1 out of 5 eggsNot good anymore

Pros: versatile having the keyboard.

Cons: ever since the last two updates this things freezes up and crashes all the time. I hardly use my tablet now. I came back on here just to warn folks not to waste their money. this product use to be good, but ASUS doesn't care about it anymore add it is time for them to sell their next new product. I'm not an ASUS fan anymore

Other Thoughts: don't waste your money, this product is outdated. Asus products

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings Rob,

I am sorry that your tablet is constantly freezing and crashing since the latest update. Even after the update, your ASUS Transformer should still be fairy fast, and it seems like your software or hardware might be malfunctioning. If I may, I would like to help.

Does the tablet lock up and crash when using certain apps? Have you tried any troubleshooting steps to fix the device’s speed yet? If so, what troubleshooting steps have you tried? Please respond back to my email at cl-mark@asus.com, and I would be more than happy to assist you further.

Best regards,
Mark

2 out of 5 eggsOut of warranty service.

Pros: Price performance great pad for the price. I love it but I dropped it that is where I stopped loving Asus

Cons: I dropped the pad and broke the touch screen. I called Asus support to find out about repairs. I spoke with the tech and we both understood that is was an out of incident and they could take care of the repair. I got my RMA number and went to the local Box and Crate and had it pack up and shipped off. It arrived on a Friday, By the end of the next week I received an email from Asus repair. It listed $102 and $65 for the screen and repair. It said I had to pay within 2 days or it would be sent back. And wanted me to fill out an attached form with all my info including credit card adding tax and shipping. It seemed more like a phishing email than something from a large company like Asus. I called Asus support and asked if this was a real mail and they confirmed it was. So I calculated my tax and added the shipping parts and labor on the form scanned it and emailed it back. I added local sales tax and had to re-do the for scan it and re-email it. Before I did I asked them to calculate the tax for me so it would be right. Tuesday it showed on the RMA site that it was completed awaiting shipping and it still shows the same Friday.

Other Thoughts: This experience had been quite disheartening. I have used Asus products for years and have used the phone quite successfully. I have always been happy with the driver/software updates. If you have an Asus pad don't send it in if it is out of warranty. I would choose a different product after the service I have recieved.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for your review on your TF300T. ASUS definitely appreciates your comments and feedback. I am very sorry to read that your tablet was dropped and the touch screen stopped working because of it.

You mentioned that you have sent in the device and have an RMA, have you heard anything back yet? Did you receive it back and it is working now? I would be happy to check the status of the RMA for you. Please send me an email including your RMA number and the tablet's serial in the email (or if you have any questions), and I would be glad to look into the case further for you. My email is cl-mark@asus.com.

Best regards,
Mark

1 out of 5 eggsAweful - no wifi

Pros: Nice Screen and software

Cons: Aweful wifi connectivity. Sent back to ASUS and they could not fix problem with my utilizing several WIFI networks. Buy some other brand.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I apologize for the Wifi issues that you are having with your tablet. Did you know what was done to remedy the issue when you sent it back to Asus for repair? I have a few tests that you can do to see if the Tf300 would work better on your network. Please feel free to e-mail me at cl-tien@asus.com and I’ll be more than happy to help you troubleshoot the device.

2 out of 5 eggsWeek Glass

Pros: Snappy, handles everything I throw at it. Plays my games, high def movies, responsive screen. Great battery life. Battery runs for 6 hours of screen on time. Movies barely reduce this. Skype sucks a lot of battery power. Reduces to about 2 hours of time. Great overall tablet and well worth the price until....

Cons: Screen scratched far easier than I find acceptable. I am pretty careful with my electronics. I have owned 20+ Android phones over the years including phones from Motorola, Apple, Samsung, and HTC. I have never had a scratched screen. I have owned tablets from Apple, Samsung and some small no name brands as well. Never a scratch. This tablet scratched within a month of owning. I did some research and this tablet does not have guerrilla glass. Asus, how do you make a table with such garbage glass for your screen???

Other Thoughts: I would highly recommend upgrading to the TF700t. From what I read online, it has the better scratch resistant glass. If you do go for this tablet, immediately invest in a high quality screen protector. Once the glass is scratched, it is hard to fix. The screen on this tablet is softer than I find acceptable in my tablets. Shame to have a brand new $300 piece of electronics with a constant line in the screen....The low quality in the glass pretty much makes this a throwaway tablet....

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Unfortunately, the TF300 does not have Gorilla Glass. Gorilla Glass, however, is not uncatchable. Glass can be scratched if it is put against something harder than itself. Because of this, I always recommend having a screen protector, no matter what kind of device you have. Sand and some harder metals are all things that can scratch the display. I would call our customer support to see if you can get the tablet serviced. We don’t cover physical damage or broken glass, but we might be able to help you with a scratch on the display. It will vary from case to case, though, but it’s worth a shot.

3 out of 5 eggsOh, brother....

Pros: It's light, graphics are fantastic and the price can't be beat.... I got the docking station with it so it goes from tablet to "kinda" laptop in seconds.

Cons: That said.... The power plug is so flimsy and doesn't make a good connection, so in order to charge it, I need to keep messing around with the connection until it "takes" - then prop the connector up, so that it doesn't move..... it's ridiculous! I've had the thing less than 3 weeks and have only charged it three times. Not happy about this AT ALL!

Other Thoughts: This is my third attempt at a tablet, and being an Android person, I really wanted an Android tablet. I've spent more time mailing them back and forth with Newegg that I don't even want to be bothered with this one and will probably continue playing this little game every time I need to charge it.

So, color me disappointed.........

