- Pros: Vista rating (cpu 5.3),(ram 5.1),(gpu 5.0&5.3 for game), (HDD 5.3). Vista score for 200gb 7200rpm HDD after istallation = 5.5 a 0.2 increase from a 250gb 5400rpm defualt drive. Had a $50 instant saving when I bought it form NE. Lots of flashy Asus apps. Newegg pictures didn't show the imprints design on the laptop and it look quite nice. Asus is putting alot of attention on look and design and that is one of the main thing I look for in a laptop beside hardware. Webcam Face Recognition login is cool ideas but not 100% accurate. Built-in memory card reader is handy to have.
- Cons: Switching Hard drive for a better one and using recovery disc took a long, long time. Laptop has over 65 apps loading on startup! Still have some trial software but it to be expected. Spending a day just to throw out and install apps. Motherboard Ram slot can't handle speed of anthing over 667mhz. People who complain but yet buying or using it.
- Other Thoughts: Those Cons are minors and shouldn't be a problem affecting the performance of this laptop. 2yr manufacture warranty and 1yr accidental warranty should cover any unfortunate issue you have with this lappy. A great buy. Will buy from Asus again in the future.
I Love This Computer
- Pros: Awesome video card runs crysis, world in conflict, bioshock, and call of duty 4 well. The processor speed is awesome for price so is the video, ram, and hard drive space. The warranty is also outstanding.
- Cons: the rubber pieces on the camera are very weak they have already broken. Thats all I got so far
- Other Thoughts: Wish I could run movies and cd's without booting the Operating System up.

great all around
- Pros: PCU is definitely fast enough for everything i want to do (all at once too). great for gaming too, i can run company of heroes at full graphics and it doesnt skip a beat. Sleek style as well (really people, stop complaining about fingerprints, its called a washrag). face recognition is cool but doesnt work in all lighting, fingerprint scanner is REALLY nifty.
- Cons: audio jack is in the FRONT, which SUCKS, and the plastic covers on the connecting hinges pop off sometimes. also the audio sometimes doesnt work on the laptop speakers immediately after you disconnect your sound system/headphones, but if you mess around with the mute and volume buttons it comes back on usually.
- Other Thoughts: despite a few drawbacks, this computer is my life and it works great; i use it for web browsing, school, gaming and dj'ing. I would recommend this to anyone who isnt looking to spend more than 1500 on a laptop!
An Excellent Compromise
- Pros: Quiet, fast, numeric key pad, massive storage, top notch DVD drive, HUGE RAM, Cool Camera. This is a fantastic compromise between outrageous performance (which usually means BIG, HEAVY, Horrible battery life) and portability. I love the wide array of different card and port slots it has. Great bang for your buck.
- Cons: I really don't like Norton, apart from virus checking, Vista does everything that it does (probably better) so I uninstalled it.
- Other Thoughts: I have held off going with Vista for a long time but this machine makes it fly; sure it takes some getting used to but I am already over that hurdle after just 2 days. Forget the Windows Easy Transfer software, it is USELESS. I have run the RealFlight G4 simulator and this laptop just makes it so smooth, even on the middle performance settings. If you want to install MS Office Suite make sure that you go to Add Remove Programs and unistall any Office stuff that's already there or you'll get 'for non-commercial use only' after all your product names in the title bars.. took me 3 installs and uninstalls before I figured that out... Grrrr
Games well but Hot
- Pros: Sleek, I like the keyboard. I dont have a problem with the way the touch pad is set up. Games well, played COD 4, BF 2, Starcraft. some display problems with starcraft dont know why but works still. With COD 4, 30 - 50 fps, native resolution (1280 x 800) with medium to high graphics. Problem is that this thing gets HOT. I got a hardware monitor to keep track of the temps inside and after about 30 - 45 min of COD 4, the graphics card read 95 C! (202 F). CPU doesnt run that hot, this is the main issue.

Don't like how sensitive the touch pad is to clicking when I just want to scroll.....
Vent where heat comes out is right next to where the power cord plugs in.... thats about it for the cons
- Other Thoughts: Fast comp, overall it is awesome. this was my first laptop and I really like them. I love the keyboard, I was typing faster on it after 2 days of using it rather than my desktop....
Only real problem is the temp issue, hopefully this cooler I am going to get will solve the problem... Def, one of the best deals out there right now
