Perfectly balanced for both personal and professional use, the ASUS U47A-BGR4 Notebook pushes the boundary of what you have expected from such a thin, lightweight notebook. The cutting edge Intel Core i7 processor with abundant memory capacity empowers you to rip through the most demanding digital tasks fast and smoothly. Premium quality aluminum construction contributes to feather-light design, and looks great even whether in formal or causal occasions. It's also extreme strong and durable, so you can rest assured that your notebook can always stand up to life's bumps and bruise whether at home or on the go.

  • newegg Driving power Standard voltage CPUs offer unmitigated computing performance in a compact form factor, with the U47 now featuring powerful yet power-efficient Intel Core i7 2640M processors. Everything from business multitasking to premium multimedia entertainment runs faster and smoother, aided by Integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000. Combined, these power features turn the U47 into a versatile and capable notebook that can easily handle productivity, leisure, and even gaming.
  • newegg Elegant and slim aesthetics The great power of the U47 is matched by its looks, which center on an ultra-thin profile which looks amazing. By using aluminum, engineers have been able to achieve a light notebook that weighs under 2Kg, while retaining extreme durability for those who are always on the move. This strength extends to the screen, which uses reinforced glass to resist pressure and damage: also ideal for travelers. Adding an artistic touch, the aluminum cover presents a finely-etched brushed hairline finish, while the keyboard uses a seamless one-piece design for an improved tactile experience that is also more precise and reliable. Further meticulous engineering has resulted in a very thin bezel (or margin) around the 14” screen, allowing it to fit in a chassis smaller than many 13”-paneled notebooks.
  • newegg Empower the professional U While offering superior multimedia, the U47 was designed with extensive business and professional use in mind, and is thus a smooth multitasker. It comes with a slew of features that support presentations and information sharing, plus offers an always attractive notebook that looks great in even the most formal occasions. The screen is especially important, using anti-glare materials for better viewing by several people and fingerprint resistance to keep it neat and clear. The clickpad has been enhanced with more intuitive gesture input.

1 out of 5 eggsgarbage

Pros: none

Cons: I understand this is a refurbished computer, but I expect it it work, it didnt work properly out of the box, contacted ASUS for repair, they had me sent it to the wrong address,
I found this after a week, then started aseries of calls for the next three weeks trying to find the status of the repairs, they couldnt find the computer, didnt know the status, had no update as to the status, couldnt give me anyway to contact the repair facility for a status, the call center is in the carribean, the repair centeris in California,
ASUS has had the computersince Mar 4 and as of Mar 26 they still dont know anything about it.

Other Thoughts: not would I not recomend this brand, or any other refurbished computer from newegg

5 out of 5 eggsVery satisfied

Pros: Pretty powerful little unit. Perfect for what I was looking for.
Having the i7 and 8GB RAM is nice. Plenty of power for what I needed it for. Great price, as well. I haven't had issue with the keyboard, nor trackpad.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: Packaging very spare. Unit came with fingerprints and some small smudges on the exterior, but nothing that couldn't be cleaned up with a soft rag.
I did have to reconfigure the settings on the trackpad to better suit my needs, but that was simple.

4 out of 5 eggsMy Experiences

Pros: Fast, good audio, runs modern games fine on low and medium graphics settings easily. Back lit keyboard with a nice feel when typing. ( I've noticed my typing has gotten faster compared to previous laptop.)

Cons: the screen gives off an odd background from not having a glass sheet, pixels easily visible/ noticeable. Fans sound noticeable when on lap or running modern games. The build is somewhat flimsy and makes noises when grabbed occasionally, yet handles travel fine.

Other Thoughts: You should look into the newer 1920 by 1080p models. If you get it it'll be very fast to begin with then after more usage and add-ons, its speed slows to speed a third that of its origins. You can't not notice this cut. The model has definite potential however.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop for the money

Pros: Size, Speed, Beefy Hardware, backlit keyboard, battery life

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: Love this laptop, everything about it from the hardware to the software is great. Once you get it, run windows update and you'll be all set. Was a little hesitant about a refurb, but extremely glad I did it.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat choice for many

Pros: fast i7 CPU with VT options to improve virtual machine performance. runs very cool, sleeps and wakes very quickly, aluminum cover feels sturdy, great condition, no sign that it's refurbished, large HD and memory, lighted keyboard with large legible letters, compact size

Cons: packaging is very sparse, plain box with the unit, power supply, battery and one printed sheet whose information turns out not to be correct. Manual is on the laptop and available from ASUS but it does not cover all the ASUS utilities. drive is 5400 rpm, only a dual core i7 but still faster than the i5's, space bar occasionally needs a little more pressure to register

Other Thoughts: This is a great choice for a great many people. Lots of power and practical benefits at a reasonable price, even lower now. If it got stolen today, I'd buy the same model tomorrow. I have not had issues with the trackpad. Except for high end gaming or say video editing which would benefit from 2 more cores, this machine will do the job and in a way you'll appreciate.

4 out of 5 eggsGood with minor flaws

Pros: Excellent computing power for the price; large hard drive; minimal bloatware; relatively quiet; seems solid so far.

Cons: Poorly designed, over-sensitive track pad (I use a mouse so no big deal, but otherwise typing longer documents is very difficult since the mouse is so close to the keyboard and I was constantly hitting it accidentally). DVD drive is also poorly placed and pops open often when adjusting the computer - really just a minor annoyance, but still an annoyance.

Other Thoughts: ASUS should fire their designer over that track pad, but other than that I think you'd be hard pressed to get this much computing power for this price. Not a gaming machine, but can handle lower end games with ease and higher end ones on low settings. Overall happy with my purchase and of course newegg was great.