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Do you know if the problem is with the actual proprietary plug, or is it with the port on the tablet? If it is the plug, we could send you another one since the charger is also covered under warranty. It should not be such a hassle to charge the thing, and I do apologize. Please feel free to e-mail me at cl-tien@asus.com if you would like some more assistance.

Pros: Great Screen, nice features and software - - but no wifi connectivity

Cons: no wifi connectivity

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I apologize for the issues that you are having with your Wifi. Did it happen all of a sudden? Is the device new and it never worked at all? Please e-mail me at cl-tien@asus.com and perhaps I could try to help you. I do need to know a little bit more about your device, though.

2 out of 5 eggsInitially great unit, firmware update causes problems, extremely lackluster service

Pros: Initially, I loved my tablet. It was perfect for a metropolitan commuter; good size, nice battery life. The ability to switch between the more standard computer input and touchscreen controls was wonderful.

Cons: Perhaps two months after purchase I got a pop-up notification that there was a firmware update. I installed it and soon after the keyboard on the dock ceased to work. It still detected the keyboard and input from the touchpad and mouse button worked, but none of the keyboard input was working. After about a dozen factory resets I sent it in for servicing. My unit was returned to me in the same condition I sent it in, with a note that they could not find any problems. Needless to say, I was livid, especially after paying the costs of shipping and packaging myself. Their customer service are semi-helpful, they're polite and give all manner of scripted "sorry for any inconvenience" comments, but at no point does it feel like you're getting assurances that your issues will actually be addressed. They did pay for the shipping costs on the second RMA and I was able to use the box and materials they sent it back to me in. The unit was received at their facility before noon on March 26th. Nearly a week later they hadn't even gotten around to logging that they'd received my unit. Their customer service rep told me it was likely due to the Easter holidays, which seems like the most ridiculous excuse possible to explain why my tablet (which was supposed to be given extra attention by their service department in light of their first failure to address my problems) wasn't even logged as received without my checking in. Some people seem to love their ASUS products, and I loved mine until it stopped working and it became an epic tale of tragedy getting it fixed.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I would update to the latest Android version (4.2) to see if it will help with the rebooting. It could be caused by a software conflict so I would also try a few cold-boots and maybe a factory reset on the device. For Google Play, I would filter out the search results to display tablet apps only. Like the Apple App Store, all the apps are lumped together so the person downloading should filter them out accordingly. If you are still having issues with the rebooting, please e-mail me at cl-tien@asus.com. I’ll be happy to help you out.

5 out of 5 eggsLOVE IT.

Pros: Been using this for the last 7 months. IT IS A BEAST. This is one purchase I have not regretted! Asus has been very good at releasing Android and system updates for this baby. I am always up to date, currently running 4.2 (no doubt I will get key lime when it is released)

The processor (and RAM) in this things are fantastic. I really like being able to choose the power mode ie power saver, balanced, or performance. I mostly keep it on balanced to conserve power and it has no problem with whatever I throw on it.

Build quality on this is fantastic, doesn't feel flimsy at all. I put a Zagg over the screen even though it is Gorilla glass, just to keep it nice :)

Battery life on this tablet is phenomenal!! Even without the keyboard dock it will last a few days with intermittent use and always connected to wifi. It will last a full day with a little left over after heavy heavy use like watching movies or playing games. Use the keyboard dock with this and multiply the battery by ten!! ok not really ten but it makes the battery life so much better.

Cons: Occasional lag on the tablet after leaving it on for a week or two. I find that after quick reboot to empty out the RAM and caches it is operating normally. Not really a con.

Only issue I have is with the proprietary power/USB connector. I hate the fact that I cannot use any of my 100 micro USB connectors to charge/plug into USB. And replacement or spare cables from Asus are NOT cheap!

I'll still give it five stars tho because it is that AWESOME!

Other Thoughts: If you are buying this tablet you should get the keyboard dock at the same time. It has the built in secondary battery which just makes it all that much sweeter! I bought two of these and two of the docks. My girlfriend and I were looking for netbooks and decided to just go ahead and get tablets with the docks. It has worked out perfectly! We use these for play and for work. Polaris office does well for taking notes in college.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Hardware Provided by ASUS

Pros: The Hardware and the original android OS (Operating System) I got on mine back in November everything was working really well and I was pleased until..... android 4.2.1 :( See below.

Cons: Non until I did the latest update for android and then suddenly my music would skip all the time while using the Bluetooth. The Bluetooth works fine when the screen is on but when I press the standby button so my screen isn't on wasting battery while I'm listening to music the music skips every two seconds completely unacceptable. I thought it might be a power saving issue so I tried to fix it by changing the the system performance mode up it didn't help just killed my battery faster. Wired headphones work fine no matter what but I was hoping to eliminate the wires, I've considered trying to install a different OS the device to see if another OS will work. (I bet it would) I've also considered worse going with an apple product hahaha. I dont like apple so no... thats just going to far. so for now I just leave the screen on all the time it kills my battery in just over 3 hours without the dock on and with the screen brightness turned all the way down with the dock I get almost 6 hours. Before the android update I've gone days on a single charge listening to 15+ hours of music it was nice when I could turn my screen of while listening to music.

Other Thoughts: Thought I'd try an android tablet as my android phone has never failed me. Time to get an ASUS tablet with windows 8. Yay windows 8 don't fail me now as google did with android 4.2.1. Still going to give this product 4 of 5 eggs cause ASUS has always been a great Hardware provider and when my warranty is up I'm going to see if I can change the OS on this fine piece of hardware hopefully improve on the terrible OS problem I've found that is unless google fixes the issue but its been months with no change. I bet I have no problems with my new Tiachi but there is a big price difference and I've always heard you get what you pay for. :)
