5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop

Pros: 17.3 inch screen is very nice and bright.
Speedy.
Good HDD.
Nvidia Optimus technology is awesome. Really saves alot of power with the seemless transition.

Cons: Bearly fits in a 17 in backpack.
Fingerprint magnet

Other Thoughts: I got this laptop for school and a little gaming on the side. I didn't realize how big it would be. A 15 in. would be perfect for school. I can almost use this thing as a substitute for a desktop pc.

5 out of 5 eggsExceptional Value

Pros: It arrived in perfect working order. No dead Pixels quite rapidly from Newegg to my door - a drop ship from the buyer for final set-up.

USB 3.0
eSata
2nd internal Drive connection available
Respectable overall performance
Excellent video replay - a pleasure to watch.

Cons: None that are not inherent in any unit that aims for slim construction but sturdy build while delivering an excellent feature set at a very reasonable price and exceptional warranty.

Other Thoughts: I advised on and then performed the initial updates, back-ups, tweaking and testing for a professional couple/client in the area.

The unit was acquired from NewEgg in mid May, 2010. Because of the implementation of two fairly new high speed external interfaces I spent additional time with the unit.

Finally, when purchasing a laptop today with initial budgetary constraints balancing against performance demands and potential future usefulness - never forget that SSD's are now becoming affordable.

The performance difference is obvious & SUBSTANTIAL

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Just Fine

Pros: Works Just fine .Nice big screen, big letters on the key board, easy to use,has an easy to make recovery dvd its the first thing it wants u to do.Loads games and files fairly fast, the built in camera works fairly well, all in all a fairly high end laptop for the money.I have ASUS products for my desk top machines i have built, this is the first i bought a completely not have to build machine.I chose ASUS cause I have never had any trouble with any of their products.

Cons: Doesn't have a really bright screen its OK it won't burn my eyes, has way too much programs loaded in to it, but its easy to uninstall them.

Other Thoughts: With all of the complaints that i read in the reviews I feel very lucky not to have any thing go wrong with what I buy from NEWEGG,And as always fast fast delivery. Thanks Newegg for your service. Any way a good laptop for the money.

5 out of 5 eggsFast with lots of features

Pros: USB 3.0!! Fast system; beautiful display; fast HDD (I have yet to plug in my other internal HDD but ASUS customer support assured me you just have to plug it in - no additional cables needed - which was my experience with my Acer.)

Cons: All ports are on the sides in the front (see "other thoughts"), fingerprints (just keep a screen cleaning cloth in your notebook case); too much promo software; a little pricey but I got nearly everything I wanted (would have preferred Intel i5 over i3)

Other Thoughts: When you plug anything into the ports, the cables are in the way. I use a wired trackball and lots of other wired peripherals (CF card reader, printer, external HDD, etc.) so the hard ends of the cables and the cables themselves are in my way. When working in the field, I don't have lots of room to work so this is very annoying to me. Fortunately this is my only complaint. I've cleaned off the trial programs and keep a screen cleaning cloth handy to wipe off fingerprints - they don't annoy me nearly as much as the placement of the USB and other ports. LOVE USB 3.0!! Between the faster PC, USB 3.0 and a high-speed CF card reader, I'm saving hours every day in the time it takes to download hi-res images when I photograph an event.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop!

Pros: Love the nVIDIA optimus technology, saves a lot of the battery, but still runs nice and smooth. Keyboard is really nice and the keys are nice and spaced out. Multi Touch, mouse pad is great for shortcuts. Runs MW2 very smoothly on high settings, framerate drops to about 25 if you put it on the extra settings. Runs all my other games 40-60FPS.

Cons: None really except sometimes when you put it to sleep and wake it up, the screen doesn't turn on. All you have to do to fix this is hit the power button so it sleeps again then turn it on.

Other Thoughts: Everyone is complaining about how it always wants to use the integrated graphics, well if you know anything about computers it's not to hard to figure it out. First go here:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/optimus_win7_x64_notebook_189.42.html
Then open up the control panel, and set prefered graphics to high performance nVIDIA. And if that still doesn't work for a game, go to the next tab over and manually set the graphics card to run it by selecting the applications .exe file you want the nVIDIA to use. This is a new technology, give it a little bit for patches and things to fix it, or just look up how to use it. People need to stop being so lazy.

1 out of 5 eggsavoid at all costs

Pros: none updating my previous review

Cons: graphics leave much to be desired , constantly runs on the Intel graphics which is slow, screen flickers badly on bootup , bluetooth and touch pad do not work, keyboard no longer works

Other Thoughts: tryed talking to tech support while they were polite , they were of no help and a waste of my time My last asus product EVER and I will boycott them period

4 out of 5 eggsshould have smaller chassis

Pros: Everything but the chassis size

Cons: It should have everything the same, except be in a 15.6" chassis.

Other Thoughts: Seriously, what is wrong with laptop makers? Give us matte finishes on every surface but the screen, fingerprint magnets are bad. Give us high quality screens, 1600x900 or better with a contrast ratio of AT LEAST 500:1. Give us a dedicated GPU and any cpu that supports 2GHZ or more with 4 threads.
