Demanding XP - and the pains to get it installed
- Pros: Slick box - includes everything you'll ever need, shy maybe a second power adapter (includes bluetooth mouse with 2 AA batteries!). Only subnote with dedicated graphics, a must for a web design studio sales person.
- Cons: Vista - enough said. This laptop is amazing, other than this big oversight.
- Other Thoughts: I'm at 3 hours of downloading drivers and putting together a cd of restore items. Now I'm down to finding the Nvidia driver for the 8400M G. Come on Asus - XP drivers exist for every piece of hardware a chip designer puts out - it's up to YOU to package them together. Nvidia claims that they are not allowed to directly distribute drivers for their products.
- Pros: Great Design/Feel
Vista is actually pretty good with 2Gig of RAM
Backlit LCD is good
relatively light weight
- Cons: Short Battery Life (2 ~ 2.5 on a 6 cell)
AC adapter a bit bulky
vista boot time still a bit long
- Other Thoughts: Great value; but if you want to carry it around without power adapter, it's difficult with such a short battery life, which hurts its mobility proposition. Pros outweighs the Cons. I would give it 4.5 and still recommend it to people who can find power outlets easily

- Cons: Not really a con, so I put it in Other Thoughts...
- Other Thoughts: Just wanted to mention that my index finger can stab through a concrete wall after a month of working with the touchpad buttons. They're really hard to press! Not a deal breaker but man, it could be a bit easier. Of course, you can configure the touchpad to click-on-tap and avoid using the buttons as much as possible.
