ASUS Eee PC 1025C-MU17-PK Matte Pink Intel Atom N2600(1.60GHz) 10.1" WSVGA 1GB DDR3 Memory 320GB HDD Netbook

Pros: With the exception that the operating system is in French, the computer works very nice and has great connectivity range. IE works very nice with all of the apps my daughter likes to use and the video display is a decent(not great) quality. The video recording quality is ok and it is easy to use the ecam--easy enough for a six year old. Overall, I'd say that this was well worth the money spend.

Cons: Default language is set to French(France) and the instructions to change the display language are not working even after the English language patch installed.

Other Thoughts: My daughters new netbook came preintsalled with French as the default language for the operating system. No big deal for me, because I can read french just fine, however, she is 6 and cannot. I have followed all of the instructions for making the display language English. I have successfully made all applications, keyboard and other items display in English. Unfortunately, the directions are not working to change the admin/control panel and other informative displays to show in English.-- I still really like the computer and it works very well --worth the price for a six year old's first lap top.

Glad to hear that you are enjoying your purchase. The only way to set the language back to English default is to do the factorey recovery.

Make sure before you do this to save all your important things as this will wipe out your computer back to stock.

Restart your computer and press F9.

After you have reinstalled the O/S it will tell you to setup windows and that is where you change the language to english.

Pros: Pink
Good to learn on for kids.

Cons: Slow

No easy way to set the background. This is from santa to a 8 year old so adding a hello kitty background that said Merry Christmas (her name) was not easy as right click add as background.

Other Thoughts: Even though this is a gift for an 8 year old and many question my parenting all I have to say is we set rules for the computer and she can only use is while I am next to her. its 2012 guys... they give them computers in school and we use laptops mine is Model #: XPS13-40002sLV so its not really made for a child. Much too expensive.

Pros: When they work properly, good price and very long lasting battery.

Cons: Cheap material quality. The Eee PC 1001 model I purchased few years ago still rocks! In fact, keyboard of this 1025C is faulty as it "eats" randomly many letters and makes the writer very frustrated.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this Eee PC 1025C while going abroad with my wife for 6 months assignment in the middle east. I gave her once we arrived (for hr birthday) and now we have a brand new netbook that is totally useless, other than a gift has been spoiled (my wife obviously hates it as it cannot be used to write/to log-in....zero).
I WOULD LIKE TO ASK TO ASUS, WHAT I AM SUPPOSED TO DO NOW THAT I AM 10,000 MILES AWAY FROM HOME WITH THIS FAULTY DEVICE THAT NEEDS TO BE -REPLACED- ???
