Pros: Great price! Very lightweight. Cool black color. (People think I'm carrying a large book.) Good keyboard. Long battery life. Boots fast. Windows 7 connects to my Wi-fi network quickly. (Unlike Jolicloud) Good sleep & hibernate functions. Stays cool and quiet when unplugged (except when I accidently bocked the vent intake) Charges quickly.
Cons: Initial first boot took about 30 minutes as Windows 7 booted and setup. Awesome looking glossy black lid is a major fingerprint magnet. Only comes with Windows 7 Starter and 1 gb of RAM. I fixed this easily by installing a 2 gb chip and upgrading to Windows 7 Home.
Other Thoughts: This netbook does exactily what it's supposed to. I can surf the web, stream movies and music and play some simple games. It travels very well and has a very long battery life around 9 hours. It has good auto-clocking ablilties that can be set to manual if desired. Even if you set the cpu speed to high you'll get around 5 hours battery life. Upgrade to Windows 7 Home wasn't too painful other then waiting 45 minutes for it to install. Tried out the free netbook specific Jolicloud dual boot system, was a good alternate OS but it didn't get as much battery life or usability for the few lightweight programs I do use. (No offense to Linux users) I have optimized my Windows 7 Home netbook enough that I boot quickly and the Eee/ASUS functions work well.

Rating: 5/5ASUS is the only way to go...
Pros: This netbook stands apart from the others... my roomate has a DELL netbook and when we compare the EEE side by side- The differences are quite amazing... For starters, The EEE netbook comes in at the lightest around, you can feel the weight difference between the EEE and other NetBks. Another key difference is the battery life... I can unplug it and stream videos for 8hours PLUS... I have read other reviews saying they dont get battery life.. well, I assume they did not wait before playing with it... as soon as my EEE arrived, I plugged it in and let it charge a full 10 hrs before I opened the display or started it. - Another key is, After the first 10 hrs of charging it, You can start her up BUT you SHOULD leave it plugged in a full 24 Hrs for MAX Battery Power.
Another KEY feature is the external monitor port... attach any monitor and your EXTRA display awaits! ...and lets not forget the 3 USB Ports and the MIC and HDPHONE ports! ++++ and the Blue Tooth ++++
Cons: WINDOWS 7 Starter --- W/The Heck!?!? Honestly my biggest con is that I feel cond by microsoft--- I guess I should have done my research... Windows 7 STARTER does not allow you to do many things- and can you get this- It does not even allow you to change your desktop picture- If you would like to change your desktop picture, you must upgrade Windows 7 wich cost at least $120 ---- What the heck that is all about- I HAVE NO IDEA! - but it sure is messed up!
Other Thoughts: The EEE rocks!!! -- people dont quite get the small keyboard and touchpad --- to this I say "Spend two days loving her and you will master her small, sturdy, gentle frame." :-)
Some of my friends are MAC people --- They are all envious of how small and sleek the EEE is and they wish MAC had something other then the IPAD to offer them-- haha ... However, one MAC friend did discover that you can put the MAC OS on the EEE and it will transform into "SUPER MAC" thats kind of cool and since this WINDOWS 7 Starter thing bites... I just may learn to master MAC ....
Just a warning-- Be prepared to answer silly questions about the EEE if you take it out in public. -- That could be a GOOD thing -or- A BAD thing depending on your mood and the questions being asked :-)

Rating: 5/5Great Netbook, Awesome Features
Pros: Awesome battery life, mind you that you can only achieve 10.5hrs when you set all your software settings to power saver but can easily achieve 6.5hrs (continuous use) to 8hrs (off on use) on standard settings. Overall there was very little pre-installed bloatware to deal with and all added Asus features came in handy for fine tuning preferences. The convenient little zip pouch that comes with this model is very handy, and makes it easy to bring around without worry of scratching or damaging the computer. The keyboard responds nicely, the function keys allow for very easy use of all the features with out cumbersome software. The track pad is very comfortable, the textured pad seems much more responsive then that of the older types, along with the multi touch features adds to the overall experience.
Cons: Biggest con is that it comes with Windows Starter, I upgraded to Professional a few days after receiving it. I tend to use my laptop as a wireless router/hub for an xbox and another desktop on occasion, which is not possible with the Starter version. Other then that the only complain is an aesthetics one, the glossy finish collects finger prints like crazy. But this is an easy enough fix, whip it off.
Other Thoughts: I would highly recommend this model for any one looking for a laptop/netbook with high portablility and ease of use. This is a very low cost solution to computer needs, for under $300 bucks who can complain. I am a college student, so having a netbook for notetaking and on the fly email is a must. This is not my primary computer and I only use this for school work and trips, so I don't really push the 1005HA too hard. Though for opening .pdf files and running Microsoft Office, it does the job perfect.

Rating: 2/5Last Asus product I will buy
Pros: Looks good. Works as well as most.
Cons: Battery is junk! After 6 months the battery is just about useless. Never got anything close to the 11 hours advertised. Have not used the computer very much eather.
Other Thoughts: I am a system builder (15 years) and have seen Asus products go down hill for some time now and have stopped using them...a shame. For the price of a new battery I might as well purchase a new netbook, Will not be an Asus.

