5 out of 5 eggsLove it

Pros: FAST ALL THE TIME!!!
Super-quick boot-up
Super reliable

Cons: Heavy
Short battery discharge
"Sub-woofer" is a joke

Other Thoughts: I'm really glad I got this as a desktop replacement for a 1 year trip I took. It served me well and the only problem I had was that the sound, while great for a laptop, is not what you would expect for a system with a subwoofer.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop - Newegg should restock

Pros: Has crisp, colorful, bright LCD display. Fast. Large, easy to use, convenient keyboard. Keeps cool but ultra quiet. HDMI port works well.

Cons: Battery life, but you buy this for its small footprint yet powerful desktop capabilities.

1 out of 5 eggsUsb 3.0 Compatability Issue

Pros: A lot of positive things like fast processor. Good Video card.

Cons: g75 HAS NO FIREWIRE no e-sata and NO USB 2.0. it has 4x USB 3.0 instead. Apparently USB 3.0 is not fully backwards comparable to USB 2.0. i am a musician and i have to use an external USB sound card (also known as Audio Interface). These audio interfaces/ sound cards doesn't work on USB 3.0. I have contacted the maker of the sound card Native Instruments, i have contacted Assus and nobody provided me with a solution. This issue is allover the internet. if you interested Google "USB 3.0 backwards comparability"

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Here is a link below where you can try updating the bios and the USB driver to see if that would work. If you would like to give me more information on the product you are using that is not compatible I will forward to development team to see if they might have a fix or not.

If you have any questions or comments you can email me at cl-jeffrey@asus.com which I reside in the U.S

ASUS strives to meet and exceeds our customer expectations within our warranty policy.

5 out of 5 eggsLooks very good

Pros: This computer boots up and does everything I expected first time. It gives me a standard configuration that I would do for myself on bootup.

It has an awesome video card I would buy that on my DT computer.
I was tasked to find a laptop computer to replace those that were provided for high end mechanical engineering and structural analysis support. It also had to provide supprort for all of the office applications. This laptop would provide my group with all of that and more. I would recommend it in a heartbeat.

Cons: Sometimes it doesn't know what I look like on boot.

The only thing I would like for home use is dedicated video progression keys and audio control keys

Other Thoughts: None after six months

4 out of 5 eggsPowerful Laptop

Pros: -Very powerful for gaming, as far as laptops go.
-Great tough-feeling design.
-Great webcam.
-Extremely fast startup - started and ready to use in 23 seconds flat.
-The sound is actually pretty good for a laptop. The subwoofer vibrates the laptop a little in BF3 with explosions going off.
-The mouse that comes with it is decent for being "free" but still doesn't compare to Razer mice.

Cons: There is a quiet beeping sound which appears to be coming from the speakers while I am video chatting on skype. Not sure if that is a skype problem, my laptop, or my friend's laptop.
As several others said, the partitions on the drives are a little annoying. It splits both the 256 GB SSD and the 750 GB HDD in half, totaling 4 partitions. I decided to just leave it. A little organization never hurt anybody.
Other than that, none so far.

Other Thoughts: Almost every review on this laptop whined about battery life. This is an extremely powerful computer and no one with adequate knowledge of laptops would be upset that the battery only lasts 2-3 hours. It seems to last 2 hours on entertainment mode (regular brightness while video chatting) and about 3 hours on powersave mode.

Runs BF3 on Ultra quite smoothly. I haven't installed Skyrim yet, but I am sure it won't disappoint there either.

I would absolutely recommend this laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

Pros: This laptop is a beast! can play any game on maxed out setting. Best for your moneys worth with the i7 2.6 and all the other awesome specs. Other reviews stated sound issues, I have had no issues, Just upgrade your bios and get the new drivers from the asus site. Keyboard is also very gaming friendly with spaced out buttons. Computer starts up in about 15 seconds with the awesome solid state HD

Cons: Comes with a little bit of bloat ware on the CD. Both hard drives are partitioned into two, not really a need for this

Other Thoughts: Awesome machine

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Gaming Laptop

Pros: Blazingly fast with the SSD primary drive. Plenty of RAM and HDD space. Blu-Ray burner is also a plus. Aesthetic design has that "wow" factor when you take it out around others. 3GB dedicated video card makes gaming worth it. Can run anything out there on max graphics without a problem.

Cons: Sometimes, the sub-woofer speaker comes on despite having headphones plugged in. Short battery life, though it's not really designed to be used on the battery. Due to its size, it's also heavy. Again, it's not meant to be carried for extended periods.

Other Thoughts: This is designed to be a desktop replacement computer. IF you're looking for something that's designed to be portable and carried with you all day with great battery life...this isn't it. However, if you're looking for something to replace a desktop computer and only want the ability to have desktop power in a laptop, then this is the computer you want.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PC

Pros: -High performance in very demanding games
-QUIET
-Very good cooling/ventilation system
-Easy to clean and maintain
-Plenty of ports
-Designed to be durable - Brushed aluminum surrounding keyboard/most of the body.
-1920 x 1080 Resolution Screen
-Comfortable to use

Cons: -Screen assembly feels a bit cheap as though there isn't enough binding holding the frame on, and the plastic frame around the screen feels a bit cheap compared to the rest of the laptop, which is made mostly from brushed aluminum encased by a rubberized plastic.

