandros, is slow, limited, and the interface is clumsy. Also, the price is a bit high for what you get, though it's still reasonable. No optical drive, though this is somewhat offset by the abundance of USB2 ports. Finally, at present there is a firmware glitch which causes the battery to drain unreasonably fast when in sleep mode, meaning you only get about 12 hours of battery life when hibernating. Still good enough for the feature to remain useful, but hopefully it will be completely fixed in a future BIOS revision.

Other Thoughts: The Linux distro it ships with may be less than optimal, but at least it's stable, secure, and faster than Windows on the same hardware. It's also much easier on the flash drive, since it doesn't need to swap full-time like Windows does. Windows is slow, expensive and memory hungry, and its abysmal security warrants AV software that would slow it even further. With that in mind, I would recommend a different Linux distro rather than throwing the baby out with the bath water. Debian's EeePC variation is quite good. They even have a custom installer image you can 'dd' off onto a thumbdrive or memory stick. Or, if you feel like a bit of an OS Luddite, you might look into the EeePC version of Ubuntu, which is a bit slower and more resource-hungry than the Debian variety, but probably easier to use and install.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent 2nd PC

Pros: Its very light and small, but has a very solid feel to it. Many open-source programs available to linux. I have a desktop at home, and this is perfect to travel with and surf the web on the couch or in bed. It plays music, is great for watching movies (i got a 16GB SDHC card to keep media on), and runs open office.

Cons: What you would expect from a laptop of this size. Typing can be cumbersome. Is not bad for emails or chatting, but I wouldnt use this thing to type up a thesis. The screen size limits its web viewing, as most websites need to be scrolled sideways to view the whole site.

Other Thoughts: Highly recommended as a second pc.
