Asus Zenbooks pack brilliant performance into thin, sturdy bodies. These ultrabooks feature 1080p screens and Nvidia graphics cards, so all videos and games will be displayed in the highest possible definition. The screens have matte finishes to reduce glare while enhancing images' colors. As such, the ultrabooks offer outstanding picture quality without sacrificing any of the portability that is essential for an ultrabook.

Zenbooks' sound clarity is on par with their image quality. Models in this Asus ultrabook line produce clean audio with minimal distortion, even at the highest volume levels.

The slim notebooks also offer a wide range of ports. On the right side, there are two USB slots and a full-size HDMI jack, while the left has SD Card support and another USB port.

2 out of 5 eggsFailure

Pros: Slim.

Cons: My SSD and Motherboard died on this unit. No problem these things happen. I send it out to get repaired and received a dented unit.... The case is all out of wack. Ok I tell myself these things happen also ill send it back and just get it replaced. MY SECOND UNIT COMES IN DENTED AGAIN. THIS IS A JOKE. Ive been without a month and half without a laptop. I would be cautious of purchasing this product as if anything fails on it you risk getting dented units and losing your laptop for months at a time.

Other Thoughts: I have loved ASUS in the past and stand by there products but this experience has made me loose faith in what they offer and the quality. I seriously doubt I may purchased another ASUS product again.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear that your unit was dented during the repair process. If this was done with newegg repair facility, you should speak with them to have them replace it for another.

If this has happened through ASUS, please provide me with photos, serial number, and RMA number and I will look into your case for you.

You can email me at cl-jeffrey@asus.com

2 out of 5 eggsScreen dead on 2nd day

Pros: Great form factor as some of the others mentioned. Overall build quality seems pretty good. Asus live update is worthless.

Cons: Screen died after one day of light usage. I was comparing my laptop with my gf's macbook air and guess what? The screen died. Embarrassing! Nothing on the screen during BIOS or Windows startup. I had to use the VGA dongle to connect it to an external monitor. Asus customer service tried fixing the problem over the phone but decided I need to send the unit it. I decided to return the laptop to Newegg and they got me a new laptop in 7 days. So far this one is working ok but I do have 1 bright dot on the screen. Debating if I should make use of Asus' 0 Bright dot guarantee but I'm afraid the computer will come back is worse shape.

Other Thoughts: For the price I paid it's ok. This is my first Asus product and so far it's not a great first impression.
The ambient light sensor is horrible. Macbook Air sensor is 10x better.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear that he screen stopped working on you within the 2nd day. If you are still having issues with the notebook, I suggest you send the unit in for repair.

The zero bright dot policy is only valid for the first 30 days from purchase, so if you want the screen replace act quickly and call our support team.

2 out of 5 eggsI can’t recommend this Zenbook.

Pros: Sleek looking ultra book, nice feel, decent quality matte screen, 3 USBs 3.0, VGA output and adapter.

Cons: Back panel clicks. HDMI output overscans (even after driver update), does not work properly with older HDTV, I ended up using VGA on my older TV. HDMI works fine on new 1080P TV. Not all BIOS features are working properly
The internal hard drive makes clicking noise. The track pad is jumpy. Backlit keyboard sensor does not work properly. ASUS update software does not work properly. I wasn’t able to boot oerating system from USB flash drive. It appears that the USB 3.0 is not recognized by Windows 7 (what?).

Other Thoughts: Well, where do I start? The ASUS technical support seems to be overwhelmed. Their only solution is to send the laptop back for repair (seriously, a 3 week old laptop needs a repair). I had three different brand laptops before, but I never had a unit with so many problems. Terrible customer service. Sorry ASUS, I won't be buying your products anymore.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear that you were unable to boot from USB, did you try using that USB to boot from another computer to see if the problem still persists. If so, then the problem is the way you downloaded the O/S in your USB.

2 out of 5 eggsKeyboard stopped working after a month

Pros: Slim design

Cons: Keyboard stopped working after a month.

Other Thoughts: Would like to get a refund, not replacement.
Nothing wrong with NewEgg. You guys put on decent deals.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear that you are having a problem with the keyboard. Sounds like you will have to send the unit in for service.

4 out of 5 eggsA very good ultrabook

Pros: lightweight, cheap- bought it at 499. Use the same model as UX32VD, backlit keyboard, can be replaced with SSD. I did that with samsung 840 250G now works like a charm. THe design is on the top of the ultrabook product line.

