1 out of 5 eggsIn Search of Incredible

Pros: The hardware of this tablet looks great on paper. I'm very impressed with the screen a bright beautiful HD that looks better than Apple's IMO.

Cons: Just like Asus's slogan... In search of incredible, they truly are still searching for an incredible, or even credible, tablet as of yet. I have owned two TF700Ts. I purchased one when it first came out, and then a year latter I purchased another (hoping they fixed the issues.) They have had both the same problems. The standard interface issues of SUPER laggy internet and simple applications. The bezel doesn't fit the tablet well as it seems to have a lot of flex and "pops" when pushed in the correct area. The most aggravating issue is the ghost touches. Both tablets have had them and both have been RMA. Not impressed with their products at all, I gave ASUS two tries and they have failed both.

Other Thoughts: I'm going to try and unlock the tablet after receiving back from RMA. This should provide some zip.

2 out of 5 eggsBEWARE of horrible customer support

Pros: Good unit when it works... fast... attractive... good battery life

Cons: HORRIBLE Customer Support
Some standard apps leave a little to be desired

Other Thoughts: First, let me qualify by saying that I have been a customer and supporter of Asus since the early 90s.

I received my TF700T in December and was very happy with it until May. That is when I had my first issue. This is referring to the keyboard, which is a separate product, but it highlights the issue with their customer support. The rubber feet began randomly falling off of the keyboard. I contacted customer support and they wanted me to actually send the keyboard into the service department to deal with this. That's right they wanted to spend $20-$30 in combined shipping to take care of a few $.10 rubber feet. I eventually got to someone reasonable who said they would send replacement feet. Fortunately, I found the missing feet in my bag, but their solution to the problem was "glue them back on".

Not long after that, I started having issues with the system itself. The touch capabilities started failing and the system began acting erratically. I went through all of the usual Android steps... updates... factory reset... and finally needed to send it in for repair. When I sent it in, the techs "tested" it, decided there was nothing wrong, and sent it back with another factory reset. I got it, reloaded everything, proceeded to use it and the problems were still there. Now they are making me send it back AGAIN.

It gets 2-eggs, because, when it works, it's a great system, but only 2-eggs because their customer and technical support is AWFUL.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Lionheartkc,

I am very sorry that both your tablet and docking station gave you problems. If I may, I would like to help. Please send me the tablet's serial number. Once I have the serial number, I will be able to look into this case further.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat until it's not

Pros: This is absolutely fast. with the option to unlock the bootloader this tablet is the dream to have. The screen is incredible and the brightness is without compare.

Cons: The included asus software can be annoying at times but stays out of the way most of the time.

Other Thoughts: This tablet has been a very close friend of mine until it began to act strange. I decided to turn on the developer option to reveal all touches and I saw that it was recognizing false touches. After some research I discover that there is a hardware issue that can arrive when the gorilla glass flexes and cracks the touch sensor. There is absolutely no software method to fix this and I have become very disappointed. This is a common problem as my friend who has the same tablet has the exact same problem and within days of eachother. This is really unacceptable and I cannot recommend a buy to anyone. I plan to RMA this ASAP.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

Pros: ASUS did an amazing job on this tablet, it's super fast, light weight, looks amazing, and it packs a punch! I hacked it straight out of the box and put CM 10 on it, and stable version were out already so it worked great with CM 10! I use it mostly to take notes with their amazing note taking app, and a stylus, and I play PS1 ISOs on it and they run with 0% lag.

Cons: Only complaints come from the back of it not being scratch resistant enough, with light use I see a few tiny scratches on it. And speaking of the back, the one thing that bugs me the most, gold and purple ASUS? Couldn't you make this in more neutral colors? The gold looks a little silvery in most light, but I wish it was just plain silver, although I think this might be to avoid lawsuits from certain trigger happy companies who believe they invented everything. But no general complaints.

Other Thoughts: I love how ASUS doesn't lag it up with stock apps, even though I hacked it, I wouldn't mind using this stock either, it's basically plain Jellybean out of box with only a few apps that work amazingly well for OEM apps.

4 out of 5 eggsVery good, but could be better

Pros: - Screen quality - full HD, Gorilla Glass 2
- Dock
- Frequent firmware updates, currently Jelly Bean (JB) 4.1.1
- Asus excellent customer service
- Not too much bloatware
- Asus's own keyboard
- Pretty decent sound, although it could be better
- Fast and responsive
- Overall look and appearance
- Slim and light
- Asus's live wallpapers
- Great support on xda-developers web site, easy to root.

Cons: - Quality Assurance (QA) issues
- Volume buttons inconveniently placed
- Lack of mini/micro USB port
- Single speaker, advertised as "stereo" (it seems people at Asus don't know the definition of "stereo")

Other Thoughts: From a functional point-of-view, this table is wonderful. To understand what I mean, take ANY other tablet - including the iPad - outside on a bright sunny day (we have plenty of these here, in S. California), and try reading an article. Good luck with that!

