5 out of 5 eggsGood Bargin

Pros: Fast. Pretty. Accidental Damage Coverage.

Cons: 6-Cell Battery doesn't offer much longevity. It's Hot. I can't have relations with it. Said I look fat in this dress.

Other Thoughts: Got this to replace my 2009 MBP. I'm glad I did. Tried getting ASUS to send me 32bit version of W7 but they said they couldn't. Multitouch works well.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome Laptop!

Pros: Almost everything. This laptop is fast. The core i5 processor is perfect for almost every application. I could get almost every 32bit application to run on it except for 3 games. The fan is silent and the keys have the "right" give to them for writing long messages or letters.

Cons: Only 3 USB 2.0 ports. Only a 5,400 RPM hard drive. where the K52Jr (same specs) sold elsewhere has a 7,200 RPM hard drive. Asus' technical support. The applications partition "C:\" is only partitioned at 120Gb on a 500Gb hard drive.

Other Thoughts: This is a very fast laptop. I did buy disk partitioning software and enlarged the "applications" C:\ partition of the drive. Because by default everything wants to install to C: and made the D:\ "data" partition much smaller since data takes up so little roon. But I don't regret buying this laptop for a moment. It handles everything I throw at it. Photo editing, heavy gaming. Having 6 programs open all at once and the fan never switches over to high where I can hear it. A well built machine. The only really bad thing I can say is Asus' tech support. You can never seem to get through to a "chat" rep so you have to leave an e-mail support form. Which takes them 2 days to get back to you.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't buy

Pros: works good and is fast.

Cons: I have been using asus motherboards in my systems for years with great satisfaction. I got this laptop because of the brand but now I'm seriously thinking of throwing it away because their customer service does not exist. I mailed off the card twice for the warranty and both times it was returned. I called asus and go the run around and one lady said she did not even know which model I was talking about. Good job they sell stuff and their employees don't even know what the heck they sell. It said that I had 60 days to return the warranty card and now it's almost past that. If I can not even get a warranty card to them then I can only imagine if I ever have an actual problem with the laptop and try to get the warranty put into use. HORRIBLE customer service. I don't care how great your product is if you can not service your customers then I don't want to give you my business. BUYER BEWARE!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop!

Pros: To start off with this thing is beautiful. I own the brown version newegg used to have of this and I'm loving it. This being my first laptop I was a little scared if I purchased the wrong one for what I wanted to do with it. I was wrong to be scared. Don't hesitate to buy this laptop.

Graphics: I've played Diablo 2 with no problems, yes this is an old game I know, and also Counter-Strike: Source on D2 getting an average of 130-150 fps. That is better than my 8800GTS 640MB in my desktop gets! I don't know why Windows scores the graphics so low because it really does a great job.

Ram: 4GB DDR3. Not much else needs to be said here. Performs like a dream.

This thing surfs the web like a dream as well. Before I learned of the multi-touch controls on the trackpad I was a little bummed but now I love scrolling through web pages.

Cons: Fingers prints! The case shows them off pretty well.

Keyboard: I'm not sure if I'm just not used to laptop keyboards or what but it feels very springy. It is somewhat loud as well. At first i was concerned but it seems to be something I just have to get used to because it works great otherwise.

HDD: I've read that the HD used in these making a chirping sound. Well it does and is a little annoying if you are in a quiet room. I plan on putting a WD 7200rpm drive in this anyways so I will live with the extra noise till then.

Battery cord: Depending on where your cable is running your wire will block the dvd bay from opening. Just make sure the wire is out of the way before you open it.

Bloatware: Comes with a bit on it. I just uninstalled most of it that I didn't want. I will do a clean install of Windows when I purchase a new HD for it.

Other Thoughts: The cons I listed are small and wont take eggs off of this product. It is a super sexy laptop and has others drooling over it. My version is the brown one and I love how it blends in with the black. I'm sure the all black version here looks just as beautiful. I don't own any newer games to test this on but I'm sure this will play Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, and Guild Wars 2 when they come out.

4 out of 5 eggsGood price/functionally balance

Pros: Shinny and sleek looking and quiet. Runs wow well at 55 fps in SW and 26-40 in Dal all settings at max other then shadows. Full num-pad. About 55sec boot time with bloatware removed. Some mention the hot air as a con but I think its good to know that its pushing the heat out well, the bottom and keypad stays cool. Loving win7 (went from XP) Seems to have good wireless range. Touch-pad has a nice texture to prevent finger stick and makes it easy to find, unlike some laptops.

Cons: More bloatware then what I had expected from Asus but it was not to bad to remove.
Did not seems to handle dirt2 all that well but was playable.
Space key would not press unless it was pressed directly in the center and with a little more pressure then most other keys. I don't think with is a common issue as I have not seen any posts on it. With a little tweaking this was fixed myself.

Other Thoughts: A well rounded laptop works well for work and non-hardcore gaming...whatever that is:P
Sound has a good volume range.

1 out of 5 eggsStay away from NewEgg

Pros: Nice laptop, worth the price. Don't like the monitor but love everything else.

Cons: Monitor, the Monitor on my six year old XPS is better, however that is the ONLY con.

Other Thoughts: The first laptop I received had a bad DVD Rom so I RMA'd it. After 1.5 weeks I got the replacement with NO restore disks. I have been trying for two weeks to get the problem resolved. No one seems interested. I will never buy from NewEgg again no matter how good the deal is. Sad, I always liked NewEgg and my brother and I have made quite a few purchases from them.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid unit.. one caveat

Pros: This is a solid fast performing unit that as shipped is a great buy, especially at this cost. I normally wouldn't post a very short review, but did want to note something (see other thoughts)

Cons: Air from side is -very- hot. Don't burn your lap :)

Other Thoughts: This should be a dying fact, but I run into this often. When I client asked to put XP on this.. let me point this out: trying that is a useless task. Asus doesn't support it, (no drivers there) you can use driverpacks to get some, but the ATI driver isn't available, and 10.3 is Beta only right now.. and hard as all get out to find. So, if you are even thinking about prepping this with XP.. stop.

5 out of 5 eggsPleased

Pros: I bought this to update a five year old compaq. My main purpose was for surfing web and playing WOW. Well it serves this purpose very well. Plays wow at about 29 FPS in crowded detailed areas and about 60 FPS in more open areas, this is with all setting at full except for shadows being at low detail.

Windows 7 is great, the visual logon doesn't recognized me a lot of the time but is still a cool showoff feature. Working on this notebook is quick and snappy, it keeps cool and has a decent display. Overall I am very happy with the purchase. I did buy it when it came out at 750 with free shipping but its still a fair price. I would buy again, newegg always rocks..

Cons: The only thing I really don't like about the notebook is the lack of external volume control. My old compaq had this and I am constantly reaching for a mute or volume button that doesn't exist. Not a hugel but would have been nice to have. Minimal bloatware and easy to remove.

Other Thoughts: I did a lot of reading and studying before I made a decision (thats half the fun). If you are looking for a budget notebook to play games, do business and surf the web, this is a great pick. This is a very fair gaming machine and has a good amount of harddrive space for anything you want to put on it. Buy one and I think you will be glad you did.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Good Deal

Pros: -Descent Graphics Card
-4gb ddr3

For those who don't know about the i5 cores from intel.... Intel put hyper threading technology into the i5 and i7 cores. This means that it simulates more cores that are actually there. For example. this particular i5 has 2 cores, but because of the hyper threading, it simulates 2 extra cores. So with windows 7 it acts as a quad core even though you only have 2 physical cores.

Cons: none that i can think of so far.

Other Thoughts: As others have stated, getting a 7200 Drive wouldn't hurt.
