1 out of 5 eggsTouchpad fails, Slower than my other one

Pros: As everyday goes by the less I can put anything here. Very disappointed.

Cons: First of all the touchpad failed. Drivers were reinstalled and still nothing. Its slower than my 8Gb Ram on my other computer. That's a fail because it has 12Gb Ram. Identical processors with the i7. Heats up a lot. Not happy at all with this purchase. I do not recommend this to anyone. ASUS has failed miserably with their product.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Try installing the ATKACPI driver (hotkey-related utilities) before installing the touch-pad driver. This should fix the issues with the touch-pad. Also, you mentioned your system heats up a lot, the system itself shouldn't be hot to the touch. If it is, it may be defective and would need to be look at by our technicians. Depending on when you purchased the computer, your laptop should have a warranty on it.

Should you need further assistance, please let me know. My email is cl-mark@asus.com.

Mark

3 out of 5 eggsTouchpad Fails

Pros: Operates well. I like the option for setting up RAID with the two hard drives. Still should have gone with something else.

Cons: Touchpad failed after one week. Un-installed the drivers and re-installed them. Right click does not work and the pad only allows you to move the mouse. No tap or zoom for the pad itself. Wife uses it for online classes so there is no time to return it. I will never buy Asus again.

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggsEverything Works except the Sound...

Pros: Functions perfectly except sound, and everything promised is under the hood. 500 GB hard drive,Graphic card (Gtx 670, as advertised), Processor, It's all there. She can handle just about anything I can throw at her, and that's with a few benchmark tests. She cost's a pretty penny, but there is reason for that. She hauls.

Cons: The sound is not working properly! I don't know why, but half the time it is not registering the built in sub-woofer, and everything sounds exceptionally tinny and far off, as if listening from on end of a tunnel to the other. I had a previous series computer (G73), and never once had this issue. I don't know if it is something wrong with a change in audio software ( I noticed its a different company this time around ), and when I went to check to make sure I had up to date software and drivers, I couldn't read the sight because it was in Japanese or Chinese. Extraordinarily troubling. This is a brand new machine opened and found this day of, and I will be contacting Asus to see what can be done. For now I will function with my headphones on, but until it gets resolved, then no 5 egg rating.

Other issue is the weight, but there really is nothing that can be done about that with this beast of a laptop, and I'm fine with that.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Matt,

It seems like you are on the right track looking for the up-to-date drivers for the laptop. I would suggest making sure the sound drivers are downloaded on your computer. That is odd though that the website was in a different language. We have several languages you can choose on the site; you might have accidently selected the wrong language. I would clear your internet cookies and try to visit the ASUS support site again. Once the drivers are downloaded, it should fix the issue that you are having with the sound. Should you need further assistance with downloading the drivers, please do not hesitate to email me at cl-mark@asus.com.

Mark

3 out of 5 eggsFirst Neweeg/ Asus purchase...

Pros: Easy and straight forward case design makes upgrading easy.

Gorgeous graphics card....

Cons: Until further notice... This will remain at three eggs.

I loved this laptop, until I realized that unless it's plugged in... it can't game at all.

When it isn't plugged in( look up G75 fps stutter not plugged in) it begins to stutter and lag... making even the lowest requirement games unplayable... games my Samsung r780 could play with it's intel hd chip... that is incredibly sad. Fix this Asus, and you have a five egg machine... until then... it's a compact desktop.

This is an issue because I don't want to ruin the battery/ I wanted a mobile platform... not a desktop. Had I wanted a desktop... I would have purchased one. ..

This severely detracts from the value for me.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

If I may, I would like to help. First and foremost make sure to download all of the computer's latest drivers from the ASUS support site.

Once you have downloaded and installed your computer's latest drivers, make sure that your laptop's power management setting is set to High performance mode. After the computer is set to High performance mode, the problem with the computer stuttering should be fixed. Also, bare in mind, while your computer is in performance mode, your computer's battery life will be drained rather quickly. Should you need further assistance, please let me know at cl-mark@asus.com.

