Great when it works
- Pros: Fast, great graphics cards, decent storage
- Cons: Second hard drive died after 1 week, had to RMA. Now the monitor won't turn on. Currently been waiting 15 minutes to talk to technical support. I wish I could get a refund for this piece of junk.
Second Review
- Pros: After some time with the computer I decided to write another review (Aceburner was the last one I wrote). Same eggs just a couple new things. The computer is still great. It's definitely a magnet for dust and fingerprints. The video card is a GT. I was confused at first but it is a GT and not a GS. Great value on that alone. This computer is very fast with transfering data and downloading. The bookbag is actually decent. I use it all the time. It could be a tad bigger but I was able to fit everything I needed and some. The mouse is one of the best I've had. The lights are a nice touch I think and it turns a lot of heads. The fact that you can turn the performance down and save power is good also. The computer is the best I've seen for the money.
- Cons: The drives being partitioned is a bit annoying but it can be fixed. The other thing I have noticed is a hum is the headphone jack when you have something plugged into the USB on that side. Nothing big but it is noticeable when it's quiet. The sound not so good but there are a couple fixes out there that have definitely made my sound better than it was.
- Other Thoughts: For the price, this computer cannot be beat. I've sampled a couple games with it and it's a very impressive machine.
Great Buy!
- Pros: Fantastic laptop! Especially considering the price, its hard to find a better deal for this much machine. 7200 rpm dual hard drives slip into RAID 0 quite nicely. Great software for overclocking, also limited amounts of bloatware. Excellent graphics card, and display resolution. Included razor mouse is nice for a freebie and the backpack is a generous touch. Glossy black on orange for the body is actually very beautiful- the orange gives it a sparkling hint of something playful and audacious while still maintaining a composed, professional feel.
- Cons: Speakers are eh, but for laptop speakers they could be much worse. The keyboard is spacious, and the num pad is nice, but it's a bit sunken feeling- most other smaller, cheaper laptop keyboards have a better feel for everyday typing, but as a desktop replacement it's not really an obstacle with a USB keyboard. Also DDR2 RAM wasnt necessarily so exciting considering the price tag.
Because the aesthetics are so beautiful, the external gaudy LEDs were quite a disappointment. Metallic orange with bright blue LEDs? Not particularly impressed with that particular design choice- while they can be turned off, that glowing blue republic of gamers logo on the front is just a thorn in my side. Ok. Rant over.
- Other Thoughts: After extensively researching laptops for a desktop replacement I finally came to this laptop. There are some minor annoyances but they are truly minor in the end. The key here is bang for buck- any other laptop that comes close to comparing (especially with the video card) by any other company is going to run you substantially more money. Fantastic performance with a good price tag. The included backpack is a little on the goofy looking side, but does in fact hold the laptop (contrary to some reviews) even if it does so snugly. If price to hardware ratio is your priority in the desktop replacement category, this laptop is going to be hard to beat.
