5 out of 5 eggsComes with a notebook case

Pros: Just to let you know that the box includes an ASUS notebook case. So don't order a case along with it, like I did.

Cons: Speakers are not very good.

4 out of 5 eggsVista is the biggest downfall

Pros: Excellent specs, definitely handles Vista better than most notebooks. Tons of storage space, good quality webcam, not a huge amount of bloatware and best of all you've got enough space to dualboot if you're not a huge fan of Vista. Its fairly light as well considering all thats packed into it, the carrying case is a nice touch as well.

Cons: The finish on the outside attracts finger prints too easily, while it looks good clean it doesn't stay that way for long. Additionally theres an ongoing problem with the video card and Vista which can cause some games to throw the dreaded "Display adapter has stopped responding and recovered" error.

Other Thoughts: Battery life for this unit could be better, even in battery saving mode you may only get about 2 1/2 hours out of it but mostly its going to hover around 2 hours. Definitely a good buy even now but I'd hold off till the price dips a bit more.

5 out of 5 eggsASUS F8 Series F8Sn-B1 Notebook

Pros: This is the first notebook I've had, and it's a relief to finally just buy a computer already put together since I've assembled my last 3 desktops. I loved the webcam login for windows. I've just begun to install all the applications I use on my XP desktop and haven't run into any problems so far. The laptop runs Call of Duty 4 flawlessly on max settings. The case that comes with it looks great too. Everything works.

Cons: The fingerprint login setup is frustrating for a first time user. Vista can give you some growing pains, but keep in mind your growing. This laptop manhandles Vista and it runs as smooth as XP for me. The bloatware is going to take a while for me to work up the attention span to remove. The audio is lacking, what did you expect? Fingerprints are a plenty on the top and screen.

Other Thoughts: 3 out of 4 dentists recommend this laptop, and so do I. Perfect for someone who wants mobility and gaming.

5 out of 5 eggsBest laptop

Pros: This is the best laptop I've ever had. Anything is perfect except the touchpad and speaker. The hardware spec. will satisfied anything what I need. The VGA is powerful although Ger9500M GS is not a high-range card.I can play many games (COD4, BioShock,...) with high detail and resolution (1024 - 1280) but Crysis didn't run well, it will run well with 1024x768 resolution and medium detail (But I don't care about that 'cause I don't really like crysis).

Cons: F8SN is the best laptop for someone who need portability and gaming. THe hardware spec. will satisfy anybody with it's great price. I recommend you should buy this perfect lappy. Thanks newegg for great services and this flawless products.

5 out of 5 eggsBest bang for a buck

Pros: It is simply the best in its class.
T9100 + 512Mb GPU +3 Mb RAM + 5 USB + huge HD + best warranty. Notebook has all other connectors I did not mention
The whole piece feels sturdy and keyboard is exceptionally good (for me and my son at least)
This is really deal
It is nimble while running Vista - I have no complains about Vista. It is cool'n'quiet under full load. It is a dream machine for my son who is a user and games player

Cons: I do not like polished black exterior.
Speakers did not exceed expectations and sound lousy.
Battery live could be better but this is trade off for cool'n'quiet.
Screen is too much 'polished'- could be a little bit matte'er

Other Thoughts: May be I should of buy leather F8P version?
ASUS gives you the very best features/build quality/money value

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good one

Pros: Nice screen, awesome graphics card

Cons: hate the touchpad, bad speakers, vista

Other Thoughts: to me, it doesn't mean a thing if microsoft spent one cent or 10 billiion, if vista's not gonna be user friendly to me and with the software that i'm used to, i don't understand why i would want vista. it probably is better OS than xp, but why bother spending money on "getting better hardware" just to keep up with unstable OS? (and does getting "better" hardware really fix all the bugs? I think not) it has not been long since Xp got somewhat stable and it'll take at least 5 years before vista gets to that level. for the reviewer below, have fun spending many many hours upgrading your hardware and "tweaking" your OS, i just don't have time / money for all that, like most of the buyers- i assume. The laptop itself is well built and and worth the money except for vista.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent gaming notebook

Pros: 1. Penryn CPU + nvida 9500M GS
2.glossy screen -looks great from the user's viewing angle
3. awesome videocard - runs oblivion with bloom on with other details haven't tried any of the latest games but I pretty much got this to run oblivion and warcraft.
4. webcam works and can spin around.
5. xp drivers available at the website
6. a lot of USB ports + other input ports + SD card reader all built in

