1 out of 5 eggsNo available power adapter = useless

Pros: Great laptop overall, no complaints

Cons: There is not one site anywhere else that stocks a charger for this laptop. I even called ASUS and they couldn't point me in the right direction. What a shame, I have a perfectly good laptop sitting here with no charger.

5 out of 5 eggsPleased

Pros: Price. 2GB memory. 12.1 inch screen. No Microsoft tax. The hardware blows away any Intel Atom netbook I could find in the same price range.

Cons: An Athlon II dual core laptop with 4GB of ram and 15" screen just went on sale for only $20 more than what I paid for this one. Dang!

Other Thoughts: Happy with what I got for the $$$. Ubuntu 10.04 works out-of-the-box except for wireless. I see that others have wireless working with a simple patch available in an ubuntu ppa, but haven't tried that yet.

5 out of 5 eggsSweet! Just like candy

Pros: Great value for your money when you consider no M$ tax, 2GB of ram and a decent video card. Some other owners have reported a somewhat spongey <sp? keyboard flex on the left side for some keys, mine has no such issue, I imagine its luck of the draw. The screen is vibrant and crisp and NO dead pixels. Given the ubiquitous nature of USB options for peripherals you can pretty much connect anything you want to this little baby. It sure is light and even feels sturdy and well built, ASUS chose a quality plastic in my estimation. If a fully featured laptop was a 9/10 and a feature packed netbook was a 3/10 I'd say this baby rates about a 6/10 comparatively. In a nutshell its the best of both worlds.

Cons: None that I can think of really. Yes the battery life is a little shorter than other netbooks but this is a trade-off for the chipset and gpu. Not really a concern for me

Other Thoughts: If this thing does'nt meltdown on me inside 2yrs i'll be a happy camper. What can you say about NewEgg that hasn't been said before? They are simply a stand up company that take care of their customers and I can say that first hand. Big shout out to Joan C. of NewEgg imho you went out of your way to help me resolve an issue and I'm very grateful to you, you are a good egg (yah I know but I couldn't help myself) :)

5 out of 5 eggsWhats the trick?

Pros: This computer is the best of both netbooks and laptops, sure theres a power trade off but i'm ok with that. I'll post a better review later.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: Is there a trick to installing win7? I've tried a brazillion times via usb but the setup consistently fails stating "Windows cannot install required files blah blah the file may be corrupt or missing. Error code 0x80070570". Linux installs and runs fine. Please someone help me out if you can. MODS please move if inappropriate.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad

Pros: No pre-installed OS, faster AMD processor vs. an Atom. Lightweight and battery life is all right for me. I expected the trade off for a faster processor. 2 GB of memory is OK - not great, but for the price it's fair. Discreet graphics is a plus. Ubuntu loaded like a champ and runs well. Keyboard is comfortable to type on, though I prefer my larger notebook for long projects.

Cons: Max 2 GB of memory is disappointing, as is the PC2-5300 spec. Not a huge issue for a netbook, but I'm fairly positive 4 GB of memory would turn this thing into a potential everyday computing solution for some. Fingerprint magnet, although that's a minor issue.

Other Thoughts: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (32-bit) runs quite well. As far as I can tell, no one has a hacked driver package for the 64-bit version out yet. Ubuntu performance tops Windows XP and 7 quite easily from what I've tried. Running XP in Virtualbox on Ubuntu was faster for me than running it natively. Good buy for the price.

5 out of 5 eggsI love it.

Pros: My first netbook. Windows 7 and Ubuntu installed easily. Light and faster than my old laptop. Battery lasts about 3 to 3.5 hours.

Cons: No antigravity function.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Wanted: Linux, a cool running 11=13". Once I found that Jupiter sw would regulate cpu speed I jumpted to buy. Ubuntu-10-4 works well. Screen has about same detail as my 15;6" laptop.

Cons: Touchpad buttons do not work well with touchpad to move or size windows.
Only some of the Fn keys work under Ubu, using sw instead for those, I should be able to fix this. Loaded OS not useful so simply repartitioned disk to 6,6,2,balance to allow for two versions of linux, a swap, and data partitions.
Adding Jupiter (ASUS provides similar driver for MS) is not easy for ordinary users.

Other Thoughts: Without Jupiter, PC runs warm like other laptops. Pity ASUS does not present a loaded Ubuntu with this driver. This is a great and reasonable product, but for work on spreadsheets I prefer my larger notebook. Note I am writing this while watching an opera on HD(compressed previously..

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate on video drivers

Pros: This is an update regarding poor flash performance due to the netbook being limited to asus support for the video drivers which I think are a version that does not have hardware flash support. If you google 1201t ATI 10.6 you "might" see a link on how to get the most modern drivers to install. It involves downloading a hacked installer that bypasses a hardware check. As it turns out there is no reason that the newest drivers shouldn't work, except for this imposed backlist. Once it is removed HD flash works very well, although it is much more smooth with cool and quiet disabled.

Cons: This netbook did not have really any cons, now it is just that much better.

Other Thoughts: Love for newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Netbook

Pros: Nice screen, great wireless range, runs 7 fast, streams fast, hard to tell it's a netbook

Cons: Left side of keyboard doesn't feel solid like the right, but keyboard is nice overall.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing little beast

Pros: Price, mobility, features. I ride a bike most places, so lugging around a 15lb laptop would be unpleasant. This "netbook" fits in my backpack along with books and other assorted things well, and weighs next to nothing. This thing blurs the lines between netbook and laptop. It has the features of a laptop twice the price with the concession of smaller screen and no OS. No OS is a fantastic thing though, as others have pointed out. No OS means no bloat and gives you the flexibility of picking the OS you want.

Cons: No OS also means installing. Some drivers from ASUS don't seem to work, check "jloman" post for the wifi (the only driver that I was having trouble finding).

The rigidity of the keyboard leaves a little to be desired. It is a little disconcerting how it flexes, but I've gotten used to it.

I have a lit keyboard for my desktop, and I really wish the 1201T had one as well as the keys can be hard to see in low light.

Other Thoughts: If you have some tech savy and the time and willpower to install an OS, this is the best laptop you'll find for anything close to this price.
