5 out of 5 eggsI like it!

Pros: Nice stylish look. Love the keypad/full keyboard (though the right arrow key is where i'd usually hit the '0'). For the price it is loaded up with a lot of stuff that has yet to meet my demands. I've been using it to rip DVDs and then convert them to iPod format so I can watch my movies on the go and the system doesn't slow down at all. I'm converting one right now and I forgot because you just can't tell. For the light gaming I've done it's handled it (Sims 3 is probably the most graphics intensive i've done). Love the quickboot that Asus mobos are coming with now a days. for someone who just wants to surf and chat it's really convenient. Bloat ware wasn't really a problem (i mean... it *was* but for the lazy man's bloat ware "removal" just run msgconfig and uncheck most everything on the startup tab. next boot after that was very fast.

Cons: would have liked more battery life. granted i'm just using this to surf on the couch while I watch tv, I could never use it to watch a movie on a plane or anything like that. you're looking at 2 hours tops with normal use. Also, since it comes with Vista 32 bit you only get a little over 3 Gigs of memory out of the 4GB you pay for (not that i've noticed). When you first turn it on except to wait for about 1 hour while it installs all the bloat ware while you watch helplessly (but like i said you can get rid of it fairly quickly if you're laz). Also gets fairly warm when plugged in/processing a lot. not alarmingly hot, just enough to make your lap pretty toasty.

Other Thoughts: For the price, this laptop is yet to disappoint me. I don't use usually use it for any hardware intensive stuff, but it's nice to know i've got a lot of head room for things I can do on this machine. I shopped around a few months watching newegg's newsletters and hotdealsclub and this is one of the best deals i found for what i was looking for.... from what i can see it still is.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop!

Pros: Great laptop for the low price of $800. Plays most games on high, boots up very quick, and doesn't overheat. Full keyboard makes typing very easy and the sleak design is nice.

Cons: I am not a fan of Vista. Especially that it came with 32 bit Vista, instead of 64. But I suppose there had to be some catch to this great deal. I have not had any problems as of yet other than dealing with all the bloatware that is hampering the system resources. But I plan to uninstall these programs soon. After a Win7 install this fall, I am sure I will enjoy the 4GB of memory and system response even more!

Other Thoughts: Great choice for a gaming laptop on a budget. Very hard to find a laptop with a dedicated video card with 1GB for less than $1000.

1 out of 5 eggsI definitely got a lemon...

Pros: Nice design

Cons: I got a seriously messed up laptop. Numerous issues, sound cuts in and out, sometimes boots up properly, sometimes freezes on booting. I RMA'd once and Newegg claimed it was perfectly working, sent it back, and here I am still with a defective laptop. ASUS makes great components, but I'm a bit skeptical about their laptops. Though everyone else seems to have had a great time with theirs so I guess I just got the lemon in the bunch.

Other Thoughts: Buy it if you don't have the same luck I do with these sorts of things.

5 out of 5 eggsTotally worth it

Pros: Great graphics, runs TF2, L4D, and Spore on High, light weight, screen is clear and bright

Cons: Slow Processor for the price (only 2ghz dual), runs a little hot, install speed really slow, touch pad a little wierd

Other Thoughts: While the processor is rather on the slow side, the computer is better than by desktop on everything else except RAM. Well worth the total $1000(shipping, recycle fee, and tax jump it)

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: + Great Graphics
+ Very Quiet & Cool
+ Great Price for parts

Cons: -No separate buttons for left & right click
-Small (r) shift key

Other Thoughts: I really don't have any issues with this purchase. Very happy! I can't complain about battery life because I'll always have it plugged in. Nor bloatware, I formatted on arrival and installed x64 Vista Ultimate, which it handles very easily.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value, Vist Must Die!

Pros: -Great Bang for the buck
-Excellent Video Card
-Great Warranty
-Free Upgrade to Win 7 from June 26th

Cons: -Vista is Horrendus.
-Bizzaro World Screen Resolution

Other Thoughts: Vista hammers the hard drive almost constantly, I can't stand it on any system. There really isn't a better value for the money that I've found though, and a 2-year warranty with 1 year of accidental damage protection would cost a nice chunk of change on it's own, but it's included in the price of this laptop.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat components, weak materials

Pros: Fantastic hardware for a good price. Runs current games at acceptable levels. Games from a year past and farther will run great.

Cons: With great insides you'd think the case would be built to protect them. The monitor is flimsy, maybe at 17" that just happens. Near the speakers the case is also quite weak. On the topic of speakers, awkward placement that sounds interesting. Lacking bass. The touchpad button is clumsy and stiff. No middle click. Also heats up in weird places (Bottom of monitor, between touchpad and keyboard)

Other Thoughts: For the price, it works great. Get a usb mouse and a laptop cooler and you're set.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop

Pros: - Great performance
- Super Quiet (Can barely hear it)
- Hasn't gotten hot at all. This point is kind of surprising to me, since a lot of other reviews mentioned it. While playing TF2, Hellgate London, and The Sims 3 with graphics on high, the laptop really hasn't warmed up at all. The converter on the plug has, however, but it's not really a problem.
- Beautiful, crisp screen
- Nice resolution
- Great value
- Easy to find drivers

Cons: - Lots of bloatware
- 32 bit OS
- Shiny, so dust does show up easily on the laptop itself.
- Ends up costing about 100 dollars more after tax, waste fee, and shipping.
- It can be hard to figure out what you really need within the bloatware packages it comes with. (IE, trying to find out which oddly-named program will install the drivers needed for the function keys to work.)
- The off center touch pad and the texture of it can get annoying (Your finger kind of starts to drag on the surface), but if you use a mouse, it doesn't really matter.

Other Thoughts: Since I reformatted to Vista 64 bit premium, I couldn't use the CD to install drivers. I ended up using another computer to download the 64 bit drivers from the ASUS site (Which works quite well for driver downloads) and transferred them to the laptop. It's definitely phenomenal for gaming, and at 800 dollars, well worth it. Kind of annoying that the usb port is on the back for the mouse, but it's not really a problem either.

5 out of 5 eggsAbsolutely Great

Pros: - This is a great price for this kind of laptop ($800)
- Everything from the Duo Core to the Video card is great, though not all the RAM is used because it's Vista 32 Bit.
- Good Screen Size.
- This computer is speed for me.
- Nice Web Cam
- Runs Cool
- I actually like Vista. I haven't had any problems with Vista on this laptop or Vista on my custom made desktop. My desktop I have had for about a year and a half to two years.
- Great warranty

Cons: - Yes battery life is horrible but it won't really be bothersome unless you travel (meaning, not plugged in for power because you travel).
- It is a dust magnet but it really isn't that bad.
- I don't know why Vista does this but, Vista says I am missing administrator rights when I try to use some options on my "Spy-bot Search and Destroy" security program. I don't know why it doesn't recognize me as administrator when I have only one account on there...

Other Thoughts: I know one review here said that the speakers are in an odd place but they are totally fine.
