2 out of 5 eggsOkay but not good

Pros: -Has great battery life
-Slim enough to carry around
-Decent performance for this class of laptops

Cons: -ASUS has ditched support for this product. Expect outdated drivers.
-Hybrid Graphics are horribly crippled by above. Prepare to research on hacked drivers.
-Due to how the computer saves power with hard drive power, the laptop tears through hard drives pretty fast.
-Provided wireless drivers will freeze the comp.

Other Thoughts: This laptop performs decently but there are many out there that are much more reliable. I can look passed the lack of driver support but what kills this laptop is the fatal flaw in the design that aggressively stops the HDD as much as humanly possible which kills hard drives extremely fast. This laptop has ran through three hard drives over the course of 1.5 years. That is not good at all. Would recommend you that you look for another laptop if you want reliability.

2 out of 5 eggsNice while it lasted...

Pros: - Great Battery Life
- Decent overall performance
- Nice keyboard w/ Numpad
- Very lightweight

Cons: - Terrible screen viewing angles
- inaccurate touchpad (bad multitouch as well)
- "Stiff" touchpad buttons. single-button design.
- somewhat weak build quality
- Asus "necessary" bloatware

Other Thoughts: I didn't expect the screen to fail in just 2 weeks. I suspect it's due to the flimsy chassis on the lid...the backlight is completely broken. Out of the 20 reviews here on Newegg, the one (perhaps only) bad review, I had dismissed mentioned their screen failure and a warranty nightmare. If i can't get this returned to Newegg, I may have well wasted $650.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Asus Customer,

We sincerely apologize if the display on the unit has failed. We would like to assist you with getting this unit serviced under the warranty terms. Please email me directly at aps_support@asus.com and provide your complete contact information and the notebook's serial number. Thank you.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat all-around laptop

Pros: -switchable graphics
-long battery life (9 hours avg.)
-beautiful design
-light weight for its size, very thin.
-great price, got it for 650 shipped during sale

Cons: -screen, contrast is weird, color is a bit off
-touchpad, no sensitivity adjustment, not very smooth
-no bluetooth
-smudge/fingerprint magnet
-no backlit keyboard
-upgradability (see other thoughts)

Other Thoughts: This probably one of the best portable 15in laptop on the market. At 1/3 price of a MBP, the performance on everyday task is very comparable. Unless you're into intense 3D gaming or hardcore business applications, the processing and graphics power that comes with this thing is more than adequate.
I am sort of disappointed by the internal design of this laptop, everything is integrated/soldered in which doesnt leave much room for upgrade except for harddrive and RAM.
I had a used Asus UX50v on my hand, which is Asus' first failed attempt at making a 15in ultraportable. But it did have everything the UL50 lacks: backlit keyboard, beautiful screen, and a responsive touchpad. I was planning on swapping out all these parts to upgrade my UL50, however it turns out that the touchpad is glued to the chasis, the backlit keyboard requires a separate power source from the motherboard, and the screen on the UX is edge to edge display so i cant figure out how to take it off....

4 out of 5 eggsAsus review

Pros: So i loved it from the beginning the discrete graphics card, and easy switch too. i can run games on there easily and it runs fast, very quiet i have installed a lot of games on there, if you like COD, WOW or any other MMO or First shooter, this was a good laptop

Cons: it seemed like the battery like was not good because i have it at 99% battery and i said 3 hours and 45min left in the time, and it does run low on battery quick and i thought that this was its big thing was long battery. and the key pad doesn't light up, and the .3 camera is a no no, along with the track pad.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop

Pros: Excellent Battery Life! This is by far the best pro. I use my computer quite a bit, and only charge it every other night. I get around 10.5 hours per charge using the settings I use.

I was also worried about the weight, but that has not been an issue. It's quite light, albeit still pretty large.

Numberpad... excellent.

The dedicated video card is fantastic. I don't play much, but do like to have the option. I played Assassin's Creed with medium/high settings and it ran quite smoothly.

Cons: This is not really a con because I knew it when I bought the laptop, but it would be nice if the screen were a bit higher resolution. I like to have many windows open at once and the 720p resolution just doesn't allow for much of that. That being said, the screen is great... good colors, etc.

5 out of 5 eggsWOW

Pros: Keyboard, Track Pad, Screen, Sound, Weight, Form Factor, Battery Life, Graphics card, Processor(yes i said it) and Pretty much everything.

Cons: Some people say that its a finger print magnet but it's really not....

Other Thoughts: I enjoy playing video games and i did not plan on playing any on this laptop, I thought that the processor would be way to slow to play anything worth while but i was shocked when i started to play Portal, Just cause 2 (demo) and Battlefield:Bad company 2 and relativity high settings.

This is NOT a gaming laptop so don't buy it for that but this laptops processor mean business and not its pitfall like i thought it would be.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible Experience

Pros: Long battery life

Cons: - Screen failed in less than 2 months.
- Trying to get a warranty repair has been a nightmare!
- Cheap construction.
- Bad track pad. Multi-touch track pad tracking is poor - just like many comments have pointed out.

5 out of 5 eggsAnother great one from ASUS

Pros: - Extremely attractive, very thin. Runs cool.
- 15.6 inch screen. Awesome.
- Multi-touch trackpad.
- Discrete graphics WITH integrated graphics.
- Processor can be used at 1.7 Ghz by default.
- 10 hours of battery life without worry. No joke.
- Great keyboard with numeric keypad.
- DDR3
- 1 year accidental warranty.

Cons: - Track pad is a little rough, along with the click bar. Quite annoying: already used to it.
- No lighted keys.
- Slower processor.
- Screen resolution could be higher.
- Worthless .3 MP webcam.
- No Bluetooth.
- Speaker quality is low, but bearable.
- Windows 7

Other Thoughts: This laptop is a solid buy for the money. I put in hours of research and this came out on top. Sexy and well performing. It suits me more than well: I am a college student. Perfect for constantly on the go.

You would want this laptop if: You want extreme battery life with a larger screen, and an attractive laptop with respectable performance. You travel.

You would not want this laptop if: You want to play high end gaming, or processor intensive work (video encoding, etc).

Note: The ASUS UL50Ag-A2 is the same thing for the same price, but DOES NOT INCLUDE THE DISCRETE GRAPHICS. This laptop gives you the best punch for your money. If you want a 15.6 inch laptop with good performance and intense battery life, this is your absolute best bet.

5 out of 5 eggsFirst week impression very good

Pros: Nice bright screen, no problem with keyboard, very fast (compared with my older desktop). Looks very nice, very thin and relatively light weight. Fast delivery from ASUS.

Cons: Fingerprints. Fingers easily stray off mouse pad (no discernable edge). User manual very scanty (no keyboard explanation).

Other Thoughts: Comes with C drive (75G) and D drive (208G). All data and programs are being installed onto smaller C drive. Don't know how to utilize bigger D drive. (ASUS HELP?)

There is a utility (Elan SmartPad) to change how mouse pad works. I used this to disable the single touch equals left-click function, as this was causing many false clicks.
