2 out of 5 eggsDied < 2 years

Pros: Nice computer for the money when it worked.

Cons: Mobo died in less than 2 years.

Other Thoughts: I've had good experiences with ASUS. They make a good product. This particular one was a refurb and died in less than 2 years. I would normally expect a little more shelf life from a mobo that hasn't been abused.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Buy

Pros: Very good Laptop that performs well in business and school, especially if you add the max 8gb DDR3 RAM you can get here on Newegg.com site. ASUS makes good
solid laptops.

Cons: DVD door will open, if you catch it with your hand. Can be annoying, but not a deal stopper.

Other Thoughts: Does everything any good Windows 7 Laptop can do and very capable computer for everyday work at home
or work. Battery life reasonable at 4.5 hours.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Machine! (after tweaks)

Pros: >A fast durable computer.

>I'm an artist that uses all the adobe programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash etc...) it can run them all pretty fast at the same time, while browsing the web at the same time, and sometimes even downloads.

> It's not too heavy either, easily portable, with a nice finish.

> love the keyboard, not too resistive or "mushy"

Cons: > 1st off this Drive is partitioned, which SUCKED when I first got it started.

**so here's what anyone wanting to buy this model should do:
copy the Windows 7 OS to some dvds by using the "AI Recovery Burner" program.
then factory reset the computer, when it starts up choose to combine the drive into one.

> the other thing is that you have to push >fn< for things like the volume and brightness.

Other Thoughts: amazing laptop for the price, considering it was originally about $600.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop for the price

Pros: Good hardware for my needs, ok battery life, LOW PRICE!

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Laptop worked perfectly out of the box, nothing missing. I can't comment on the bloatware since I installed a clean copy of Windows the second I cracked it open. This thing is cheaper than most netbooks and several times more powerful. If you need something for quick web browsing/flash games then this is perfect. The CPU is just an i3 without hyperthreading. Very well-rounded laptop for the average user.

5 out of 5 eggsI'd recommend it

Pros: I just got this to use the internet, download, and stream. Basic home stuff... As to what I like:

Looks really slick

Came with 2 HDMI ports (the spec only says 1)

Attached Web Cam (has a sweet cam log on program so it see's your face then automatically logs you on, but it's usually faster for me to type my password than to wait for the face log on)

Has the number keys to the right of the keyboard
Didn't come with a lot of junk programs.

Cons: Drive is partinioned (75 GB is for the OS where around 40GB is used for windows and the other 215 GB is for Data)

Kinda slow for windows to start up.

Battery life only lasts for 2.5-3 hours.

Speakers isn't that great, doesn't really get that load.

Other Thoughts: Pretty nice laptop for the price. I only use it for internet, download, and streaming. I don't use it for gaming or other things so it's great for what I need it for.

I have used one of the HDMI ports, but the sound doesn't work for it. I need to test out the other port.

I haven't used the CD/DVD drive yet, but hopefully it work.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop

Pros: Very sleek and sexy looking laptop. Touch pad is lowered but still looks the same as the rest of the casing which is cool. Keyboard does seem kinda flimsy if you press really hard, but not a big deal. Camera is good, not very much bloatware, didn't have to do a clean Win7 install, smart logon is an interesting feature but don't always use it. 64-bit runs extremely well, all my programs installed at alarming rates, and scans run very quickly. This laptop is powerful enough to video games with good settings, just not the highest of settings, naturally. Doesn't seem to actually weigh as much as it looks. Card reader keeps SD cards flush with the laptop so it doesn't stick out and can get broken off.
Bottom line, fast, powerful, cheap, a great deal. Good job ASUS.

Cons: Big problem, my CD drive doesn't work, I've tried rebooting, re-installing hardware, and testing CDs and DVDs. Will have to contact ASUS on getting that corrected.
Also the main drive is partitioned into two partitions, one for Data and one for the OS, this is extremely unnecessary and an annoyance, but luckily Windows library features make the annoyance more minuscule.

Other Thoughts: I haven't tried the HDMI output yet, but I'm sure it works. Also haven't checked out the BIOS yet, so can't say if they didn't anything good for this baby in that regard.
Planning to upgrade to 8gb of RAM, which will only make this more of a beast.
Perfectly good laptop for the light gamer and typical use person.
Good price, good specs, good buy.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop

Pros: It is a great computer, its fast, responcive, looks great, and it is just over all a great laptop for the money! the computer is plenty fast enough for light gaming, but the integrated video card eats at the fps pretty bad.

Cons: the mouse pad can occasionaly be a tad annoyings, not being very responcive, but its works fine overall.
the speaker placement could be better, they get muffled when in your lap.
integrated video card :/ so it isnt great fro gaming.

Other Thoughts: its is great overall, especially for what you get for the money, i got mine refurb from somewhere else but looked here first, so i figured i would add a extra review, (i bought it from the other site because newegg didnt lower the price 10 bucks when i actually bought it and the reviews on this site werent as good as the ones on the other) but it sa great everyday computer at a great price, i highly recomend it!

2 out of 5 eggsWay too slow

Pros: Newegg really backup their products, and try to make customer a good purchase experience.

Cons: system is way too slow, not even finish set up process because it took too long time to me.

It depend on how much you pay. For a little bit more money, I can find much better spec.

5 out of 5 eggsGood laptop

Pros: Sleek

Decent start up speed

Consistent mousepad

Looks brand new (No scratches/ dings)

Speakers are underneath the wristpad, as opposed to some other laptops which have them underneath the laptop completely.

Cons: Keys at first seem cheap and unpleasant, but they actually aren't too bad after using them.

The volume on this is alright, the maximum should've been made a couple notches higher.

Other Thoughts: The max resolution is at 1366 x768 which seems slightly cramped. Most likely a person buying this laptop would be using it for basic needs like word processing, music, chatting, facebook, streaming, etc. With this processor, and 3 GB of ram, this laptop moderately exceeds the required performance for such activities. I'm glad we're pretty much past those days of laggy computers, for the price this computer is well worth it.
