5 out of 5 eggsSuperb huge laptop with great price...

Pros: Sturdy construction
Fast shipping (bought 4/10, recieved 4/16)
Awesome customer service (Live chat is the neurotic's dream, and you get frequent email updates)
Runs silent, Altec Lansing speakers are nice.
Guts the current generation of PC games and probably those that don't exist yet
Almost no bloatware (Norton IS 2009, MS Office online trial)
Price is bar none
Vista 64 bit

Cons: Waiting (hey, six days felt like a lifetime)
Weighs like a large concrete brick (My friend joked that you need to do push ups to move it around)
Smudges
Sound control is too close to L side of keyboard and too sensitive.
2 MP camera = meh
1.5 hour batter life (no difference between saver versus standard)
Vista 64 bit

5 out of 5 eggsASUS W90 pwnage

Pros: Amazing. Sets the bar really high! I play competitively and travel a ton! I was sick of lugging around my desktop. Got this in just in time for 3.1! I’m going to retire from desktops for now.

Cons: Needed to tweak the speakers a bit... other than that It doesn’t cook my breakfast and the disk drive isn’t big enough to hold my beer...

Other Thoughts: Im impressed with all this technology in a laptop. Easily worth the money.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Notebook Great Price

Pros: Very fast graphic detail and sound quality it great. Without over clocking it I get over 15000 on PC Mark. Beautiful display not sure what some of the other posters were experiencing but I have a superb display. The processor is over clock able with stock cooling and I actually got mine to OC to 3.2 and it was stable. It comes with Crysis and Fear 2 demos and is actually playable (avg 35 fps) on high Settings. Sound system is far better than any laptop I have ever owned. I have played Wow 1920x1080 highest settings 60 fps, Crysis demo 1920x1080 35 fps high settings, Fear 2 demo 1920x1080 High Settings 35 fps, Bioshock 1920x1080 high 130 fps, Call of Duty 5 1920x1080 50 fps extra high Settings, Unreal Tournament 3 1920x1080 55 fps.

Cons: There are actual issues with the sound bar getting in the way when you are gaming. I find myself turning the sound off allot.

Other Thoughts: Very heavy wish it came in a 17 instead of the 18.4. Battery life is very bad. Power Brick is also extremely large. However this is what can be expected of a True Desktop Replacement System and is not really a con. However posters before gave bad reviews because of this knowing that would be the case before they even bought it. If you want power you have to sacrifice portability and battery life to get it use common since. This system is well thought and designed well for what you are buying. In all trying to find a system with the specs that this one has you would spend more than double the price.

-Full Size Keyboard
-Vista 64
-Nice looking Laptop
-Nice Warranty
-12 cell battery ... more in cons

Cons: -Heavy... you cant have it on you lap
-The Screen is Dim even on high brig setting, colors are washed out.
-The the pad buttos are garbage, they need mayor muscle to press them and they make a very loud click
-4870 x2 with ddr3???? where is the ddr5???
-No Bluray Player
-NO video inputs...none
-Even with the lastest Catalyst the Games Studders every few minutes.

4 out of 5 eggsWorking well so far

Pros: There are few desktops that can compete with this laptop. I got the A1 variant (Quad core) due to future upgradeability, and this thing is screaming fast. There is little fan noise, very little heat generated, and the laptop is handling Revit 2009 and Acad 2010 superbly.

Cons: The viewing angle of this Asus is not that great. I was surprised to find significant darkening when you view the LCD from a 45 degree or greater angle. My aging Sager 5790 had a fantastic viewing angle despite its many other deficiencies. I hope that Asus recognizes this and will offer those of us who need great LCDs a remedy.

Lastly, Windows 7 will not load with the HD4870 X2. It crashes after most everything is installed and cannot move past the "Finalizing Installation" portion of the setup. Hopefully Microsoft addresses this issue soon since Vista is relatively poor at best and Windows 7 is a significant improvement.

Other Thoughts: Eventhough I did not buy this laptop from Newegg (they never have it available) I feel that this is one of the best places to post. This laptop is screaming fast (even with Vista as the OS). I'm able to run complex models without ANY stutter. The screen looks great when viewed straight on. The Asus w90 is not as big and heavy as my older desktop replacement (Sager 5970) which was truly huge and heavy, so I see this as a relief. If someone has been able to load Windows 7, or knows of a way to install it please enlighten the rest of us.

And, with any luck, Asus will provide a better LCD in newer manufactured W90s.

4 out of 5 eggsIssues with Crossfire

Pros: The laptop itself is amazing. If you tweak the individual speaker volumes via Realtek, you can yield some amazing sound. The screen is awesome. Very vivid, and the Splendid profiling system allows you to change the coloring scheme on the fly. Graphics on one card are amazing. Truly the most powerful laptop I've ever used (2.8 with a warranty-covered overclock past 3.2Ghz = amazing)

Cons: As I said. One graphics card. If I have it in Crossfire, any 2D interfaces or items will twitch and flicker like mad. No idea why. Sometimes in some games I'll get shadowy-thick scanlines. Not THAt noticable..but they're still there. I've updated drivers and everything. Disabling Crossfire is the only thing that seems to fix all these issues at the moment. Most likely a bad secondary card out of a recent batch (I'm assuming the secondary card is made separate considering it's flashed with a different vBIOS). Aside from that, the DVD drive literally sounds like it's about to explode anytime it runs at full speed. The drive vibrates in the optical bay and causes a crazy amount of sound. After you start watching a movie, it settles down a bit. Also, a minor annoyance is my keyboard, which for some reason registers one keystroke as two on various occasions. (i.e. I may sometimes type Google as Gooogle. Nothing major).

Other Thoughts: I'll most like RMA this laptop because of what seems to be various manufacturing defects. Beyond the shoddy secondary card, spaz-tastic DVD drive, and the keyboard, this is probably one of my best laptops. Its built like a tank, just as everyone says. No flex. No creaking. Workmanship on this is off to chart.

5 out of 5 eggsSlab of greatness

Pros: This is one of the best experiences I've had when purchasing a new "laptop". I used the default home vista premium the first day I owned this beast, and played through portal ( never played it before ). got some team fortress 2 in, and also some quakelive. No issues at all. The build quality on this laptop is excellent. The overclocking featurein TF2 really made a difference. No issues.

Cons: Just it's size, but there is no alternative these days for a more portal workstation. The provided backpack puts the weight on your back in the right places. If you are going between the office and home and don' twant to maintain 2 machines. this is the answer for you.

5 out of 5 eggsConrats !! to the lucky ones

Pros: I have some Questions about this Beast if you would be so kind to answer them..

Cons: Questions ? Is the sound realy that whimpy, is it better than the Qosmio x305 series? Is the Newegg version better for gaming than the A1 (with the Q9000). What is the 3D mark 06 score( default) stock, and with the overclock? Dose the bios have the option to set up for RAID? Is it true you can only overclock 15% over stock?
Do you ever go outside now that you have your Asus W90 ?

Other Thoughts: I realy apreciate any information you all might have.
Enjoy!! you lucky ones....

1 out of 5 eggsDIsappointed

Pros: Great laptop

Cons: after refreshing for 3 weeks was able to finally order and then what do you know I get somebody elses returned unit!! I mean how upset would you be? Scratches, stickers re glued, it is so obvious that it was repackaged. So now I'm stuck till monday to talk to Newegg about this. Will see how that goes....

Other Thoughts: I will change this review depending on how the conversation is gonna go with newegg.
