2 out of 5 eggsUndecided

Pros: Computer is stable. It's really nice to be able to use it as a tablet and a pc. The concept is great in thought and in theory.

Cons: Wireless card had issues from day one. After about 30 days I lost touch response to bottom 1/2" of screen. Given how common this issue is I would think Asus would be bending over backwards but what do they do, make me pay to ship it to them and then advise that I may be charged to repair if the items cannot be determined to be shipped defective. So now asus has had my computer for over a month and judging from the reviews it looks like it could be several more.

Other Thoughts: I love asus products but they failed on this one which may be the reason it is deactivated now on the egg.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear that the turn around time is taking longer then expected. Can you please provide me with your serial number so I can check the status of your unit and see how long for the parts to arrive.

You can email me at cl-jeffrey@asus.com

ASUS strives to meet and exceeds our customer expectations within our warranty policy.

Jeffrey

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Small, inexpensive tablet with a keyboard that runs Windows.

Cons: None that I know of.

Other Thoughts: I don't have one of these, but looked at them as an inexpensive e-reader with the benefit of a keyboard and OS that doesn't require too much retraining for the 20 people that will use them to follow along in a board meeting.

I note that the device has an overall rating of 3 eggs. I also note that several of the 1 egg ratings appear to come from the same disgruntled customer. That skews the actual rating. I gave it 5 eggs to add some positive balance to offset the improperly weighted tally.

BTW, I like the rating system and depend on it a lot to judge the value of products that I'm shopping for. If you ask the high school kid at the local big box store, he'll tell you that what you're holding is the best thing in the world. Either he doesn't know or the sales manager said push that model. I've used the Newegg ratings for years to guide my purchases and I've been very pleased.

5 out of 5 eggsGood machine

Pros: The machine worked great. Drivers from the website worked great (I always do fresh installs on my machines), no crashes, did just what I wanted it to do.

Cons: It's smaller than I thought it would be.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent for its purpose

Pros: Resistive multitouch display allows for pressure sensitivity. Runs programs and transcription well.
small and portable, easy to hold and write on.
Touchscreen works perfectly and has no dead spots

Cons: Uses an atom processor which inherently makes high resolution flash video unavailable.
I hear that dropping it causes one of the edges to lose about ½" of input

Other Thoughts: I would love to see some more models from ASUS. if they would bring out something in between this and their EEESlate i would be happy... or i could just save for a while longer for the eeeSlate.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it!

Pros: Nice form factor. The keyboard is big enough to be usable. Touch screen tablet + real PC.
Good battery life.

Cons: No bluetooth!

Other Thoughts: It's hard to find anything to complain about this except for the lack of bluetooth. You can buy aftermarket but that's 30 bucks. I just use a dirt cheap USB adapter, but it's lame that it's not included in the U.S. version but is included in the European version.

2 out of 5 eggsScreen Defective

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Not an active digitizer (inaccurate). My screen broke in less than a year and had to be replaced. The replacement process took several months.

1 out of 5 eggsBad touch screen - stay away

Pros: small, but that's it

Cons: - same 1/2" issue where bottom 1/2" of the screen wouldn't respond. Why is Asus selling this product? How does this meet their quality bar? This occurs on the second I used this. Haven't been able to fix it (eg, reinstalling OS). Seems like a design fault since others have experienced the same.
- there is thin flim on the screen which I think is use for detect touch, but it make the screen look bad, really bad, like you haven't clean the screen for years
- occassionally freeze when you have too many applications opened
- bad sound quality

Other Thoughts: Just purely amazed that touch screen failed on the second day.

Stay away from this laptop by all means, it doesn't meet the standard nowadays Get fujitsu tablet or something, cost a bit extra but they have real engineering factory that guarantee quality

1 out of 5 eggsPlauged with screen issues

Pros: Small convertible netbook

Cons: Order 5 of these, in less than a month 2 of them have failed with the same 1/2" touch screen issue that the previous reviewer mentioned. The bottom of the screen where the Windows task bar is does not respond to touch. Newegg was great to swap the first one, but now the second one failed and it's been 31 days since purchase. Uhhg.

Other Thoughts: I cannot recommend this model based on the failure rate of the touch screen.
