Great Quality and Price, but one issue!
- Pros: As of a while ago, it seems that speed in even the cheap computers are more than fast enough for almost all application with gaming maybe one of the exception. Anyway, I don't game, but like the best, and bought this U6 here which has all the speed and space to satisfy 99% of users, including myself. Has a prety neat program that uses facial recognition from the camera to log you in (in addition to being able to use fingerprint scan if you prefer).
- Cons: The mouse buttons under keyboard are so terrible and hard, I though mine was defective. Luckily, it has gotten a lot easier to click with use. Another issue that I have had, is that I read everywhere that this came with 3-CELL battery, yet I received it with a 6-CELL. The problem is that I wanted another laptop that would be a little more portable than my Sony VAIO SZ. I was about to get TZ, but the ASUS seemed to be a better deal. I stand behind that decision, yet with the 6-CELL battery sticking an inch out the back of the U6, it's basically the same size as the SZ. The easy fix is to buy the 3-CELL. WHERE!?!?!? I have looked for months through hundreds of websites as far away as europe, eWay, hAmazon, etc. Only can find 6-CELL or 9-CELL.
- Other Thoughts: The battery size issue is not really a negative towards the laptop, but a supply\accessory issue with ASUS. Great laptop overall. Very Stable and feature laden. Recommended! Preferably with a 3-CELL.
Love It
- Pros: A very nice computer for what you pay for. Ran right out of the box and I've never had such a smooth linux install. Very light, plenty of USB ports, and a nice area to rest my palms on. It comes with a decent CPU and plenty of Ram as well. Runs Ubuntu 8.04 very fast, I imagine it would run windows almost as well...
- Cons: Two minor complaints. One, the mouse keys are a bit tough to click. Two, integrated graphics...I'm not a big fan... Then again, I'm not running games so it isn't a big deal but I prefer my GPU to have its own memory.
- Other Thoughts: If I had to do it all over again, I would buy this product. I've never had anything go bad from Asus. Also, I paid for three day shipping and New Egg got it to me in two. This is why I only buy from New Egg online when I need anything computer related...that and their wide selection.
Bought this to be a more portable partner to my Sony Vaio SZ
- Pros: Loaded with asus utilities such as SMART LOGON (which uses the camera to log you on) that are actually usable. VERY comparable to my much more expensive SZ and slightly faster. This is the first non-Sony I purchase and am pretty pleased. Screen and picture quality very impressive. Runs Vista Ultimate with no issues. Will defintely be very difficult to decide b\w another Sony or anoth Asus when it's time to buy another.
- Cons: The Asus is a little bit smaller than Sony, but screen has a larger bezel around it. Therefore, either the computer should have been slightly smaller, or a slighlty larger screen should have been put in. The laptop is pretty small, but it comes with a 6-cell that sticks out the back of the computer about an inch which makes it about the same depth and the Sony SZ I was trying to get a smaller one for. This is an easy fix by getting the 3 cell battery, except I CAN'T FIND IT. I've looked on the ASUS website, e Bay, and every store I googled. According to the ASUS website, they have a 3,6,and 9 cell battery.
- Other Thoughts: Overall very pleased with the computer and especially it's performance. I am the type that always wants the newest and best, so saying I'm pleased is saying a lot. Price was excellent here and even cheaper than e Bay, came with $100 rebate, and great deal on extra battery.
