5 out of 5 eggsWhy buy an iPad?

Pros: • I have owned this device for over 2 years (I have the first gen), and man, do I love it when I see it every day. It’s not every day that you buy something and go, "yeah, I did make the right decision".
• Fast download and upload speeds
• Nice screen resolution
• Can be super bright so that it is very visible during peak sunlight
• Light weight, (the sole reason I bought during college years)
• A single charge will easily last me three days (it use to last me four, but the battery is showing its age and use).
• Constantly updated by Google software in a way that isn’t annoying. Every single update I have gotten from Google has made this device better.
• I love watching Netflix on this thing
• The build quality (when I was in school I put this with my other textbooks and it took a beating in my backpack

Cons: • the sound quality is good, but if you are an audiophile like me (love good sound), then there are other devices out there. However, I still believe it sounds better than an iPod, or at worse the same.
• That’s it, no more cons.

Other Thoughts: My expereince with device was so positive that I am now saving up to buy the next Nexus that comes out during 2015 (if one does come out). But even then, I won't get rid of this one.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat tablet

Pros: -Able to handle everything I throw at it
-Gets Android updates very quickly
-ASUS has good customer service

This tablet has been great. It plays everything I have thrown at it with no issue at all. One of the first things I played on it was GTA III, an it runs very smoothly. I have used it to play many of the Final Fantasy games with no issue. Plays Netflix without ever having a stutter. Paired with a bluetooth keyboard, this tablet was great for me for school and random times I needed it for work too.

Cons: -Had a the screen fail after about 9 months of use
-No SD card slot

So, the screen died on me less than a year after I purchased it. It was sad, but it was handled well by ASUS. Things break, it happens, honestly it makes me happy that ASUS handled it so well and repaired it without any issue. Its great to know the manufacturer will support their product. I really wish it had an SD card slot for easy storage expansion. But with USB GO stuff, I can still add to the storage fairly easily.

Other Thoughts: NOTE: there is a newer version of this tablet that I would recommend over this one overall, but with the price cuts and sales this version has received, it is still a great value.

This is just a great tablet for the price. I was pretty sad when the screen died on me, but all I had to do was contact ASUS and they were fast to get the RMA process going. I think from the time of me contacting them to the time I received my repaired tablet back it took 2 weeks, not too bad in my opinion. All I had to do was pay shipping to get it there, they did honor the warranty without any issue.

I paired it with an Otterbox Defender and have let my son have it now, it stands up to the... use of a 3 year old very well.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: First tablet. More than enough for me. Great for games. Speaker is a bit wanting, but you can get a bluetooth headset, or speaker. Reading ebooks is easy to read. Good buy if your looking for one.

Cons: Some apps require a back facing camera, this does not have one. Cant eDeposit checks which was disappointing.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat tablet

Pros: Purchased to store ebook textbooks (since they're cheaper) and to use a a pseudo-wifi phone w/gvoice.
-Perfect size for large hands.

Cons: -Doesn't have a slot for microSD (although this can be solved with ROOT and an OTG cable)
-No front camera
-A little slow loading large PDF files.

Other Thoughts: -Great when I purchased it, will definitely stick with the Nexus line for future purchases.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Gift

Pros: This was a gift for my Dad and he loves it. Does everything he wants it to do, on a larger screen than his phone. I picked it up for like 160 USD on sale.

Cons: Not a 10" but it gets the job done.

Other Thoughts: If you need something with more ram go with the newer revision. If this will take care of your needs (browsing and video) it's a fantastic choice.

5 out of 5 eggsPresent

Pros: The battery life while using this device was astounding. I origionally purchased this device for my girlfriend to do the things she does on her phone at night without racking up data. She has been using it for her Nook account as well as tons of online shopping. This tablet has saved me a world of energy trying to do things for her by making it easy for her to do her own stuff.

Cons: She never lets me use it! I havent personally spent to much time on it but i asked her if she had any complaints about it and she said there was nothing she had a real big problem with.
I did try to get her some of the free books off the internet by downloading it right to the tablet, however i was unable to designate the placement of the files which made it hard to upload them into an e-reader application. Not a deal breaker.

Other Thoughts: Going to get myself one once i can afford to buy it.

2 out of 5 eggsWorked Good Until Kit Kat

Pros: Worked great for 10 months, got it with 4.2 installed. Fast, responsive, touchscreen worked well. Everything and more that you would wish for out of a $200 class tablet.

Cons: Always had weird battery issues, would not charge overnight or would die even when completely off over a day or two. 4.3 came out, yay, not really. Slower and now touch seemed less responsive. Had to hit the screen hard to get a good response. 4.4 (Kit Kat) came out and did the upgrade hoping to fix the issues that 4.3 seemed to have brought to it. Not a chance, it is basically unusable now. Slow, slow, slow, and touch is even worse. Quick check on Google and I am not nearly alone here. Have to wait seconds between typing words on the keyboard, it autofills multiple copies of the same word, it is basically a brick. Reset hoping it would fix, no chance of that. Replacing today.

Other Thoughts: It was a great device until Google started pushing their updates. I just don't think Google does testing or really cares about performance impacts on new OS releases across the entire spectrum of their ecosystem (I understand this would be hard). Being a pure Android device, I expected much better.

5 out of 5 eggsGood product

Pros: No cons, works as expected. The display is very easy to see even with a protective cover on it. I've never had any issues except a couple with OS updates which are usually fixed pretty quick.

Cons: I now need to sell this one to get the 2nd gen! I like this tablet that much!

Other Thoughts: I bought this last year around this time, you honestly cannot go wrong if it's in your price range however I would recommend going with the 2nd gen as it has twice the ram and a 1080p screen with rear facing camera.