5 out of 5 eggsFirst NE review and purchase

Pros: First off, Windows 7.
-For various reasons, most notably being familiarity and RAM efficiency.

The Geforce GTX 670M with 3GB memory. The true deciding factor for the laptop after an impressive warranty and customer service review.

The G75 worked wonderfully out of the box, but I just had to replace the HDD with a Solid State Drive and a larger HDD. Worked perfectly after using home made rescue CDs. No complaints and Window's derp speed is impressive. A huge Win7 update took less than a minute (108k+ files). Gorgeous. Installing the TB drive was a cinch thanks to Asus' design of the G75. Utterly painless.

CD/Optical drive. I had purchased and returned an Asus from Best Buy, had no drive... deal breaker on general principle.

Back lighted and ergonomic keyboard.

Numpad.

Nifty touch pad. For when I don't use my mouse.

Fan screens, brilliant.

Backward and out facing vents, also brilliant.
-No longer will my mice or cellphones suffer from heat damage.

Beautiful screen.

I can Asus fanboy froever, I'll update if anything is amiss.

Cons: What might be cons but aren't.
-Weight, it's a laptop with a freaking DVD drive and a legit graphics card. It will be heavy. Not to mention the huge screen. That is gorgeous.

HOWEVER

There seems to be an issue regarding the graphics card on mine, one night, it ran everything from GW2 to TERA and Civ V, Shogun and the like flawlessly and beautifully. Then... it doesn't. Not without being plugged in. Which makes me sad. I am currently running the latest drivers for my laptop and Nvidia. Lots of stuttering without the cord and sometimes does with. This concerns me and I hope that it will be fixed with a patch. I figured it is a soft/firmware thing and it will be remedied with a patch, ergo I will not deduct an egg for it. I just hope it is fixed soon.

That aside, no real cons. I love this machine.

5 out of 5 eggsASUS Rocks!

Pros: Beautiful big screen, vivid display that is easily adjusted if it is too bright or dim. Very rugged design. This beast stays cool even when playing games at the highest settings. Very fast and super quiet. Keys are nicely spaced and backlighting has four brightness settings (including off).

Cons: Battery life, but not really worth an egg as this is expected for a performance machine.

Other Thoughts: Love ASUS products!! Everything I have from them just works. This is a great portable gaming system at an unbeatable price.

One thing to remember, it does put out a good amount of hot air out the back. So you wouldn't want to have it up against anything.

4 out of 5 eggsworked well

Pros: No technical problems so far

Cons: It comes with 500gb but instead if giving you one 500 they give you 2 250 drives which takes up both hard drive spaces, was planning in upgrading memory but now I'll have a 250gb drive laying around

2 out of 5 eggsSome False Things in the Details

Pros: Everything. This lap top is very nice and I get decent FPS on most games which is nice for a laptop. Boots up Windows relatively fast.

Cons: There is one problem that I do not have with the lap top so much but is with Newegg. Under details you can see that this laptop apparently has 3GB of GDDR5 video memory. Mine does not. It only has 1GB. My friend that has the last gen version of this can get better frames in Borderlands 2 than simply because his laptop has 2GB of video memory.

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings Brady,

Thank you very much for letting us know about your situation with the video memory on your computer. If I may, I would like to help.

How did you go about checking the video memory? What adapter does your computer show in device manager under display adapters?

Please respond back to my email at cl-mark@asus.com, and I would be happy to look into this further.

Best regards,
Mark

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Will play pretty much any game on high settings, except for some newer games.
Temps on the gpu haven't gone above 70C, with a mild OC I saw 72C.
Loads up fast, no blue screens, no issues.

Cons: Large, but hey its a 17 inch. Had to get a bigger backpack.

Other Thoughts: Great computer for a desktop replacement.
