4 out of 5 eggsVery Good

Pros: After 4 months, i can say that for the price it's a excellent laptop! Will easily run average graph games and faster that i tought it would be.

Cons: Very weak speakers. You need something else on it or headphones. And can freeze when you comeback on windows after sleep mode...

Other Thoughts: If you use headphones like me and turn it off when your done... you will love it!

1 out of 5 eggsCheap/Flaky

Pros: Fairly lightweight, backlit keyboard is nice.

Cons: Within a month or so of getting it snow appeared on the monitor. Little speckles on solid colors.

This is also a refurb, but the way they put it together was so haphazard I won't buy another ASUS laptop again. They tossed a sheet of paper in it saying "yeah, don't use the backup utility we didn't disable because there is no OEM partition." But the option doesn't take it out of the start group, lol. Lazy.

Due to ~mysterious circumstances~ beyond my control, I can't send it back for repair. But really disappointed in the service. I've risked refurbs before and had much better luck with HP.

Also had some serious weirdness when I booted it up the first time. With the battery in it wouldn't start (?!) but I took it out and put the battery in after, it did. Uh.

3 out of 5 eggsPretty good

Pros: Pretty decent CPU, good amount of RAM
NICE backlit keyboard

Cons: Optical drive not mounted securely...sounds like a buzz saw when installing software. Fortunately, I tend not to use the optical drive much. But it would be unusable for DVD watching or audio CD listening.

Other Thoughts: Overall, pretty good value for the $$$ (with the exception of the optical drive issue)

3 out of 5 eggsOk

Pros: Great design
Great Build
Cheap!!!
Awesome Keyboard
Awesome Screen

Cons: On initial start up received an error message after trying to start windows setup. Went through the simple but unnecessary procedure for manually resetting it.
*WORST PART* When I finnally reached the desktop, windows informed that my product version was "unregistered" or "fraudulent". I now have an unregistered computer.

Other Thoughts: GREAT PRICE GREAT LOOK GREAT SPECS INTERNALS AWESOME INITIAL STARTUP SUCKS

5 out of 5 eggsSolid as a Rock

Pros: Excellent price on a recertified system, build quality is outstanding (as expected from ASUS). Love the rubberized skin on the top surface and the textured surface on the deck and back lit keyboard shows no fingerprints and little dust. Boot time is quick, especially if you enable the ASUS quick boot feature in the BIOS. 64 bit OS is fast, programs are responsive. Overall I couldn't be happier with this computer, it's a great value and a solid piece of hardware.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: none, I've read elsewhere of people complaining of excessive bloatware included with their systems. I found that absolutely not to be the case, in fact this system had the least ammount of useless bloatware I've ever seen on a new computer. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that it's "recertified" but it was an amazingly clean system. No crapware at all XD

4 out of 5 eggsGood budget machine with backlit keyboard

Pros: Backlit keyboard
Rubber covered lid
LED backlit LCD
Decent specs for the price

Cons: No digital video output, only VGA
2GB of the RAM is soldered to the board
Webcam has a low framerate on all resolutions regardless of brightness

Other Thoughts: First one came with LCD problems and was RMA'd. The second one is running fine after a couple of weeks. This is a good budget machine with some obvious tradeoffs.