Cons: 1. by far the worst touchpad ever on a laptop. it hurts my index finger - coarse surface!
2. had trouble with HD sound driver which gave me blue screen of death -> after updating drivers, things got fixed and was ok.
3. slightly thicker heavier than usual 14 inch notebooks,
4. I dunno why ppl love glossy screen but I hate the glare on it and has cr@ppy viewing angle aside from the main user's view- this was the only option at the time of purchase
4. webcam is slightly laggy but gives decent clips
5. DVDRW makes clunky noises but works well
6. WXGA only provides ~1200x~7-800 resolution only (or less res)
7. built in speakers are not loud enough

Other Thoughts: I wanted a laptop that can run games that may come out in the future like SC2, not too big (portable), with reputation. Coming from T42 lenovo which was simply the best laptop ever, I expected a lot out of this one. Before making the purchase i did a lot of research / reading on this laptop. Overall I'm happy with the purchase mostly due to the gfx card and for the price, you can't get any better specs than this. Applied artic silver too.
I installed xp, b/c im not ready to get used to vista yet since i use foreign language softwares and other things that are not fully compatible with vista. It is a decent gaming /desktop replacer in my opinion.

5 out of 5 eggsGET ONE SOON

Pros: Perfect specifications. Plenty of video memory and dedicated. Lots of add ons. Way better warranty than any other brand on the market. Excellent build quality. Comfortable typing experience. The display is just the right size. I initially purchased 13.3" Toshiba, but it seemed a little too small, and the display had dead pixels, wich was the reason i returned it. Very cool utility software from ASUS (option to log you in only with the camera, without even touching the comp). The notebook runs very cool. Display is very vivid and bright, with way less glare compared to other glossy displays. The keyboard feels solid with less flex than any others I've tried. Vista just flies on this machine. I do not believe there is a better deal than that right now if you are looking for top notch performance in a small package

Cons: I spotted a dead pixel on the screen, but just pressed on it with moderate pressure with a towel, and it seems it has disappeared.
I would have liked it much more if the battery had a longer life, or at least if there was an option to upgrade to a higher capacity battery. Right now it lasts up to 2-2.5 hours at the most with energy saving settings.

Other Thoughts: For everybody that hears bad reviews for vista:
Microsoft did not pour around 10 Billion usd in to something they are going to bail on. This is the new operating system at least for the next 3-5 years. They will clean it up from all the bugs. But even now i think it is much better than xp. If you have any problems with vista ..... just get better hardware, and do a little more research on customizing your Windows.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Deal

Pros: For the price, you get a Penryn CPU, 3GB of RAM and the HDD gets similar vista scores to my 7200rpm Hitachi Travelstar in my HP. Another bonus, for the tech savvy, is that the 9500 card is MXM so its upgradable.

Cons: The fact that AFTER I paid for this machine, I noticed another ASUS that was almost identical but was a 15.4" with a numpad. Also, though newegg and/or ASUS may say its a 1440x900 resolution, its actually 1280x800, though its still sharp enough on a 14.1"

Other Thoughts: In 3DMark06, I get these scores with SP1:
3DMarks: 3566
SM 2.0: 1475
SM 3.0: 1261
CPU: 1881 (My 3.4 Pentium D in my tower got 1746!)

5 out of 5 eggsAbsolutely Great

Pros: First of all, the notebook is a great bargain. I've been looking for a setup using the new penryn chipset and one of nvidia's new 9000 series graphics card...and this works out just right. The setup is quite power efficient...on battery saving, and after tweaking the settings a bit, I can get around 3 hours battery life (just surfing the web).

Vista runs along perfectly with the amount of RAM provided. There is low keyboard flex, no bright dots, the screen is beautiful and the bloatware isnt TOO excessive (see cons). Its small and perfectly portable...something i needed after having a 17 inch gaming behemoth for the last few years. That is not to say that this guy doesnt run does so with great ease.

Low heat output and very quiet. And finally...for those who care, its a good looking piece of machinery.

Cons: The screen's horizontal viewing angle is pretty good but vertically, not so true. I haven't had a problem with it, but if your friend is sitting on your shoulder trying to watch the same movie...that might not work out too well.

There is a decent bit of bloatware and vista's normal setup isnt as good as it can be. Tweaking guides can be found online, and following those, I've lowered boot and shut down times and increased performance.

The hard drive speed works just fine for me as does the processor speed. But it isnt too difficult to update to t9300 chip and a higher speed hard drive (just gonna cost you more but you can probably sell your older hardware).

Other Thoughts: So pretty much, if youre looking for a portable machine with enough gaming power then this is it.
