Pros: This is a great laptop. It is better than any other laptop i have found for its price. The graphics card plays every game I own on high settings smoothly. The quality of the screen was very nice. And having a full number pad also made this great. The fact that it looks really cool is just another plus.

Cons: As other reviews have mentioned, it does have a very short battery life. On the battery saving mode it has I can squeeze an hour and a half out of it just surfing the web. This doesn't really bother me though because i rarely every need to use it unplugged.

Other Thoughts: The mouse and the backpack included with it are also very nice!

Not so N compatable

Pros: Great memory and graphics card for the price

Cons: N and N(wide band) do not work on some systems. I could not get N or Nwideband to work on this system and after 3 hours with asus tech support I returned the laptop. I have to run Nwide band at the apartment because my neighbors have a 2.4 wireless phone somewhere. My roomate who has the 1300 asus model has an intel chipset and can run with no problem. This laptop has another chipset with no options in the driver. I tried 5 other drivers and 2 INF files I found online with others having the excact problem. IF you have to run N or N wide then this is not the laptop for you.

Great system - Wkstn replacement

Pros: This is my 4th or 5th laptop and the only one I would consider to be adequate replacement for a desktop unit. I upgraded to Vista 64 Ult and now have Win 7 Ult and nice/smooth upgrade. Fast bootup. Good balance of power/memory/hd/useful software utilities that aren't a bunch of padding. Screen is exceptionally sharp. Has all the built-in outputs, too: bluetooth, UDMI + TV tuner great for hooking up at the hotel to watch a DVD. I too am not much into the gaming thing so some of the special effects are not my thing, but the kids think it's cool (actually co-workers - but they're all kids, aren't they?). Good HD (agree with the earlier comment regarding RAID 0 -- wouldn't do much). Slim, slick design and good fan design. Not too heavy and and nice bundle of software. Backpack is actually pretty handy. Love the 10key keypad, too! Seldom do 15.4 screen-sizes come with a decent keyboard for biz use!

Cons: Battery power sucks unless you limit everything and then the screen suffers. Lucky to get 60mins out of the battery that comes with it. I bought the larger battery but this didn't provide much of a difference - maybe 20 more mins. I rarely use just battery power so not big deal.

Other Thoughts: I'm an IT developer and wanted a good laptop to take on these mandatory 2 week vacations we're req'd to take now. I've had this system since Dec 2008. Runs everything I throw at it and Win 7 seems to confirm that it's pretty solid going into the future. It's not quite a 100% desktop replacement but as close as I've been able to find, at a reasonable price. Asus' quality and dependability (I've built 20+ systems using ASUS mbds) is evident throughout, and their tech support/web site is excellent. Dell is good, too, but I find theirs and HP require extended warranties since the mboards fail once a year. ASUS designed this very well. Be nice to have Blu-ray for the price (seems to have everything else!) but that's another over-rated option, IMHO.

You won't be disappointed!
