2 out of 5 eggs9 months after purchase it is nothing more than a brick.

Pros: Cheap. Does basic web surfing without any problems. handles day to day school work with ease.

Cons: the charging system where that cord plugs into the laptop started messing up about a month ago and would only work if you held it just right. last week it failed completely. I purchased this notebook at the same time as a friend because of the deal (his notebook will no longer recognize wifi) so I took his power cord just to make sure it wasn't mine. no change. so after 9 months of use the only thing i can do to operate it is charge the battery in his that he no longer uses because he can't get it on the internet and swap them out when it dies after about 45 min.

Other Thoughts: you get what you pay for $300 might seem like a great buy but paying that every year i should have spent the $1000 and gotten one that would last 4 years.

1 out of 5 eggsAbsolute Junk!

Pros: Price

Cons: Multiple boot issues, won't power on. Lasted less than six months. Very poor value. Wish I hadn't bought this laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsShould have bought 2

Pros: Excellent machine for $289. Can't beat it. It's not a Core i3 processor, but still performs great. Neat Asus software package to play with the camera.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: My daughter's old Compaq Evo 510c finally gave up the ghost while I was out of the country last year. After searching for a replacement mainboard, I found this Asus laptop here on Newegg for $289. My only mistake was not buying a second one at the same. Great machine.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great machine for the specs. I have always been satified with my refurbished purchases from newegg.com.

Cons: Within 60 days started experiencing BSOD. Tech support asked that I try a system restore before sending back via RMA.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: This is a solid little machine, especially for the price. I fixed it up with an SSD and added Win8, it is blazing fast. Perfect for wife's light use.

Cons: Usual windows headaches upgrading, but the machine itself worked fine. It feels kind of light and cheap compared to more expensive laptops or a tablet, but functions well.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible

Pros: It turned on.

Cons: Constantly freezes and fraught with error messages. When it does work, it processes so slow it might as well not work. RETURNING IT.

2 out of 5 eggsCame Without Battery

Pros: Well built. Attractive.

Cons: Came without a battery.

Other Thoughts: I've always had great luck with the refurbished products I've purchased through Newegg; and I knew I was taking a risk. However, by selling me a refurbished product, the seller must acknowledge the potential risk for missing eggs in my review.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for the Price

Pros: Intel 2.2Ghz Dual Core Processor, 4Gb Ram, 320Gb hdd, HDMI, USB 3.0 (1) and Windows 7 64-bit. There isn't much not to like about this laptop new, even less to complain about the awesome price on the factory reconditioned unit. I know buying refurb is a gamble - but this is one that has really paid off for me. The unit I received looks and functions as if brand new. Cosmetics of the lid, frame and screen are Grade A perfect. I stressed the laptop for 24 hours, ran disk health checks and everything works perfectly. I'm really happy with this purchase and highly recommend if they come back in stock. Whoever is reconditioning for Asus is doing an outstanding job (and this is coming from a guy who works in that industry).

Cons: Some may complain about the fairly small number of USB ports (2 total), but for the price that is something I can overlook. While the laptop isn't completely infested with bloatware, there are still more Asus utilities than most folks would want or need. You can remove them or do like me and install a fresh copy of Windows 7 64-bit SP1 and call it done. A total of 76 processes running if you leave it in stock form, but even those 76 processes don't eat a ton of your memory (about 21 - 22%)

Other Thoughts: If doing a fresh install I'd recommend skipping the Asus Toolkit (ATKPackage). You won't be able to use the majority of the available Asus "utilities", but it does trim the running processes down to around 50 after anti-virus installation. I gave the laptop a test drive "as received" and it still felt very responsive even with all of the stock apps running, but I'm a bare bones kind of user. All in all, this is a great laptop considering the purchase price.
