1 out of 5 eggsThe absolute worst!

Pros: Good graphics

Cons: I have had this laptop for a little over one year now, and I have had to have the hard drive replaced 4 times within that span. This is COMPLETELY unacceptable.

1 out of 5 eggsCompletely died just after 1 year

Pros: It was running great for a year. It was pretty fast for this level of a PC and seemed sturdy enough.

Cons: The first problem was that it arrived with a broken DVD eject button. Instead of replacing the entire laptop for a broken button, we just kept it. It still ejected via the OS.

It completely died at 13.5 months (just after the warranty ran out). It is not getting any power at all. I tried another Asus power adapter and got nothing at all. Tried unplugging the battery, nothing. There are no lights or indication of power to be seen anywhere. I have NEVER had a laptop die this completely before.

Other Thoughts: I have always been happy with Asus products in the past. I hope this was a fluke and not a trend for Asus.

I am sorry to hear that your computer no longer works. However, if you like we can still setup a RMA to have the computer looked at and see what the issue could be. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at cl-fred@asus.com

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for the Money

Pros: Good performance for 300 bucks on a Black Friday deal. Light. Decent battery life.

Cons: Left mouse button (touch pad button) was originally a little tight...but it loosened over time. The speakers are under powered, and I had a lot of feedback problems with the mic when I would close the lid to sleep the machine.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop for price

Pros: I really like Asus, they make high quality products at a very good price. I was lucky and was able to get this pc for only $320 via newegg's spotlight deal! Boot speed is very fast, screen is great, Win 7 is a great OS (coming from XP). There is a previous negative review about the glitchy touch pad, which I thought was glitcyh at first too, but the bottom and right side are for the scroll wheel. After getting used to it, I think the touch pad is great. There is more hard drive space then I know what to do wth, and coming from only 512mb of memory, having 4gb is mind blowing.

Cons: The main typing area is too far to the left, so my hands do not naturally land on the home keys (F,J), and the home key nubs do not stick up high enough, so I often loose my position on the keyboard. Battery life is not spectacular, but still pretty good. There are no ports in the back of the laptop, everything is on the sides, which can be a little annoying since at my desktop I dual screen, use a mouse, and plug in the power... just too many cords on my desk. Whish it had a docking station.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I am very pleased with this new Laptop. More then meets my expectations given the price I paid.

3 out of 5 eggsUnfortunate

Pros: Asus has made me very happy with their DESKTOP internal products like motherboards and graphics cards.

The laptop software seems fine.

Cons: Hardware - cheap, flimsy. Very flexible keyboard...glitchy touchpad, glitchy space bar key...

Really, I'm returning this ONLY because it seems the hardware is weak and glitchy. sad.

However, I should have been more careful. NO ONE has posted reviews of this computer, and I cannot find it on the ASUS website. I am literally on the phone right now with ASUS just out of curiosity, to see why they discontinued it. My hunch is that they stopped making the A53 series because of hardware failure, like mine. I should have known. Also, I bought this model for $320, and I see it also for $400 or so...on Newegg. wierd.
