4 out of 5 eggsAsus G75VW

Pros: Runs all the games I play better than my Desktop. It is larger than most laptops.Too big for some folks. Hella lost faster than my old netbook or Desktop. Fast load times, starts very fast. The 3D is neat but my nose got tired of the glasses soon and It got to bug me, but still neat option. Overall I love it and think you will too.

Cons: First it had a speakers problem out of the box. The sound only came out of the bass speaker. This was fixed by recommened fix from Asus site. Runs windows 8. This may not be a con to some but I prefer 7 over 8. * takes some getting used to. and I miss the start button. Low battery life. Seems about 3 hours is limit. Those had been the only things I found but now the charger/power supply has died. I hope they will replace it at no cost. Will update once I find out

Other Thoughts: As I said overall I am really happy with my purchase. Had I to do it over I would skip the 3D. I have yet to get a resolution for the AC adapter/powersupply/charger that has died. I dont get it I always had it plugged into a fused power strip too. Dunno why it quit working.

5 out of 5 eggsBrilliant! No need to keep looking.

Pros: This laptop is your all-in-one entertainment pc. If you want to play games and edit video at the same time. This laptop certainly has the ram to do so, however I would not recommend doing so.

This laptop out performs most of my friends tower computers. Not only in performance, but mainly in mobility.

The two main factors that went in to the purchase was, the soild state drive and the 3D nvidia glasses. With the ssd you almost double you computers speed but cause it does not have to wait on a slow hard drive. And with the glasses you can watch mind melting, incredible, true 3d movies. If you have not seen 3d using shutter glasses your in for a treat.

Cons: Only con and this is not on the hardware. PC game do not fully support 3D yet. It is just not popular enough for them to invest time into it. You will be blown away by movies. It is still worth the price.

4 out of 5 eggsAsus G75VW DH73

Pros: Lightning fast. Boot up time with SSD drive added to windows 8 is outstanding. Instant On, well that explains itself. Plays all the latest graphics intensive games at high/ultra settings without flinching. (The only game that I've found that needs to be toned down is Crysis 3) HD screen is crisp and with 120hz performs amazing. 16gb ram installed is plenty to perform just about anything a gamer would need to do without causing lag. USB charger is always convenient. For the dual fan setup it runs and the heat being displaced out the back the fans run pretty quiet. Nothing that you would be annoyed with.

Cons: WINDOWS 8!!! I could not say that enough! If I would have known the pain in the a.. win 8 was I would have never bought this machine. It has huge compatibility issues with simple programs. Cannot run connectify with drivers installed on this laptop. Does not have hotspot capabilities like previous versions of windows (it can be setup manually through ms-dos prompt). Anything behind the laptop does get pretty hot due to the two fans used to cool the graphics card and CPU.

Other Thoughts: This laptop would easily be a 5 star machine if it wasn't for windows 8. This can be purchased with several different OS's. I was just trying something different and tried windows 8. I just bought a new SSD drive to do a clean install of windows 7. Note-it is very difficult to swap The OS on this laptop from win 8 to win 7. I fought it for 3 hours before being told by three separate sources (Including Asus) that you cannot do it. I know you can do it, but I figured having a SSD drive with original OEM installation wasn't a bad idea. Respond to this if there is anything else you would like to know. All in all this is a great machine. Once the debacle that is win 8 is off of it, it will be hands down the best laptop I've owned.

5 out of 5 eggsLooking for a Beast. Found it.

Pros: I wanted a laptop to support 32GB RAM for running virtual machines. This one comes with a mere 16GB, but is upgradeable to 32. There are a lot of goodies with this one for me -- a road-warrior/coder. I like the keyboard -- it's about the best I've had in a long time, and the low profile power plug is an absolute must.

Cons: It's heavy. The weight isn't a major factor for me, as I will have 10 or 15 VM's loaded on it, and two or three laptops to support all that at once isn't much fun to lug around. The power brick is also a brick. I had no idea. Wondering if there are a couple lead-acid batteries in it or something. It's rated at 19V, 9.5A, so I suppose they wanted a steady power supply for the gamers this is aimed at. The biggest con is Windows 8. The touch-screen design is one of the ugliest I've seen, and I didn't notice the screaming performance I wanted until I turned a bunch of things off.

Other Thoughts: I bought it for virtual machines, and it certainly has the beef to handle that. I yanked the drives after playing with Win8 for a while, so I could figure out how to lay my base OS down without a lot of rewrites to my SSD. Not a fan of UEFI, by the way. A monster pain. To get it to boot to a CD, you have to change BIOS options, and press escape during POST -- hoping that I won't have to do that long-term. I loaded FreeBSD 9.1 on it -- right now, compiling VirtualBox on it, and will see what it looks like after that has a chance to run. The compile is moving right along. I'll run a make world on it sometime, see how far I can push it. The ASUS tech I talked to said that dual boots are problematic -- but that's a Windows 8 not playing well with others issue, and isn't really that much of a surprise.

I'm a big fan of ASUS mobos -- and looks to me like they did this one right. Overall, I'd say this is a great programmer laptop, if you don't mind the weight, and judging by my results so far, will do a great job hosting vm's.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Gaming Laptop

Pros: Great Performance. 3D is much better than I expected. Running many of the newest games at highest settings with no pauses or delays.

Cons: Windows 8. Would have preferred an option for 7 out of the box. Will admit though, that once you are used to 8 there is not much difference. Just dislike the boot interface. In order to get the 3D working, you need to make some security changes in the BIOS. You would think ASUS would have that configured out of the box. Tough to find a proper sized laptop case for this.

Other Thoughts: I know the Cons list seems long, but it really all is trivial stuff. I have had this for close to two weeks and absolutely love it. I did not want the 3D but this laptop had all of the other features/specs I wanted so I got it. Now I am so glad I have the 3D as it is so much better than I thought.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat !

Pros: Extremely fast, great features

Cons: Buggy as delivered. Asus update non-functional. Some keys missing backlite. Lite-On SSD ??

Other Thoughts: Go to Asus and get latest Bios first. Winflash it from Windows. Install updated drivers. New ATK package seemed to fix touchpad woes. LOT of money not to be perfect when delivered.