-Despite there being a subwoofer, the quality is on par with what you get with a $20 speaker setup. Not much of a con, though, since gaming usually involves a headset.

-It's heavy and large - be warned that this is a desktop replacement and may not fit in some backpacks or sleeves, and weighs a lot.

-Battery life is short. Like two hours short. But again not much of a complaint since it's essentially a desktop replacement and is running a 670M and a cooling system.

-Pre-partitioned hard drives are a pain.

Other Thoughts: I'm going to be a freshman in college as a computer science major and had my sights on this PC since before its release. I'm an avid gamer, and I went into this expecting a high weight and large size as it is mostly a desktop replacement.

We purchased the G75-VW-RS72 (which is a slightly different model with almost the same hardware - the "free" ROG gear jacks up the price) from another retailer which was offering custom builds. This model closest models what we purchased, and I absolutely love it. The "Cons" aren't so much problems but what separates it from being an absolutely ideal machine, and are more so warnings to potential buyers who might not be aware of what this is really designed for.

The cooling system is absolutely amazing. The laptop has yet to get even remotely hot despite some all-day gaming marathons this summer and extensive "AFK" periods while playing graphically-demanding MMO's. The noise level is also incredibly low.

Overall, amazing machine.

5 out of 5 eggsBang! Right out of the box!

Pros: Look and feel, makes you want to touch it.
First touch pad I have ever gone more than the first five minutes of ownership without disabling it. Works great and doesn't jump when your palm touches it.
Boots in a slow count of 15. One One thousand, Two One Thousand....
Staring more than four hours requires the immediate attention of a Physician. This thing is gorgeous even from across the room -- your cube mates are going to have wood.
Rippin fast. Super quiet. Cool running. Adequate sound.
Sleeps quick, wakes quick.

Cons: Partitioned drives, as everyone else says.
Tough to find a laptop bag for it. Even the one that comes with it and the one in the special offer are tight.
Weighs as much as a baby, but smarter.
Charger/power supply weighs as much as a cat, but less hairy.

Other Thoughts: Right out of the box this machine is awe inspiring. The kind of machine you might find in an F1 pit doing diagnostics on a Ferrari. Sort of tough book looking. My last laptop hit the ground two weeks ago, right on the power switch. Humpty was dead. IT was a beast, this one is beast master. It is heavy, you know you are carrying it, soothing weight on your shoulder with the bag slung over it. All the rubber texture keeps it in place in all the usual positions and contortions of daily use. It whispers to you in the dark, in the glow of nicely back lit keys. Chicklets are comfortable after you get used to the really short stroke. I would imagine that a bigger screen is going to be introduced before the body style is retired, usually happens when the bezel is this much bigger than the actual lit screen. I bought my son an ASUS a couple of years ago. If they keep this up I will be buying them for me for a while to come. Good job guys.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop, Horrid Company

Pros: Great Case Design
Very good Looking
Cooling is Top notch
Keyboard well designed
Performance Is incredible, plays all the latest games (Skrym and Battlefield) on high or ultra

Cons: Battery life (its really, really, bad. lowest brightness and settings and the most I could pull is 2hrs and 49mins)
The Speakers (I don't know if it's the speaker itself or the drivers but I have 6 year old laptops with better sound)
The Screen (The Matt on the screen is ugly)
It's a little heavy
The power brick is as big as a power supply
MERCY SAVE YOU IF YOU NEED WARRANTY REPAIRS

My laptop came with a defect where the screen has a wavy screen flicker when the brightness get turned down, not a big problem but for $2000+ dollars that isn't right so I called customer service and I felt confidant about them. So I sent my unit in and a 2 weeks passed and it vanished in there system, so I am dying for 2 weeks and it was found and sent back 1 month, i get it back , not only was it not fixed but they broke the Back-lighting for the keyboard. So I call them and go through hell at first they refused to do anything until 3 hrs on the phone. And I'm still fighting with them still

Other Thoughts: Don't get me wrong, I love my laptop. It's design with the rubber coating is brilliant and it looks great (get compliments all the time). the cooling is genius not only does it look good it works good (form and function united) I have pushed this laptop hard it only gets warm. It's fast, you can play the latest titles between high and ultra no problem depending on the title. I play Skyrm on max resolution on multiple settings tweaked on high and ultra with long view distance. Now remember people this is a laptop, your not going to be getting max max max settings on everything, like you could for a desktop for $1500, But the $500 extra you pay goes for the portability and flexibility that it offers. I just drove cross country playing Skyrm and Starcraft 2 in hotel rooms you could never do that with a desktop. Now all of you need to know even though the battery is a 8 cell you can't really play those games without big frame rate drops. Bottom line if yours comes defective, Return It