Rating: 2/5Battery Died after 8mos!!!
Pros: Great battery life while the battery worked (see below). Nice glossy screen when viewed inside. Keyboard comfortable to use. Great for light work and general use.
This was my first netbook and a joy to use while the battery worked. I rated it 2 eggs due to the premature battery failure and refusal by ASUS to offer a replacement battery for an apparently not-so-uncommon issue. Since netbooks are nearly identical between manufacturers due to the nature of the platform, I'd consider other makes/models that don't have battery issues.
Cons: This is my first review of a product I've purchased. It is not the first time I've had to deal with a defect or failure but it is the first time the manufacturer has not offered a satisfactory resolution.
Fan speed gets stuck occasionally, requiring shutdown-restart to reset speeds (annoying, but manageable). Screen hard to view when outdoors, even while under shade. Body plastic is easily scratched due to high-gloss finish.
Highly disappointing battery policy, considering battery failure is not-so-uncommon.
Other Thoughts: After approximately 8 months of moderate use, the battery appears to have died. The battery life indicator is stuck at 34% even though there is 0 charge (netbook shuts down if AC power is removed).
In researching this problem online, I have found that it is not uncommon and that ASUS even has a troubleshooting "fix" for it. ASUS suggested I drain the battery, remove it from the netbook and try charging it after 24hrs. This DID NOT work and ASUS WILL NOT provide a replacement battery as they are only warrantied for 6mos. Instead ASUS says the only solution is to purchase another battery for $180 (!!!) at their estore.
I am highly disappointed, considering this is not an isolated problem. I will NOT purchase a new battery that costs over 50% of the netbook's original purchase price. Furthermore, due to ASUS's customer service or lack thereof, I will NOT purchase another ASUS product, whether it is an EeePC or desktop components.

Rating: 5/5great little netbook
Pros: Small, light, has great battery life, screen is easy to see in any lighting conditions.
Cons: the high gloss finish is a fingerprint magnet and shows scratches really good
Other Thoughts: The A/C adapter that a lot of people have been complaining about has a thermal protection built in I believe, if you have it plugged in for an extended period of time where its not getting good cooling (under a pile of clothes or in between the couch cushions) it will shut off no blue light no nothing and the netbook will switch to battery power, if you uncover it and leave it for about an hour or so to cool it comes back on. at least thats worked for me quite a few times.

Pros: Does what I need it to, pretty.
Cons: One month and three days after getting it the power adapter goes dead. This is a known issue since mid/late 2009, I've found NUMEROUS posts on the net about this. So here is where it all falls apart. Adapter goes dead...even though this is so long after the problem made its appearance to where ASUS should have fixed it, but whatever...I call ASUS. They say send them the bad adapter (WHICH I HAVE TO PAY SHIPPING!!) and as soon as they get it they will send me a replacement. Fine, I can't be bothered to argue about sending them back THEIR defective product that they knew about for months, I go to the post office and send it back the same day. I keep reading online and I see numerous people say they waited WEEKS before they got replacements. I decide to call ASUS the next day and ask them again how soon after they get the bad adapter will they send the new one. They tell me it’s been OUT OF STOCK for a few days and they don't know when will get any more!! I told them I don't want anything
Other Thoughts: to do with them anymore and to send back my defective adapter when they get it. I've bought 3 laptops and numerous motherboards by ASUS and recently recommended this netbook to a friend. NEVER AGAIN! For a company to (1) be out of stock of something they KNOW goes bad and not know when they are getting more, and (2) require me to pay to ship back something they KNOW goes bad...obviously because they are always out of stock...is beyond unacceptable. So now I have a netbook sitting down with no power. Great.
I recommend you buy a netbook from a company that can get something as simple as an adapter right.
Also, the display glitches sometimes and goes black then comes back. Hasn't happened often enough for me to care yet...but be forewarned.
(And please, I don't need one of the Asus reps apologizing and telling me to contact them with a reference number unless you have an adapter sitting and waiting for me) I’ll never buy another Asus product.

Rating: 1/5Not worth it
Pros: Good size, battery life. It runs fairly quickly if you upgrade the memory a little bit.
Cons: This machine has caused me nothing but trouble. Five months after purchase it began shorting out. Six months after purchase, it had to be completely reformatted by a local service center because Windows had mysteriously been corrupted beyond repair. Seven months after purchase, the AC adaptor failed. And yesterday, seven and a half months after purchase, a trojan made its way through four anti-viral/malware/spyware programs AND full Windows firewalls and destroyed the system. At seven months old, I need a new portable computer entirely.
Other Thoughts: This machine has a good visual design, but it's riddled with reoccurring problems. When I was at the service center, there were four other people with Eee PCs the same age with the same problems. I would not recommend this machine to anyone, and I feel as though I wasted my money.

Rating: 5/5Great Netbook
Pros: This netbook is awesome. The battery life is incredible, I am able to use it without plugging in it for more than 10 hours. I also like the fact that it includes both wireless N and Bluetooth. With all the included features including a good sized hard drive I love it!
Cons: The only thing i wish it had was an extra Gb of memory. I have yet to upgrade this, but even at 1 gb it's not that bad for my uses.
