Pros: This laptop is extremely fast. It will burn through your games and multi threaded apps.

Cons: Its heavy, but what do you expect?

Other Thoughts: Now for people who would say the x1 model is better for gaming. On benchmarks it is, but in real life use using two cores at 2.0ghz is quite enough for todays games. Most of todays games dont use 4 cores. They are more demanding on the GPU. But games that require alot of proccessing power do support mulit core. Simply said in real life gaming you wont notice a difference with the quad at lower speeds, but in 3 years the people who bought the dual core model will be wishing they stuck with quad core.

Beautiful laptop but .......

Pros: Amazing form factor. Truly a desktop replacement. Impressive in quality of notebook design. Decent sound from the Altec Lansing speakers. The backpack is very high quality also.

I give 3 stars for what " could have been" an amazing product.
I have high hopes to get the situation rectified.

Cons: Driver support for the 4870 mobility version is not up to par as of yet. ATI has not updated a modded INF file for the latest drivers they released to ASUS on 3/31/09.

Asus support is questionable, as I had one tech tell me to " call back tomorrow because I do not know this model well enough to help you" - Asus does not have 24 hours support as they claim.

The W90 has the capacity to be a fabulous machine, but the mass production lacks serious quality control issues from my perspective. And, i have my doubts on Asus support, regardless if its 2 years... its seeming no better than Dell at this point.

Other Thoughts: RMA'd back to Asus as a DOA product.

I cannot review on gaming performance as my system has HDD isssue which did not allow installation wizard to run. Would lock up on installs.

Pros: Powerful laptop for the price, although the price has gone up now. Two Radeon 4870 cards inside that work as a 4870X2 with a really old driver now. Solid laptop for really nice gaming. Supports pretty much any processor that from an X9000/X9100 to the quad cores that they come with.

Cons: Has only one single driver that works with it, and it is from Feb 09. There are some chaps that have made a way to slip into the Cat 9.4 drivers, but from then on nothing. Totally unacceptable for these cards! You can use newer drivers, but you wont have crossfire or the control panel everyone has tried.

Other Thoughts: Thats it, fantastic laptop that is totally handicapped by ATI and ASUS's lack of video card driver support. You cannot even mod a driver past cat 9.4 to get it to work, many have tried. If they ever fix that, then this laptop will be gold! Since we are now up to Cat 9.8 and the official one is 9.2, then I'd say they are not supporting it anymore.. Shame on you ATI!

Pros: Best laptop for the money period. Will run anything and can OC well for a laptop. Best GPU laptop interface. Forget the 280M. Way too expensive.

Other Thoughts: Mainly writing this because I dont understand the driver support gripes. Go to ATI and go get em. They are new this month and are fine.

Destined to fail

Pros: It "had" a good price.

Cons: This laptop is a bad buy, let me tell you why:

They designed the GPU to work like a 4870X2 instead of two 4870's in crossfire. So getting modded drivers for this thing will always be a nightmare for anyone who tries, because you cant just use desktop drivers with a new inf. To make matters worse Asus has refused to put out new drivers for thier odd setup leaving you with old drivers that will cripple your performance. As far as I understand they are discontinuing this model as well.

Other Thoughts: So basically: You will pay for a performance machine, and get a subperforming machine thanks to old drivers. You will have no hope of driver updates from the enthusiest community since they havent been able to figure out a work around in any new drivers for 4 months, and you can look forward to the graphical gliches these things are notourious for. Dont buy this thing it is a dead end.
