4 out of 5 eggsworked well

Pros: No technical problems so far

Cons: It comes with 500gb but instead if giving you one 500 they give you 2 250 drives which takes up both hard drive spaces, was planning in upgrading memory but now I'll have a 250gb drive laying around

2 out of 5 eggsSome False Things in the Details

Pros: Everything. This lap top is very nice and I get decent FPS on most games which is nice for a laptop. Boots up Windows relatively fast.

Cons: There is one problem that I do not have with the lap top so much but is with Newegg. Under details you can see that this laptop apparently has 3GB of GDDR5 video memory. Mine does not. It only has 1GB. My friend that has the last gen version of this can get better frames in Borderlands 2 than simply because his laptop has 2GB of video memory.

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings Brady,

Thank you very much for letting us know about your situation with the video memory on your computer. If I may, I would like to help.

How did you go about checking the video memory? What adapter does your computer show in device manager under display adapters?

Please respond back to my email at cl-mark@asus.com, and I would be happy to look into this further.

Best regards,
Mark

5 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop

Pros: Great pc, run's most games at max setting with zero issues. Able to run many applications at once. Come's loaded with quite a bit of bloatware.

Cons: A couple of the screws on laptop on come lose, but nothing couldn't fix with a screwdriver.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Will play pretty much any game on high settings, except for some newer games.
Temps on the gpu haven't gone above 70C, with a mild OC I saw 72C.
Loads up fast, no blue screens, no issues.

Cons: Large, but hey its a 17 inch. Had to get a bigger backpack.

Other Thoughts: Great computer for a desktop replacement.

5 out of 5 eggsDesktop Replacement

Pros: Bought this almost a year ago to game on when traveling. This was purchased knowing shortly after I would be adding an SSD and changing the existing drive to storage only. Replacing the drive was a breeze and the computer works as expected.

Cons: Only complaint I have is the built in sound. Read up on this if you are expecting to use the built in speakers flawlessly. You'll find that just adjusting the sound will cause unexpected results due to the driver and internal setup. I won't get into it much since there are plenty of specifics online. This doesn't bother me much and doesn't cost an egg mainly because I game with a headset and it works fine like that.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Machine

Pros: Amazing laptop so far. I've installed the Adobe CS6 Suite and all programs seem to be running flawlessly. I haven't ran any heavy HD footage on it yet but I don't foresee any issues. It's been running for about 24 hours solid and hasn't even gotten warm yet (a major plus from my previous Asus that would nearly burn me when I touched the bottom of it and shut down from overheating). It's super fast, very responsive, and has a super crisp display.

Cons: None that I have found yet. I do wish they wouldn't preload McAfee and other dumb stuff on new machines, but I get why they do. Easy enough to just go through and uninstall it.

Other Thoughts: I bought this laptop because I didn't want to deal with Windows 8 right now. I do a lot of video editing and graphics building so I needed a tough machine that I could trust. Asus hasn't let me down yet. My previous system was an Asus that I used every day very heavily for video editing and graphics development, as well as DVD authoring and burning and it lasted a solid 3+ years. It still runs but I really needed an upgrade. This new machine won't disappoint you. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a good video editing or graphics editing machine. And it's not a bad price either!

4 out of 5 eggsAsus g75vw

Pros: First impression was, this thing is huge! It doesn't bother me because I am currently using it as a desktop replacement. Plays high end games like Far Cry 3, BF3, and Witcher2 no problem.

Pros
1. No dead pixels.
2. Power
3. Graphics
4. Speed
5. Extra slot for ssd or hd

And Asus customer service is top notch, I wouldn't turn to another company .

Cons: As with any gaming laptop, battery life, it has to be plugged in at all times while gaming.

I do have an issue with my tackpad not being as responsive and somewhat slow. Re-installed drivers, rolled back drivers but still acts up.

Other than those none.

Other Thoughts: My system came with windows 7 which I loved, I recently switched to windows 8 on a previous computer. I decided to install windows 8 on this machine. It performs much better than windows 7 did and it is more responsive. I know many people do not like windows 8, but to each their own.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop for heavy users.

Pros: This thing screams for a laptop. I have spent a lot of time reviewing specs of a lot of laptops before my purchase and I have not been disappointing. I have not tried this for games yet but if it handles them as well as the design software I have run on it then I may have to play more games.

I think besides the 12gb of RAM and the 3gb of Video RAM, the fact that it has Windows 7 is one of the biggest reasons I purchased.

I should also note that I have used this hard for hours playing music while running some intensive programs and this thing runs much cooler then any laptop I have used before now with a lot more horsepower.

ASUS makes great laptops and I have helped other people find laptops for their needs. And I have recommended ASUS to many of them since the they have good pricing and tend to have great specifications for the price.

Ironically I reviewed a few business class machines with less in options and they were hundreds of dollars more.

Cons: I can not say that I have found any at this time other then it is a bit heavy and the battery could have a little longer life but I purchased for the horsepower with the realization it was going to be heavy.

Other Thoughts: I am glad I could still get this with Windows 7. I have run the beta's and used Windows 8 on a few machines and I don't think it is refined enough for high end users.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Machine

Pros: Fells sturdy, nice spacing on the keyboard, very smooth and responsive touchpad. Runs quiet and fast right out of the box. Am enjoying it already. WINDOWS 7 FTW. Glad I could snag one before they stopped producing them with 7 out of the box.

Cons: Very bright screen (though it can be adjusted), fair amount of bloatware.

Other Thoughts: Great machine, runs quiet and fast.

5 out of 5 eggsnice laptop

Pros: Seems beast enough. Runs everything I've tried with no sweat.

Cons: Nothing awful. The default touchpad config reads a double-tap as a left click, but it was too sensitive for my taste so I turned off that option. The laptop forgets the headphones occasionally but clicking mute then unmute in the tray makes it remember. I wish the manual would have been a little more specific as to features of this model.

Other Thoughts: Screen is fine as is but I am spoiled by my cheapo Korean 27" IPS (Crossover) and so wanted to pass along a tip. I needed an active mini-DisplayPort to DVI-D adapter to get the laptop to play nice with that external monitor. A passive HDMI to DVI-D adapter didn't cut it.
