3 out of 5 eggsSolid Netbook

Pros: Works well for price. Bought it for college and carried it in my hands like any book. Starts up quickly and runs quietly so as not to bring any attention or too disturb class. Keyboard is very well designed with space between keys typos are uncommon. Wireless works great as well as the super hybrid engine. Battery life is absolutely amazing when desired (its true up to 11 hours for the model I bought which was the 1005PEB (no longer available apparently) so I am writing my review here for comparison.

Cons: It had a difficult time playing 720p from youtube or Windows media player (or anything for that matter).
The mousepad is so sensitive and large that I often accidently click it while typing and it goes to wherever the cursor is and I type in the incorrect place, so just watch out for that. ONE HUGE CON: One day I went to sleep with it playing music on my nightstand and woke up the next day and it didnt work. I had no external CD drive so I wasn't about to use the diagnostic CD to verify the problem till 5 months later when I borrowed one from a coworker of mine. I found out that somehow overnight C:/windows became totally corrupt and botched my netbook, it would start booting windows, then simply shut off. Startup repair wouldnt fix the problem so I just reformatted. This is why I gave it three stars, because I know what I'm doing with computers so I was able to fix it (when it broke it had just went outside the warranty so thank...gosh... I knew how to fix it)

Other Thoughts: Very good brand, very good netbook, I can't necessarily blame asus or the netbook for the failure....more like blame microsoft for making windows 7 "starter edition". But since I don't know what caused the problem (it wasnt a virus, I am very careful with my downloads and consistently check for problems) I have to lower the eggs on the netbook for the failure.
Had it not failed on me, I would rate it a 4.5/5 simply because it's powerful enough for the average college student with the exception of running HD videos.

And for the SUPER tech nerds out there, I did manage to overclock the CPU (and GPU because it's on the die) to 2.1Ghz and so far is stable. I can run WoW on low settings, with very bad FPS, but that is likely an issue stemming from only 1Gb of ram. I ordered a 2Gb stick from corsair for $32 which should drastically increase my FPS. Coupled with a wireless tether program on my Droid X, I can walk around ANYWHERE and browse the web. People are often amazed at this gadget.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -Great netbook for simple tasks such as surfing the internet and skype

Cons: -Windows 7 starter sucks
-Only 1 gb

Other Thoughts: Overall it was a great buy because it was on sale. It was for my wife and she only uses a computer for facebook, skype, etc. I would upgrade the ram to 2gb and load windows 7 ultimate. Runs great and she loves the pink haha.

5 out of 5 eggsGorgeous Netbook

Pros: Very lightweight, great battery life (and if not, very portable chords). Keyboard takes only a little time to get used to. Impeccably fast, even without 1gb ram upgrades or upgrade to full Windows 7. I want to do the upgrade, just don't have the money yet. Also, the mousepad is perfect. The bumpy texture is not annoying at all to touch or use.

Cons: The screen resolution is a bit grainy. Not perfect, but then again it is just a little netbook. You hardly notice though. I thought I would, but I don't mind it at all =).

Other Thoughts: This computer is still new to me, so if I find anything I don't like, I'll be sure to come update this review =D

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for the girlfriend

Pros: Pretty nice little net book - girlfriend loves how pink it is. I didn't expect a whole lot out of it since it is a netbook, but it performs quite well for basic usage.

+Webcam quality
+Sound quality
+Streaming video
+Light gaming
+Express Gate is actually pretty cool and quick, but not sure if I'll ever actually use it
+Feels sturdy and the keys are nice

Cons: -Windows Starter (but they all come with it and she doesn't seem to care)
-1gb ram
-Takes a long time to first initialize and boot up isn't too fast

Other Thoughts: I've never owned a netbook, but I think this one is pretty nice and perfect for the girlfriend. She just needed something for internet and typing and didn't need an actual laptop.

Purchased 2gb ram for it instead of 1gb and I might put W7 Home Premium on it. Not sure yet.

So far so good, hopefully this lasts a while. Battery life is at about 4-5 hours right now, but after a few charges it should reach its max. Would definitely recommend for any girl out there who needs a basic net book for internet/typing/email.
