Awesome Unit
- Pros: Small, great battery life, does everything i need to do to supliment my desktop.
- Cons: None that i can see except it didn't come with a sleeve like most netbooks do. No reflection on Newegg for that though.
- Other Thoughts: I got this because we need another laptop in the house for my sister in law who is moving in. I gave her my old laptop and got this for me as I have a powerful desktop I built a month ago. Do not buy this if you are expecting to game or plan to use this as a primary machine. It's not intended to be used as a full on laptop or desktop. If you need a light weight machine for word processing, internet usage, and maybe some light programming (console development) then it's perfect for that. I installed Ubuntu netbook remix in a dual boot with a full install of Windows 7 professional and it runs beautifully. If u decide to do this use Ubuntu as your primary operating environment as it requires a lot less RAM and runs a lot faster then Windows 7.
Purchased as a gift and impressed
- Pros: My expectations were actually kind of low but I was pleasantly surprised. Windows 7 Starter is not bad. Installed VidoLAN (VLC) and put a few movies in Matroska video files on and playback was very very good. The device is for my daughter to toy with and do homework so it should get some decent use. Battery life is pretty good. Keyboard is not bad and I've got x-large hands.
- Cons: The bloatware/trial-ware took me sometime to remove. Replaced TrendMicro with Microsoft Security Essentials, but screen cannot be re-sized for the application.
- Other Thoughts: System performs better with ReadyBoost on a 4GB Class 6 SDHC card, going to up the RAM to 2GB. Looking forward to seeing my daughters eyes light up on xmas morning. Removed Works and Office trial, replaced with OpenOffice.org.