I, on the other hand, can read an article, see a movie, or Skype my friends outside on a bright day without a problem. The screen is very responsive, and the gestures are smooth. The automatic brightness works well. Watching movies in HD is something to look forward to. I have no problem reading the screen in full sunlight when I use it as a moving map (GPS) when flying. Pilots should seriously consider Infinity over the iPad. (I know I did.)

It is easy to root in order to get rid of unwanted bloatware. Asus does an excellent job at updating the firmware (operating system), thus weeding out bugs and improving Infinity's performance. It also does a great job at not trying to stop you from rooting your tablet. And, their customer service is exemplary!

The tablet is light, you can use it for hours without getting tired. It should be like that, given that its battery lasts some 9 hours of continuous use. It finish is beautiful. I like the golden finish; to me, it looks more refined than the grey tone. It's very thin, which could create a problem holding it for some people.

However, the Infinity doesn't come without hiccups. I am at my second Transformer now. The first Transformer I received had several problems (QA issues):
- it would make a clicking sound whenever I was holding it by the left side in landscape mode. Looking from the side, one could see the screen flexing when pressed along the edges in several places. The screen was not firmly attached to the frame;
- the back camera was misaligned with the chassis;
- screen would flicker at times, and there were white lines streaking across the screen. This issue didn't improve with updating the firmware.

Newegg promptly issued an RMA # (thank you, folks!), and I had my replacement within a week. This unit still has some QA issues - the Aluminum frame is corroded in several places along the edge, and the screen still bends in several places when pressed along the edges. But the extremely annoying clicking sound and white streaks are gone. The white light leaking from the bottom backlight LEDs goes away after the operating system has booted, and does not pose any problem, even in complete darkness.

The volume buttons position makes it cumbersome to use them when holding the tablet in portrait (vertical) mode. The bottom port gets in the way if you want to use the tablet while it's charging. Lack of a mini/micro USB port for charging and connection is definitely a minus.

All in all, I love my Infinity, and hope Asus will address their QA issues. After all, this is a $500 tablet!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Loving it so far. The ASUS apps it comes with are pretty cool, and while their keyboard is much better than the standard Android one, I still love Switfkey 3 more :-)

Much lighter than my Xoom, great battery life, and the Tegra 3 graphics are AWESOME.

Cons: Poor speakers, but I rarely use it since I have headphones or a Jawbone Big Jambox to use instead.

2 out of 5 eggsSame Issues

Pros: Great Technical Specs

Cons: I had the same issues as the reviewer above/below.....I even did two factory restores with the latest firmware xxxx.26. When opening up Asus apps and no installed apps of my own, the screen would go blank and the device would freeze. This happens all the time with a FRESH INSTALL! Navigating the tablet is laggy. Wireless performance is horrible. I put it side by side (well not too close to cause interference) with my Samsung Galaxy S3 phone and I pick up the router with 5.0ghz full bars on my phone. The Asus Infinity does not support 5.0ghz (very poor) and only 2.4ghz. I barely get a signal and the router is in the next room! It's a high end Netgear R6300. Top of the line.

I'm so disappointed in this tablet. Maybe I got a bad copy; maybe it's software issues, but Asus is not good on customer support. I emailed them for two weeks to post the newest firmware as the device would not receive the released firmware OTA.

Other Thoughts: I'm returning the tablet and will look for something else. It's a real shame as Asus could have made this tablet a real hit. Too many issues for this price and with these specs.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Jettubby,

I apologize for the issues you have encountered with the TF700. Is you tablet still unable to receive any OTA updates? As of a few days ago, build version V9.4.5.30 was released. The new update is suppose to address a lot of issues including system stability. There were also some TF700 models out there that could not receive any OTA updates. If yours still cannot get the updates automatically, please e-mail me. I can be reached at I'll be happy to assist you.

Best Regards,

ASUS Customer Loyalty

3 out of 5 eggsNot quite inifinty, but close

Pros: Thin; lightweight; sturdy; beautiful display; powerful, a "blank slate" to do what you wish (thank you, Android/Asus)

Cons: Lack of apps that utilize said powerful specs
Buggy in the early stages of release

Other Thoughts: After playing around with it for a week, I've had some great moments, and not so great moments. When it works, it runs nice and smooth. When it doesn't, we have dropped apps, frozen screens, and the infamous "white screen of death". This type of advanced device should not be plagued by these issues, but hopefully can be worked out with future (soon please) software updates.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I apologize for the issues you have encountered with your new TF700. If you are noticing that the tablet is running a little slow or sluggish, try performing a cold boot to reset the device. Doing so will clear the memory and give it a "fresh start". A lot of times, you will find the tablet running a lot smoother after the cold boot. You could also go a little further and perform a factory wipe and restore to clear the system cache. If there is a software conflict causing the issue, this will help it. If you would like further assistance regarding the issue, please feel free to contact me directly I can be reached at I'll be happy to assist you in any way that i can.

Best Regards,

ASUS Customer Loyalty
