3 out of 5 eggsWatch your power brick.

Pros: cheap, works. netflix/hulu/ youtube runs fine on it, which was more than I expected.

Cons: Power brick died at around 2 years. needed a new one.

Other Thoughts: this would be a 4 star review without the power brick issue. I was not blown away, but pleasently surprised how well it could handle video.

2 out of 5 eggs2011 Christmas gift

Pros: Nice and small, very light

Cons: It's 12/26/2011 - I received this as a Christmas present, yesterday. While checking my gmail account, I got the blue screen of death and restarted. Now, less than one full day out of the box, it doesn't register an operating system. I know it's a netbook, and they're supposed to be cheap, but I didn't know it was disposable. Asus really let me down on this one.

4 out of 5 eggsentry level

Pros: black friday purchase was looking at the 199.00 tablets but decided on this netbook at 189.00. Honestly think that this is way better for what I am planning to use it for. Surfering web, listening to music etc, etc, just a basic inexpensive unit. I signed up for ASUS@Vibe and been loading up the music. They sell books also. Generally quite pleased.

Cons: Very slow but as per others I have ordered 2 GB for the memory. Seems that the microsoft updates take forever to download. Would caution to get the users manual printed a head of time. Would have made initial start up a little faster.

Other Thoughts: Been taking it to the coffee shop to read local paper and browse the web. Thats a winner.

3 out of 5 eggsFor beginners only!

Pros: - Price (189.99) at the time
- Mobility
- Suited for casual users

Cons: 1) Too small
The keyboard size is fine, but the screen is not. 10 inches for a computer screen is just overdoing (or underdoing) it.

2) Too slow
Opening several tasks, and several tabs in a browser might be too much for it. The 1GB of RAM does not help, haha.

3) Too small in HDD size
The space will be filled up quickly if you're the type of person who has more than just a few applications on your computer. You also need to take in account how pictures/music/videos add up.

4) No disc drive
Though this might not be much of an issue if you can get whatever you are trying to use with a disc digitially, some people may heavily use discs.

5) Extra
Not so daunting of cons, but a few little tidbits you may not know:
- Cannot change background. At first, this may not seem like such a big deal, but it gets annoying.
- Cannot format...as far as I know. I know about Clean Install, but it would be easier just to format (besides, no disc drive to do a Clean).

Other Thoughts: Again, don't get me wrong. This computer is great for beginners, but definitely not suited for someone who finds themselves doing 10 different things at once.

Conclusion:
2 eggs for the cons heavily outweighing the Pros for my personal situation.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Black Friday Deal!

Pros: *Cheap (Bought on Black Friday for $189)
*Sleek design
*Works great for what it is, a netbook.
*Can't beat the price

Cons: *1GB ram too little
*keyboard flex
*crooked screw
*3 hour battery life

Other Thoughts: As others have said, this computer needs more ram. I purchased Crucial 2GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1066 to upgrade the 1GB it came with. The netbook is now much faster than it previous was. A must if you buy this. There is slight flexing on the left side of the keyboard, but it does not appear to be a serious issue. Also, the screw to remove the cover to install the ram was crooked and took some time to get out. People must remember this is a (cheapish) netbook and to not expect a high performance machine. It instantly picked up the wifi connection I have, and it plays youtube videos in 720p without a hitch. 1080 however it will play like a slide show. Sound quality is also pretty good.

I am impressed by its capabilities and would recommend this netbook!

1 out of 5 eggsyou will not enjoy. stay away from asus!!

Pros: the camera is very smooth when there is a lot of light. it doesnt always appear smooth for the other person (connection speeds and whatnot). flash videos are smooth for the most part.

Cons: *near the left alt key there is quite a bit of keyboard flex. * poor hardware makes it impossible to sync my iphone to transfer anything or to upgrade software on the phone. *will randomly glitch images (emptying the cache/cookies helps but very irritating). *randomly freezes for a time on youtube so you get to hear glitchy audio while you wait for the hiccup to end. *freezes so it forces you to wait 6 hours or remove the battery. *anything 720p and higher and it turns into a slideshow (i can understand this, but its kinda dissappointing. *the initial starter install is so bloated, i actually could not open the browser. it would always freeze. every single time. if you reinstall, its fine. but other netbooks worked perfectly fine with the initial starter install so...wTHEf asus.

Other Thoughts: other reviews i saw after buying it had the screws in crooked. asus should be ashamed of themselves for ever letting this leave the factory. i will never buy anything Asus again.

4 out of 5 eggsNice little netbook

Pros: Nice little netbook for someone getting into computing like my aunt. It definitely is slow and cannot handle a lot but it is cheap. Right now it is about 1/7th of the price of my laptop that I am typing on. It is cheap enough to carry around and not worry too much about losing it

Cons: Pretty slow
Netbooks are very small so the keyboard is too
Wifi card is lacking somewhat

The only problem she ever had was that she constantly put it into hibernation mode and eventually filled up the hard drive and ram so much that it locked up and I had to remove the battery to turn it off. Now she knows not to do that and hasn't had a problem since

Other Thoughts: Got it on black friday last year for my aunt when it was a lot cheaper

5 out of 5 eggsGreat value and performance

Pros: We have 2 of these. One I had gotten for my girlfriend when they first came out and one I just got through here on an open box deal. Both work phenomenally for what's under the hood.
Some may call Asus software, bloatware, but it's pretty functional and fun.
The display is good and sound quality on the speakers could be a tad better but it's a netbook not a multimedia hotrod.
I had to do a system wipe on my girlfriend's computer and it was a snap because it's already on a partition on the hard drive.

Cons: Non for the netbook.
Wished I had ordered the first one through here though.

Other Thoughts: These are a great deal at normal price and an even better one for open-box. Thanks Newegg for making our youngest one a happy camper with his new netbook!

1 out of 5 eggsBad Quality Control From Newegg

Pros: Great piece of hardware if it worked the right way when i received it.

Cons: This review is for newegg not the netbook seeing that I really didn't have much time with it.

Other Thoughts: Neweggs quality control is really getting bad, and the service teams are even worse. Why does it take Three days and three service inquiries to get an RMA when when finally on the an fourth day you send one, two people finally get to you within an hour. And who is training these people on how to pack their boxes you need at least 2 inches (preferably 3") on all sides and yet I've received so many packages where the item is on the bottom of the box.
