2 out of 5 eggsI'd buy from another brand.

Pros: I suppose when it is properly working it gets the job done. It is relatively fast, and works well for word processing and internet use.

Cons: I have had major issues with powering on this computer. If it is left powered off for more than an hour or so, 95% of the time it won't turn on and I have to remove the battery and let it sit for a few minutes in order to get the computer working again.

I'm an avid gamer, and I play games such as League of Legends, Minecraft, and Left 4 Dead 2 which aren't particularly hard on a computer. I would experience horrible frame rate drops and had to factory reset the computer on multiple occasions.

The USB ports randomly stopped working for my Steel Series mouse, which had been working fine for over a year and still works fine on my other computer.

Other Thoughts: It's not a bad laptop for the money, but it just seems to have way too many issues for what it's worth. I sent in an RDM form to Asus today, so it's hopefully still usable as a work laptop in the future.

1 out of 5 eggsNo more ASUS for me

Pros: It worked fairly well for nine months.

Cons: At only nine months old, and without ever having a lapse in anti-virus, the computer had slowed down to the point where loading Windows took a minimum of 8 minutes and using the computer was impossible. When I tried to run the recovery partition that came with the computer, it did not work. I will now have to replace the hard drive or the entire computer. What a waste of money.

5 out of 5 eggsAffordable, lightweight, above average for everyday tasks.

Pros: So lightweight! From standby mode (screen down) it really is a 2-second on! Keyboard lights up, and very good battery. Lots of hard drive space.

The price was about right for this laptop. Nothing spectacular, but very travel friendly.

This is a great all around laptop, although I wouldn't classify it as a ultra-book.

Cons: Mediocre webcam. So much bloatware.

Other Thoughts: I'm using it mostly for 2d game programming and have no complaints. Love the lightweight feel. Some people have complained about the placing of the trackpad, saying that they hit the pad with their thumb or palm more often than not. This is not the case for me. I got used to it pretty quickly and that rarely happens to me anymore, usually when my posture is bad.

4 out of 5 eggsAll good but the mouse pad

Pros: Powerful, sleek, light, sharp looking, large memory and good RAM.

Cons: One con is the mouse pad. Can't rest the heels of my hands on the laptop or the cursor jumps. Can't set the sensitivity of the mouse pad. Real bummer and a pain in the rump.

3 out of 5 eggsFrustration

Pros: Decent computer, decent graphics, fast, I've had some trouble with running Windows 8 but I think that's more to do with the software than the computer. I got a great deal on it so I think it was worth the price. BUT......

Cons: .....the touch pad is placed off to the left so much that while typing it is impossible not to brush the top with my palm. This misplaces the cursor and suddenly I'll be typing miles away from where I began. VERY ANNOYING...can be solved though by using a mouse and turning off touch pad but frustrating when that is not an option.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I am fairly pleased with my purchase.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

If you are using an external mouse, it is possible to turn off your track pad so that you don’t accidently hit it while typing. There should be a keyboard shortcut to turn it off. You can also go into your Device Manager and manually turn it off, also. If you have any questions, or if you would like further support, please e-mail me at cl-tien@asus.com.

Tien

2 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY

Pros: when it works it doesnt give off much heat.
its smaller and thinner then most newer laptops
It worked for 1 month properly. I Guess thats some sort of victory for NEWEGG since I can't return it now.

Cons: the mouse pad is in the wrong area. It's a constant battle accidentally touching the mousepad and it makes my screen dim out like it's in sleep mode. The biggest issue is the power source. The computer constantly acted like it was charging not charging vice versa it was annoying and then it finally killed my comp now it doesn't want to charge and now it doesn't work.

Other Thoughts: In the end I would avoid this product. Most of the reviews are from people who had it for 1 week or less. I have had it for 3 months. The issue with the charge not charging thing has been going on since the beginning. I would avoid ASUS I will go APPLE from now on. Windows based systems have been going down for sometime now to get a functional laptop that can last at least a few years is beyond a dream its more like a fantasy. This has done it for me.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear that you are having issues with the power source. Sounds like you will have to send the unit in for service in order for us to resolve your issue.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Stunningly light nor Powerfully built.

Pros: There is little to recommend this. I suggest you look elsewhere.

Cons: I continue to get a slight tingling in my hands when I touch this device when it is connected to the power. I looked in vain for an ASUS support number on google. I didn't find one, but I did find many comments from unhappy ASUS wners who reported dismal customer service. I wish I had read those comments before buying this machine.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear that you are getting some type of tingling in your hands. Have you tried grounding yourself to see if the tingling has disappeared.

4 out of 5 eggsFancy

Pros: -Battery Life (4~8hrs 7hrs avg)
-Backlit Keyboard white 4settings(off light medium high)
-Ease of upgrade single panel easy access to drive and ram (upgraded to 120gb SSD, 6gb fine for now)
-price @5oo was great
-3210m a marked improvement over 3110m
-blutooth, hdmi, usb 3.0

Cons: -touch pad gestures are fun, but mistouch and lack of precision make this thing annoying (easy fix w a m525 3yr battery mouse)
-mine came with a defect in the left ctrl button. when i press it down it occasionally sticks. This minor defect was not worth the hassle of dealing w rma or repair especially when it will probably fix itself after using it for a while. It is the only reason i docked an egg.

Other Thoughts: -Overall this was a perfect solution to make me mobile. I can play most games on low to medium settings. Even arkham asylum was playable on low everything.
-Its great to be able to unplug this from the wall and not worry about the battery.
.
-I can recommend this comfortably for anyone that needs a pc to run anything and everything with mobility: classroom, travel, business, pleasure. If you need high end gaming/cad then you buy a desktop/workstation/gaming laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsbest laptop I've ever had

Pros: Battery life
Lightweight
Fast
Does everything I need it to

Cons: And nothing I don't

Bloat ware. Easily fixed.

Other Thoughts: I'm in nursing school and I needed something on a budget but that could also get the job done. I also needed something reliable. I'm glad I went with asus. What a great laptop. Newegg as always was great. Will def recommend to others.

3 out of 5 eggsMy Last Asus

Pros: Small and light

Cons: Had to resort to a handheld mouse. The mouse did not feel natural and too many settings to configure to make it OK. Also had constant problems with Google Chrome zooming as I worked. A nice feature but too sensitive for my use.

Came loaded with a bunch of asus software so spent many hours uninstalling.

Very slow but good for the kids.

Other Thoughts: I should have gotten a Chromebook or the Surface.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear that the mouse was too sensitive. Yes there are many settings to remove the gestures on the track pad. We also have a support link which you can go to to see if updating the bios and drivers will resolve the sensitivity issue with the track pad.
