Size matters, no matter what anybody says, and sometimes smaller is better. Especially if you know what to do with it, and Asus does. The Eee PC 1000H is designed for people that need lots of power in a small package. The Intel Atom N270 CPU and 1GB of memory run this Windows XP system with power to spare. A 160GB hard drive has plenty of room for you work and entertainment files.
The 10" screen has a 1024x600 resolution. Because of the smaller screen you can easily use it on a plane or train. The keyboard goes all the way out to the edge of the case and is 95% of the size of a standard keyboard so using it will feel normal.
Designed to be used anywhere there is a built in WiFi controller that supports 802.11b/g protocols. If there is no wireless signal around then you can plug into a standard Fast Ethernet connection. A webcam lets you have video chats.

Great lil' laptop
- Pros: Mostly a repeat of what's been said before:
- Great battery life
- Ultra-portable size
- Keyboard is much better than I anticipated for typing.
- Runs everything I've thrown at it very well, s.a. MSN Office.
- The screen is very bright! My old DELL laptop was quite dim in comparison
- Cons: - Right shift-key, but it hasn't been an issue with me.
- Other Thoughts: I upgraded, like many of the others, from 1gb to 2gb RAM. A caution: be sure to update your BIOS. I installed the ram prior to flashing my BIOS and the update would not reflect in the system information tab. But once I made the update, the problem was resolved.
1000HA
- Pros: Big drive for a Netbook. 1GB RAM is great, same with 1.6ghz CPU.
Screen is perfect for mobile users; below 10" is too small as resolution will get too bad to use windows
Boot up time without anti-virus program is almost instant (more like 25 seconds)
Keyboard is durable and keys are big enough to actually use; no cramps yet.
- Cons: HD isnt super fast, its adequate but compared to the SSDs in the 900 and 901 its louder and slower; though it has more volume
- Other Thoughts: Dont install Norton antivirus as the system will slow your system down. Best Eee that I have had out of the 900 and 901

Highly recommended -- dream machine
- Pros: Fantastic little machine. Works like a dream. As long as you don't need the CD/DVD drive (if you want portable storage, use cheap 8 GB sd cards in the built in reader), this machine pretty much has everything else you might need -- adequate storage, bright easy to read screen (even for my aging eyes), etc. I upgraded to Linux (eeebuntu), so I'm sure part of my positive impression is based on not having the machine crippled with Windows XP.
- Cons: The right-shift key is in the wrong place and takes a little getting used to.
- Other Thoughts: Dump the pre-installed Windows XP immediately, if not sooner. I bought this model (with WinXP) because it has higher specs than the Linux models. I immediately installed eeebuntu (Linux-Ubuntu preconfigured specifically for this netbook). Now I have a tiny netbook, that is fast and powerful, running on Linux. Also, I upgraded the RAM/memory to max it out. Might have been overkill, but it's so cheap, I couldn't resist
ASUS customer service..SAD!
- Pros: Its white and cheap!
- Cons: LCD screen defective with 2 straight line running from top to bottom. I had email them and got no reply! I called them atleast 3 times and waited for 10 minutes on the phone and no answer! I even try the online support, after waiting for "connecting" 14 minute later I had a message to tell me to leave a message! I'll update my update my review once ASUS contacted me but for now I give it one egg!
- Other Thoughts: I had 3 Sony Laptop in the past and I guess you really get for what you paid!

- Pros: Great machine. Bought for my wife, but won't let her use it! Up graded memory to Kingston 2g mem from New Egg and loaded XP Pro. Also experimenting with Ubuntu.
- Cons: getting used to right shift key.
- Other Thoughts: Just ordered 32g A-data SCHD card to increase capicity.
