Pros: It's a great laptop at a great price. Sketchy shipping packaging but all came intact

Cons: Issued an RMA because -
Backlit keyboard did not work (i know its cosmetic, but its a cool feature I paid for)
Instead of a 1tb hard drive, they put in two separate drives - 400G and 500G drive. I was promised a 1tb drive.
I was going to put a SSD in the other spot.

Other Thoughts: This laptop is huge, its more like a mobile desktop. When you travel a lot on the road for work and you still want to game, a laptop like this is a must.

3 out of 5 eggsNeeds to work on QA/QC

Pros: The laptop looks solid enough, and arrived on time.

Cons: The unit was sent with a clearly damaged component (Battery).

Other Thoughts: I understand that this unit is a referb, but ASUS should really be double checking the components they put with their units. The battery for this laptop is clearly damaged, and won't even fit into the battery compartment.

I'm a little disappointed as ASUS has always sent me high quality equipment, and this is the first real issue I've had with them. I can only assume this was an "off" day for someone.

I'm starting an RMA for the battery, but this shouldn't be necessary for a system fresh from warehouse, in my opinion.

Pros: Price and performance. After adding a Samsung 840 SSD this laptop just about blows through everything I can throw at it. Unlike many others I have seen, I have no issues with this machine being a refurb - everything worked fine and the packaging the machine came in was good.

Cons: 5400 RPM 1TB - this isn't really a con though. Do yourself a favor and pickup an SSD for this machine if you intend to do any gaming with it.

Other Thoughts: After reading the other reviews I was a bit hesitant due to it being a refurb and the issues that others had, but I am very happy with what I received.

5 out of 5 eggsNewegg does it again!

Pros: I was reluctant to pull the trigger on this refurb at first, however in all the years I've shopped with newegg, they have never let me down. I'm glad I did because this laptop is superb. Sure like others have said it could have been packaged slightly better, but whatever. No dead pixels, blemishes, scratches, smudges, in fact as far as I could tell, the thing was brand spanking new. I'm very happy with my purchase. Thank you asus for a world class put together product and thank you newegg for bringing it to me unscathed.

Super quiet, best cooling system available, overclockable (which I have no need as of this point, stock is perfect), beautiful crisp display, 90degree power connector, forgiving touch pad, backlit keys, keyboard nicely spaced, separated numeric pad and plenty of inputs.

Cons: no input for my R2 astromech

Other Thoughts: Items bought during the initial purchase were:
SSD - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211597
16gigRam - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233370
Bag - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834995413

The carrying case is outstanding. The handle especially makes toting this otherwise heavy beast around less laborious. Very pleased with its form and function.
With the SSD installed (I took out that dinosaur 1TB 5200 drive immediately) and a fresh clean install of Win7 64, coupled with the total 24gig ram this machine meets and exceeds expectations.
Boot time is 11 seconds.

1 out of 5 eggsUseless waranty

Pros: Nice features

Cons: 90 day warranty. 90 days! are you kidding me. the warranty tells the whole story. if they refurbished it to factory standards the warranty would be same as a new unit. this warranty says we don't trust it to give the full factory warranty.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you very much for your added feedback. I am sorry that you are experiencing problems with your G75VW. Although your warranty is only good for 90 days, I will gladly help troubleshoot the issues that you are having; please send me an email detailing the problem that you are having (including any troubleshooting steps you tried), and I will do my best to assist you from there.

Best regards,
Mark

1 out of 5 eggsPoor Customer Support

Pros: Great Value. Fast computer and good for gaming.

Cons: Poorly Supported By Manufacturer

Other Thoughts: Purchased this computer and 3 months afterwards the battery would not charge. Spent a good deal of money to ship it back to ASUS and after 2 weeks the laptop was returned not in the condition shipped. The cover over the hard drive was not secured, one of the clips had been broken off and was rattling around inside the computer, and they had broken off one of the rubber feet on the bottom and used masking tape to tape it back on. Called customer support and my only option was to send it back again. This was not an option considering the school work I needed to get done and I could not afford to go another 2 weeks without my computer. Be careful with this purchase if you care about owning a product that will be well supported by the manufacturer.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I am deeply sorry that you had a bad experience sending in the laptop for repair. This should be a fairly simple process; I am sorry that wasn’t the case.

Please keep in mind that the option to send the laptop back in to ASUS is still available. If, when you have time, email me back and I can set up the return for you. My email is cl-mark@asus.com.

Best regards,
Mark

5 out of 5 eggsGreat gaming laptop

Pros: display
video card
cpu
ports
sound system
design - both visual and highly functional
price - combo deal with backpack
everything else

Cons: the computer came with very sketchy packaging
my unit came with a very small dent in the metal trim along the outside
the headphone jack is sometimes temperamental. For reasons unknown sound sometimes starts to come out of the speakers and subwoofer when there a headphones connected. The computer is always stationary and the plug is also

Other Thoughts: this is by far the best computer i have ever owned. Soon after purchasing i bought a samsung ssd which tops it off. It overclocks very nicely and plays almost any game fully maxed out. I also downloaded new drivers for the sound and i have not experienced that problem yet. I highly recommend this series of laptop for anyone that is interested.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Buy

Pros: Great laptop for the price. Plays most games at 30+ fps on high/ultra settings (Battlefield 3, Metro 2033, Total War: Shogun 2, CS: GO, Sims 3, Starcraft 2).
2 free RAM slots and 1 free hdd bay for future expansion. Easy to access and clean fan filters.

Runs very cool and quiet. I can only hear the fans kick in when playing games.

Cons: There was a few preinstalled ASUS utilities that I didn't want.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Excellent value for a desktop replacement, with a Windows Experience Index of 7.3 out of 7.9. Having given up TV satellite and cable subscriptions, this computer will serve to display with quality anything online in the near future.

Cons: The size and weight are only issues if a true portable is a priority

Other Thoughts: I originally gave this 2 stars (see Old guy). It is now a repair (many clusters of dead pixels and DVD writer issues) of a replacement of an original purchase (power button failed). I was unable to return the replacement to Newegg because it was outside the 30-day warranty, but Newegg put me in contact with a warranty expert who set me up with Asus, who in turn replaced the screen and the DVD totally free of charge. Very impressed and it all started with Newegg's assistance. Thank you so much

5 out of 5 eggsDont think it twice. Excellent!!!

Pros: - Great design, great laptop, Quad-Core i7, 1080p screen, after upgrading the BIOS you can put 32 GB of RAM in this monster of performance. 1 TB of HDD. Excellent graphics. USB 3.0, card reader, 1 GBs LAN, it has everything you need.

Cons: - 5400 RPM hdd, you must put a SSD in this computer!!!, and it will be almost top in Windows Index. I put 16 GB more, now it is 24 GB, and an SSD of 240 GB. Brand new install is better, and upgrade of Windows 7, Home Premium won't go beyond 16 GB of RAM.
- NO LINE IN!!!

Other Thoughts: If you want to upgrade the RAM, these 16 GB dual channel worked perfect as an addition to the 8GB it has: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233370
