4 out of 5 eggsNot bad

Pros: Small, lightweight, cheap, battery life
Apple like keyboard feels very comfortable.

Cons: HDD removal and adding more ram requires to open the entire bottom instead of just a single latch to access them like all the other netbooks I've seen. The bottom is hard to open since most of it is clip-in's instead of just all screws.

Other Thoughts: Harddrive completely died after about one and half year of use...I didn't even feel the vibration from the disk spinning in the hdd, replaced hdd and it was working good again...I did drop it once or twice though not sure if it had anything to do with that since there was almost 1 month gap since I last dropped it and the hdd going cold turkey.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty good

Pros: Has HDMI output and longer battery life than other models

Cons: Just a minor thing... display does not fold back all the way to 180 degrees.

Other Thoughts: It is loaded with Asus sky drive, (in addition to standard features and drives.) I would write this as a negative, but if there someone who is a big fan of cloud computing, this should be a plus.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This little netbook really surprises me. It's a great tool for getting stuff done online and is built well. Good value for the money.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Give this thing a break. It does everything it's supposed to and the price can't be beat.

4 out of 5 eggsNice, almost super nice

Pros: -Portable (size-wise)
-Good battery life
-Great for a traveler

Cons: -Only 1GB RAM
-Keyboard may be small for some

Other Thoughts: Do yourself a favor and upgrade this netbook to 2gb of RAM for optimal web browsing and applications switching. I ordered the CM3X2GSD1066 to replace the 1gb RAM.

You can search youtube for "1025c ram upgrade" to see how to open up the laptop to install the ram. It takes some work, but it's worth it.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Netbook ever made

Pros: ASUS quality.

Best in class battery life.

Best in class CPU

Easy to see in the dark.

Cons: I wish you could upgrade it to 2GB with an SSD without having to completely take it apart.

Other Thoughts: Everyone is complaining about 1GB ram, and I agree 2GB would be nice, but they all have 1GB.

It fires up stock using 600 or so MB, so you got some headroom and you can get it down under 500.

It's not fast, it's functional.

The hard drive actually seems to be the slow link in the chain to me.

But hey it's better than the rest and for less than 100 bucks you can double the RAM and put an SSD in it.

So, please.... cut this thing some slack.

On another note, I've been running a 7 inch android tablet for a while now and although I long for a keyboard and full on windows once in a while, it's smaller and faster for just checking email and google voice between real computers.

So I've got a tough decision to make because 8 solid hours of windows with a keyboard on the go is pretty compelling.

4 out of 5 eggsGood, if you don't mind getting your hands dirty -

Pros: Quick enough for basic use. FANTASTIC battery life. With upgraded RAM and an SSD it both boots quickly and performs far better in basic use.

Cons: Upgrading the RAM and HDD (to an SSD) requires a somewhat painful disassembly since ASUS decided nobody wants to be able to service their own laptops. It's not hard to take apart but it will keep many from doing the much-needed upgrade to 2 GB of RAM and an SSD for storage.

Other Thoughts: If you just need an internet machine and don't want to waste your time with a tablet...this is a good choice. It's just too bad Intel has nixed DX10.1 and 64 bit support for Cedar Trail. One can hope they may update their drivers for those features in the future though...

5 out of 5 eggsgood product

Pros: cheap, small, light, does a lot for its size.

Cons: I just realized that this is windows 7 starter version. Not a deal breaker at all here but, i just wasted 3 hours setting everything up on an operating system that blows. You cant even change your desktop wallpaper!! secondly, asus has a ton of garbage installed already. Also i installed 4-5 small aplications (2 gigs tops total) and checked to see how much hard drive space i had, with the os and the aplications i installed it was using 78 GB!!! you have to be kidding me!! I am going to ditch this horrible OS and go with linux.

Other Thoughts: Other than that i love this thing but, it would be nice to offer a linux option instead of windows.

4 out of 5 eggsLimited, but expandable with effort

Pros: +Very small...I hadn't used a netbook before so others may think otherwise, but it's tiny!

+Nice price...For $270 this is a great netbook

+Battery Life...On the stock charge, I managed 7 hours of battery life without changing battery settings. Not the advertised 12+ but I'm sure it might touch 10 somewhere in its life.

+Keyboard...Cookie cutter and ergonomic. The "flare" design doesn't make much difference, but the keys are very nice and the keyboard doesn't bow. The function and arrow keys to the lower right are a little small, but manageable. The rest is very reasonably sized and tactile.

+Finish...I was skeptical of having a white netbook. I imagined it'd very easily show wear quickly. I was wrong! Even after taking this thing apart, the shell is tough! For $30 less than the black version, this is a great deal!

Paired with an SSD, this would surely be a cheap and snappy ultraportable. 1GB of RAM, however, is a bit of a drawback.

Cons: Okay, the complaint about a lack of upgradeable RAM and/or a lack of a RAM slot is very valid, but I can confirm there is indeed a single RAM slot on this netbook. See other thoughts for tutorial. The X101CH has soldered RAM, this does not.

-RAM upgrade possible, but very difficult

-Difficult disassembly...see other thoughts

-Battery Life...I really was hoping for the advertised 12 hours, but I guess 8 to 10 is reasonable. I haven't owned it long enough to say it will really hit 12 under the best conditions.

Other Thoughts: -First, take out the battery, underneath are 4 screws, remove them. In the center of the netbook (underneath) there is a small rubber stopper. Remove it and take out the screw.

-With a card, you need to pry off the keybaord from the top. Start at the top of the small silver bezels on the side of the netbook. If you start pushing the silver bezel off, you are pushing the wrong way. Try to slide the card around the side of the laptop while twisting and prying the keyboard loose. The most difficult areas will be the corners. There are clips in the battery compartment as well as around the whole keyboard perimeter. Be careful not to break them.

-Once open, disconnect the ribbon cables connecting the keyboard/touchpad. Remove the ribbon above the hard drive and the hard drive carefully. You will have to disconnect the wifi card and the CMOS battery. Remove 8 motherboard screws and flip over the board (Mind the display ribbon at the top of the board.

Underneath is a single RAM slot!

3 out of 5 eggsAlmost Perfect

Pros: Super Thin
0 DB no FAN!!
Stays Cool!
HDMI!

Cons: this would have been fantastic with 2gb of ram, the 1gb really kills it and slows it down.

Other Thoughts: This will fly on windows xp
