5 out of 5 eggsGreat Tablet!

Pros: Honestly, i was skeptical about purchasing a REFURBISHED tablet. I really wanted the Tegra processor, and was about to go ACER. Now, i couldn't be more happy. The one thing i didnt know was there is no internal SD card slot. So the 32gb is all u get ,except for adding a USB adapter and a thumb drive or external HDD. Regardless, great looking, PERFECT condition, I wouldn't be able to tell it was refurbished vs a new one. I would certainly buy another, another great New Egg purchase!

Cons: No internal SD card for added storage, but can be rectified with a USB adatper.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat for the First Month

Pros: Handy Size, plenty quick for browsing, 32gb was plenty of storage

Cons: Dead after a month. even after fully charged for days, still will not turn on. seems to be a common problem with the 2012 nexus 7.

Other Thoughts: luckily it died within the 90 day period and after they verify when I purchased it, they will hopefully send me a RMA.(showed not covered in their system, but I bought it less than 90 days ago). Wish that instead of getting another Nexus 7 2012, I could just pay to upgrade to the new Nexus so I don't have this problem anymore.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsmy mistake... ghost touch issues

Pros: i thought i was saving money...

Cons: Asus tech support is horrid... kept me on the phone for 1hr and will still not issue me an rma... not in data base.. what.. the phone support was not helping... i hope they honor their 90 day warranty... this touch screen issue is awful makes the device useless..... ball is your court asus do the right thing...

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsExceeds Expectations

Pros: Updated to Android 4.3 effortlessly, Google Nexus device = Google updates, lots of memory (for my use), great deal for the price

Cons: Not the absolute latest and greatest hardware (which is fine with me - but can upgrade to the latest software which is what counts).

Other Thoughts: Received a visually near perfect, NOT rooted device (the reviews scared me). Also bought the official dock which looks and works very well, intented use is to live on our kitchen counter to control our Sonos system (Sonos for Android), media center (using the Logitech Harmony Smart Control), and whereever else it takes us - we'll see.

2 out of 5 eggsbuy a new one, stay away from this Refurbished-one

Pros: I have been a happy Newegg customer for a long time until this tablet came to me.

Cons: device appeared Used a lot, scratches on the surrounding edge, Dead pixel at the left upper comer.
Customer have to be really lucky to receive a good condition one from them according to other newegg reviews.

Other Thoughts: Why I have to pay shipping charge for a defective item back to newegg?
The real item price will be higher after finishing RMA with newegg with all shipping fee.
As I said stay away from this refurbish item, get a new one, (more warranty, brand new, - battery -hardware.)

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Ming,

Thank you for the positive review. I apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. We do have a quality system in place, the cosmetic issue you have seen on the tablet is an isolated case. If you need further assistance please email be at cl-rodel@asus.com and write service# 2999956 in the subject line.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

Rodel

1 out of 5 eggsUmm...

Pros: Loved the tablet, was excellent for about the first hour I had it.

Cons: Practically DOA, wouldn't charge, lasted an hour and then refused to power on even when plugged in (screen lit up but still black)

Will phone in for an RMA, hopefully it ships before I leave for South America next month.

Other Thoughts: Refurb is always a toss up, hopefully the replacement will come in time.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Alek,

I'm glad that you love the tablet. We normally recommend charging the battery fully before using it. Please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com if you need further assistance.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

4 out of 5 eggsGood looking unit, Minor Annoyances

Pros: It works! Unit in excellent condition, clean and with no scratches. Boots up with Android 4.1 but 4.3 comes OTA. Stock ROM is really nice. WiFi is much better than my phone and it is fast. Nice bright display. Pretty good speakers too. Watching Netflix is a joy.

Cons: First Unit arrive DOA so it toke an extra week to get here + It got cheaper (Iron Egg?!!) + Return shipping = $20 on the total order Grrrr!!!!! Some minor design things like the phone jack in on the bottom so you can't rest it on you lap while using head phone, & Bluetooth would no pair with my keyboard (fix with custom ROM) No HDMI but really for a $200 tablet? Some of the Google apps like Music really needs the network connection to work right, but there are other apps out there.

Other Thoughts: Totally hack able! Rooting is a breeze, lots of custom ROMs out there. My current ride is CyanogenMod 10.2 nightly. Fixes a lot of annoyances and boots up really fast. Will not be returning this tablet ;)

1 out of 5 eggsReceived a rooted device

Pros: Cheap, Hardware was in good condition, aside from the serial number being almost worn off, the device appeared brand new. Came with power adapter/usb cord.

Cons: Device arrived rooted with some weird Android developer build. No play store or ability to attach the device to a google account. Called Google and tried multiple factory resets and after an hour they put me through to ASUS. After being on the phone with ASUS for another hour they had me RMA it. Another 10 days of waiting :(

Other Thoughts: Not worth the hassle, buy the full price one or risk getting a rooted device and having to RMA it. I am lucky the serial number is still barely visible because without it the warranty would have been void.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear you received a rooted device. All of our refurbished products should have a factory image installed into the tablet. I’m not sure how that made it passed our QC. Either way, I certainly apologize for the inconvenience. Your serial number can actually be found from within the o/s under the About Tablet section, so even if the sticker were to come off, we would not void the warranty.

I would recommend exchanging it for another one, but if you can’t, a reinstallion of the o/s is all that’s needed if you were to RMA it. If you wish to go the RMA route, please contact cl-jolene@asus.com and we can help get you set up with one.

Best Regards,

Tien

5 out of 5 eggs150 bucks for a mint cond nexus

Pros: its pure android.. its still a very good reference device.. all the problems with lag seem to be addressed with JB 4.3. very happy with it.. it came is new condition not a mark on it.. it seems to give me any where from 10 to 15 hrs of battery time it runs every app i can find.. has plenty of storage.. sure the new ones have a better display.. but i have a nook hd so i use that for reading and stuff.. i use this mostly for plex remote, xbmc remote and gtv remote.. 5 stars.. i will skip this next gen nexus and wait for the next round.. the old nexus will do just fine...

Cons: it was not new.. so not much of a warranty.. knock wood i will not have to use what little warranty it has.

Other Thoughts: i tend to believe that refurbished is a great deal.. i guess it all depends on the refurb service... you never know who is doing the work... but on the nexus it was first rate...
