1 out of 5 eggsHeadphone/audio jack also started buzzing.

Pros: Great price for gaming performance.

Cons: After less than two months any headphones/speakers plugged into the out audio/headphone jacks started buzzing, as another user reviewed. Oddly enough just the right speaker/headphone buzzes. But no matter what type of headphones/speakers are plugged in, it happens, and it's not a matter of them not being plugged in all the way. It is a painful, intolerable buzzing.

Other Thoughts: PLEASE READ MY PRIOR REVIEW "Major Disappointment" below which goes into more detailed depth of more disappontments associated with this laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsnice.....

Pros: really nice laptop, and exactly what I was looking for. Great build quality, HDMI output plugs right into my flat screen for an incredible second monitor, and the option to easily add a second hard drive. Super fast, great for gaming, decent speakers (which was a really pleasant surprise.) Keyboard is very solid and easy to type on and a separate number pad. The exhaust blows out a port on the left instead of frying your legs, etc..

Cons: Not really cons...Know what you are buying: it is big, heavy and eats battery life. I got this as basically a desktop computer i could move around my house. If this was my only laptop and i was trying to haul this beast around town I would be really disappointed. Cord is kind of ridiculous, it is short and has a huge brick. I hate touch pads in general but that is just a personal preference.

Other Thoughts: Could not be happier, absolute favorite of any computer i have ever bought or built. LOVE it!!!!

5 out of 5 eggsawesome machine

Pros: Too many to list. Runs linux and XP just fine, but the OLED and HDMI don't work with XP.

Cons: Fingerprints everywhere, and the default volume level is a bit low. That can be remedied in the BIOS setup. It'd also be nice if ASUS included a real Vista disc, instead of the restore disc that nukes your entire drive. Some of us run multiple operating systems here.

Other Thoughts: To clarify one thing, since I wasn't sure about it when I bought it, this laptop is capable of having 2 drives in raid0 or 1, but only comes with one installed. All in all VERY worth the price.

5 out of 5 eggsASUS ROCKS!

Pros: Runs all programs great so far, MS OFFICE 2007, Crysis, Left4Dead. Graphics are very good. Sensitive wifi. Vista 64 works better than I thought.

Cons: Key strokes slow on yahoo due to Vista interface (I suspect) no fix known.

Other Thoughts: I am an ASUS convert, never to look back. I was at the ASUS booth at CES this year, some of their new laptops coming out are gorgeous. Bamboo handrests!

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as expected, not many cons.

Pros: Everything is highly customizable, and the ability to overclock on the fly is nice. LCD lights aren't annoying, because they can be disabled fairly easily. Works as expected, which is all I can ask for in a laptop. This runs faster than my $1000 desktop bought a month ago.

Cons: Heat vent on the left side makes that area around the laptop very hot. Would be afraid to have anything sitting next to that side of the laptop.

Lot of bloatware, but was able to remove most of it and tweak everything the way I wanted within about 2 hours.
All in all, nothing that would keep this from being a great buy.

FINGERPRINTS EVERYWHERE. Slight exaggeration, but you'll get use out of the cloth this laptop is packaged with. Not the screen itself, but the lid itself is a glossy black and therefore gets prints easily.

Other Thoughts: Comes with Vista 64-bit, something the specs don't necessarily point out.

The lid has an orange area on it (near where it opens, when closed). The pictures don't indicate this. To get an idea of where the orange area is, look at the newegg pictures. When viewing a picture of the laptop open, from behind - it's the strip near the top that is a slightly darker/sleek black.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Gaming laptop for budget

Pros: Read all star eggs ratings. They know what I am talking about. The overclocking and lcd features, the major fps on this machine, the looks. A++

Cons: None Really. Most people complain about the size being too big for laptop bags but they can fit most

Other Thoughts: Best move from a desktop to a laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsLuv it!

Pros: What can I say, its a LAPTOP that outperforms by decent desktop :)

Cons: The air blown out the right side is really hot. Also, the little lcd display hangs up frequently and I have to reset it (turn off laptop and hold in the button on the bottom for 10 secs with a paperclip)

Other Thoughts: I never imagened I'd get this kind of performance from a laptop. I love it.

Also, you will need to go into the CMOS and increase the speaker volume

1 out of 5 eggsPathetic faults

Pros: Everything was fine until...

Cons: I tried using headphone and the audio jack simply buzzes. Seriously, this laptop is over one thousand dollars and the headphone jack isn't working.

Simply unacceptable.

Other Thoughts: Would not buy from ASUS again.

5 out of 5 eggsAMAZING MACHINE! A POWERHOUSE GAMING LAPTOP

Pros: runs quiet, looks very very impresive,is just amazing!,is a little big for a 15´ but is OK for me,
come with a lot of bloat ware, vista being a resource hog,is a little heavy,
It handles games more powerfull/beautifully than I expected to do, like others said:
The speakers sound better than any other laptop I've heard, although they are still laptop speakers.
This laptop is a beast!
Great warranty - two years parts and labor,Good camera and mic pickup..
I did a lot of research before this buy, and you'll end up spending more for a less powerful machine
from a lot of the major brands, and you'll pay more at the others

2.4 core 2 duo! 4gb of ram! nvidia 9800!! Cool OLED (The LED display), The Touch sensitive buttons & The Expressgate are both pretty nice..

Cons: NOP

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for a light powerhouse laptop, then this is the laptop for you!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fast, 'turbo extreme' mode shows a noticeable difference. I haven't really played demanding games yet but I do plan to. Better screen than mybroter's $2k mac. stays relatively cool and quite. Looks great, orange is my favorite color haha. Comes with a built in hand/leg warmer.

Cons: Should've came with a 9 cell battery. can't disable ALL led's, just some, the control panel led's on the top of the keyboard can be painful at night with the screen turned all the way down. Fingerprints became more bothersome than I anticipated. 'republic of gamers' sayings everywhere s extra lame. Glittery keyboard haha. OLED panel is a different shade of blue. The touchpad seems 'grippy' and the buttons are hard to push, but i use a mouse anyway.

Other Thoughts: when I first got it it would show an animation and then just sit there and beep. Fixed it by unplugging it , removing the battery and holding the power button. There's a ton of stuff running in my taskbar, I'll eventually fix that.

All in all, this is an AWESOME notebook. Will definitely last me until until the current gen of hardware prices go down, maybe even longer
