4 out of 5 eggsGreat notebook

Pros: + Price/performance ratio
+ New Intel GMA brings usable intel graphics
+ Light yet solid feel
+ Asus Warranty is second to none
+ Vent design, draws very little air from the bottom
+ Port layout, no rear usb = no snapped thumb drives
+ Decent battery life considering the hardware
+ Aesthetics, texture on palm rest
+ In general, I love Asus. For my clients/friends/family, I insist on their motherboards. This is the third of their notebooks I have ordered, and they consistently deliver.

Cons: - Bloatware is in no short supply
- Mouse button feels very cheap, almost foreign compared to the rest of the notebook. Like an Autozone LED shift knob in an Audi.
- Nobody needs a 3D application to change screen brightness and volume level.
- Startup time is sub par
- The smart logon face recognition can be used with a picture of the person. If you use it, don't have pictures of yourself in your house.
- Some may not prefer the partition layout
- Seriously, the bloatware

Other Thoughts: Overall, another great product from Asus.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Computer!

Pros: So far I love the computer and have had no problems with it! Very fast processor for what I use it for (word processing, movies etc). I love the keyboard. Keys are spaced out more than the Dell I had previously. I know some people didn't like the mouse pad but I actually really like it. The clickers aren't my favorite but they work well. It is one solid bar (not split like my last computer) so I often catch myself trying to push the middle. It is probably a matter of getting used to it.

Cons: Casing seems to be somewhat lightweight but I haven't had any issues with it. I do wonder how it will hold up long-term though. Likewise the keyboard is a little flimsy (flexes when I type) but still works great. Like others have said the sleek black finish shows finger prints/dust very well but obviously this does not affect the computers performance which is what I bought it for.

One other thing that I was not super excited about was the HD was formatted into two separate drives. One for the 'OS' and one for 'Data'. Personally I would prefer it to be all on one drive. Also came with a lot of pre-installed software, most of which I probably won't use. Its a matter of a few minutes to uninstall it though.

Other Thoughts: Great computer! I would recommend it to anyone! HUGE upgrade from the last computer I had (Dell Latitude D610)

5 out of 5 eggshoney of a machine

Pros: Fast system, handles multiple business operations as well as online WoW gaming. Seamless connections to hotel and home internet. Nice brown color instead of the traditional black. Heat vents to the left rather than underneath. Facial recognition for security, reasonable microphone. Chiclet keyboard with some minor give that Actually feels good when typing.

Cons: Slow boot -up but did improve with removal of start-up items that were not necessary,. Had to upgrade the drvers for the touchpad to get it to lock out when I wanted to use the mouse.
Speakers are minimal, but I expected that on a laptop. Camera quality is grainy but then again expected.

Other Thoughts: I am very pleased with this machine. The newest Intel graphics card functions way above its predecessors and I am able to get alot of play function out of what otherwise is a sound business machine! Perfect machine for the money spent.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: light weight, good screen, aesthetically appealing as far as where all the outlets are on the sides. the little sounds it makes are nice too

Cons: This puppy did not meet my standards whatsoever, the start up takes forever, nearly 1 min and 40 seconds (and I'm not counting the very first start up where it asks you all the registration questions), my current computer which is nearly 6 years old and has nearly no memory left takes about that long. Second, the fan was quite loud, which made me laugh because it comes with a sticker that says both "ultra quiet" and "super fast start up". Admittedly, I think I received a dud, and I'm sure not all of these Asus computers are like this.

But here's what all of these Asus computers probably will have in common: what has to be the worst designed mouse area I've ever encountered. It almost feels like sand paper, and hurt my finger after a while. Also, the mouse button felt very cheap like it was about to fall off. If you plan on using this computer, get a USB mouse for sure.

Other Thoughts: I'm not someone who gets a new computer every year or two, I get one and I'm in it for the long haul. However, this thing did not meet my satisfaction for a long term computer, even without the long load up time and strange fan/noise issue (did I forget to mention all the "bloatware" it comes with?), but the mouse issue alone is enough for me to conclude Asus is not in the business of making computers that satisfy my needs. Not sure where to look elsewhere, but look I will as I already returned this one.
