1 out of 5 eggsExchange

Pros: Amazing laptop, super fast and doesn't over heat when play games like COD, LoL, or Skyrim

This is a con, it would go into a blue screen sometimes. Most likely came damage because the box it came with had a dented in part.

Cons: It came damaged, it would come up with blue screen when I turn it on sometimes, and when I called newegg they told me to send it in for a replacement and when I did it took them from thanksgiving to the week of christmas! So I called newegg everyday to ask what was going on, and most of them told me, "we are waiting on RMA response". Then I get an e-mail from the RMA department saying that they ran my laptop for 12 HOURS STRAIGHT and is not defective and to just contact ASUS if I am not satisfied with what they have done and that they will be shipping it back to me. Like really now? How is Newegg going to make me wait a whole month and say that my item is not defective and return it to me?? If my laptop wasn't defective, why would I waste my time and send it in? I needed that laptop to do school work and thanks to Newegg I failed 2 finals! Thanks Newegg! I spent $750 on a laptop that doesn't even turn on sometimes. Never again would I buy something from Newegg! What happened to customer is always right? SMH worst Christmas ever.

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsGood, with some bad things

Pros: + USB 3.0
+ Minimal crapware, most of whatever is on there is also easily removed
+ Decent graphics card, for a laptop
+ Multitouch trackpad
+ Nice design

Cons: - Speakers are on the bottom...
- Screen is kind of washed out, but manageable
- Power button is kind of close to escape button, could cause some accidents.
- Indicator lights are in an awkward position, but that's not much of a big deal.

Other Thoughts: DON'T use the ASUS updater, just use windows update. It took me hours with the ASUS one, windows update was simple and quick.

This laptop is definitely worth the money if you're looking for a decent one. I use it for audio production, and with ASIO4ALL it works like a charm.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop for the price!

Pros: Comes with Windows 7!! I've tried using Windows 8 in a virtual PC and my wife got a new Windows 8 PC for her work and we hate it, so getting Windows 7 with this laptop saved me the hassle of formatting and reloading it.

Can't beat the included hardware combined with Asus' reputation. The InstantOn function is literally that - system usually resumes in less than 10 seconds. Actually includes 2 video cards (Intel HD 4000 and nVidia 610) to further conserve battery life. Doesn't include much "bloatware" (only removed a couple apps after setting it up).

Cons: Unable to easily change default partition sizes. Drive appears to be configured in a 40/60% C:/D: configuration. I actually prefer a secondary partition for keeping my data separate from the OS, but the 40% C: drive was a bit large for my needs. Windows was unable to resize the partition and attempting to use a 3rd party partition manager crashed the whole system resulting in a factory restore. The restore options appear to let you choose between a full C: drive or a split C:/D: drive, but you're unable to choose the partition sizes in the restore.

The touch pad also proved to be a bit challenging. I appreciate that Asus was attempting to make the touch pad be more than just that -- it appears to have the ability to perform multi-touch functions similar to a smartphone/tablet -- but these functions only added to my headache when trying to use the laptop. The touchpad & mouse buttons are all one device similar to Apple's laptops and although the bottom portion of the pad is supposed to be reserved for the left/right buttons, it still registered these areas as touch points and would cause the cursor to do strange things and/or lose focus on the window you were working in. Thankfully you can disable all the various functions of the touchpad so after turning off all features except for the "buttons" the system is much more usable.

Other Thoughts: MAKE THE RECOVERY DISCS IMMEDIATELY!! Thankfully I at least made the ISO files for the recovery discs before attempting to resize the partitions and was able to remove the hard drive and connect to another computer to get the ISO's burned to DVD's. Otherwise I'd have been totally hosed as there's no physical recovery media included.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Good For Price

Pros: Very Comfortable Feeling
Strong GPU for a laptop of this price
I use this computer for mostly digital work and casual gaming. I can play EVE Online no problem as well as League of Legends in high graphics no problem. Battery Life is excellent compared to a lot of laptop. I LOVE the instant start from hibernate, with a very long standby time. Love the option to switch from high performance for graphics to battery saver with just a simple widget on the desktop.

Cons: No real separation on touch pad from buttons to pad, the pad picks up fingers on the buttons and thinks you are using both fingers.

Other Thoughts: This laptop is an excellent combination of graphics for light-medium use gamer, and also perfect for battery life. It's lightweight and quiet and very comfortable to have on my lap or on a college desk.

4 out of 5 eggsOverall Decent

Pros: -Nice looking lid
-The palm rest is brushed steel, and looks nice
-Well designed
-Seperate Video card
-Good CPU
-Doesn't come with too much shitware preloaded

Cons: -Chiclet keyboard (may be a plus for some people) But it's hard to find a keyboard without one nowadays
-Speakers are mediocre (Albeit better than most Laptop speakers)
-Numpad (I personally don't like numpads on my laptops)
-The trackpad is absolute ****, the buttons pick up finger movements so file management with the trackpad is a nightmare, use a mouse.
-The GPU is the weakest in the 600 series, but having a seperate video card IS nice.