Cons: Now it's out of stock already. And when I received this item the keyboard of the backspace is broken. I have to send it back to Asus for repair. But it is fast and free shipping. Another pro for the customer and RMA service for Asus.

1 out of 5 eggsBad keyboard. Stay away from this one

Pros: Sleek design. Light weight.

Cons: Keyboard was broken after only one week of lightly use (less than 20 hours).

I tried to reinstall driver, ASUS bloatwares, OS without any sign of luck. (of course, via my own wireless keyboard, and i always had to avoid accidentally "shutdown" the laptop; otherwise I cannot turn it on anymore)

Other Thoughts: Stay away from this one. I have seen some bad reviews about the keyboard already but I still did not believe it. Now this is what I get!!!

Nothing wrong with Newegg, you guys still rock. I hope I can have a full refund, not a replacement though.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear that you are having an issue with the keyboard. If you have already did a factory restore and you are still having issues with the keyboard, the best thing to do is get a refurnd and have it exchanged for another.

1 out of 5 eggsBad keyboard. Get away from this one

Pros: Very light weighted. Sleek design.

Cons: Keyboard was completely a failure. I just bought and used this for less than 20 hours and the keyboard already stopped working.

I did try to reinstall the driver, reinstall all the bloatwares of ASUS's, reinstall OS but no luck at all. (of course, via the wireless keyboard, and I have to make sure that I hit the "restart," not the "shutdown," otherwise, I could not turn it on anymore since the power key does not work.)

Other Thoughts: Did an RMA with Newegg, I hope I could have a refund, not a replacement.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it!

Pros: Beautifully designed, back-lit keyboard, good screen resolution, good sound quality, good battery life

Cons: Track pad is a little bit too sensitive.

Other Thoughts: I would say for the price I paid the computer is really great! The i3 core is perfect for watching movies, tv series and browsing the internet. That's all I need from my computer. I love the sound quality. The installed Realtek HD audio manager allows you to adjust the sound settings and to achieve the best audio quality. Love the screen resolution. I love everything about this computer. Although having some issues with a trackpad as it's a little bit to sensitive. Sometimes I end up opening unnecessary things. But I think I just have to get used to this.

3 out of 5 eggsIt's OK

Pros: - Trackpad is not bad at all, it's nice to have a large Trackpad. People complaining about it needs to look at FN+F9 key on the keyboard and use it!
- No bloatware! I only needed to uninstall the Bing bar and McAfee antivirus which only had a 30 day trial
- The reason you buy this is the form factor and though not as slim as more expensive, true "wedge" shaped models, it's still pretty slim.
- Very stylish - this feels like a luxury item than something with pure utility. The looks sold it to me.

Cons: - Only 4 hour battery life as shown by Windows battery meter (I have not tested it)
- The hard drive is slow at 5400 rpm and i can feel it while launching apps and opening folders.
- The base plate is attached via screws to the body, it's not a unibody machine and there are areas both on left and right side that creaks and flex in/out of the body. Not something to be expected of a high quality machine of this level.
- Screen is lowest resolution of the bunch, I much rather have 1600x900 - that is the ideal resolution to get. FullHD is overkill for this screen size.
- This model does not come with carrying case/sleeve. Neither it has the LAN adapter. It does has the VGA adapter.
- For a machine aiming to be ultra-portable, I was surprised by its weight. It felt like really heavy when I lift it up.

Other Thoughts: I intend to update my review after using it more. So far first impressions are its not a bad machine for 500 bucks.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Glad to hear that you are enjoying your purchase. Yes I believe the model you have has the lower specs as we do have other models that come with an SSD hard drive that you will not feel anything. If you wand to save the battery life, you can change your power settings to battery saver.

If you are looking for better screen resolution we do have other models at higher price range as well.

If you are still within the return policy with newegg, I suggest returning this unit and maybe get our new touch enabled model the X202 or S200.

If you have any questions or comments you can email me again at cl-jeffrey@asus.com which I reside in the U.S

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome general use laptop

Pros: We bought this for my older sister as a general use laptop, and she has no complaints. It works insanely well in general use, the hybrid drive is great, I wouldn't mess with it and try to put a SSD in there, but I suppose it's possible to do. It uses an i3 so you shouldn't expect amazing performance, and with limited RAM you won't be making this machine into a beast, but you can expect it to run fast, be sleek, and get you to what you want with no problems. Also ASUS has little to no OEM software on there to start, and no horrid free software from random companies, which I LOVED.

Cons: Large track pad isn't great, but there is a key command to disable the track pad when typing, and it only takes a quick second, so no real problem there.
