1 out of 5 eggsdo not DO NOT *DO NOT* buy this laptop!!!!

Pros: the price is pretty good at first glance

Cons: the touchpad is a real challenge, and suffers from a defect that anifests when the power cord is plugged in to charge the battery. the mouse will go jumping around clicking on things randomly. when this happens do the following: unplug the power cord. that will immediately fix whatever power short is causing the mousepad to misbehave. however if the laptop is low on battery youll want to plug the power cord back in and use a USB mouse while it charges. be prepared to reboot your wireless router daily. the keyboard is difficult to use. the speakers are on the bottom of the laptop, muffled soundis the result. windows 8 is a challenge as well. all in all this is a very challenging laptop experience. to be quite frank you would be wise to choose a different laptop.

Other Thoughts: avoid this laptop!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I apologize for the issues that you are having with your laptop. If your mouse is only acting up when the power plug is in, try changing the power profiles on the computer. Change it so that the profile is the same regardless of if it is plugged in or not. See if that helps. If you would like further support, or if you have any other issues that would like addressed, please e-mail me at cl-tien@asus.com. I’ll be happy to help.

Best Regards,

Tien

1 out of 5 eggsNew Laptop

Pros: Windows 8 makes this computer un-usable. This device is a money trap. Don't buy it...EVER.

Cons: EVERYTHING! The hardware is as advertised, but the OS makes this thing a "Paperweight" at BEST...

Other Thoughts: Why would anyone EVER use Windows 8?

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I apologize for your dissatisfaction with the laptop. Are you having any problems with the operating system? If you would like some assistance, I can be reached at cl-tien@asus.com. I’ll be more than happy to help make your laptop less of a “paperweight”.

Best Regards,

Tien

5 out of 5 eggsGood Laptop Overall

Pros: Good Specs for the price, runs very smoothly and it is great for school. Very light and great design i love the black design. I learned Windows 8 and it is not bad at all, although it has a learning curb, touch pad on it is nice and big.The best part of this computer is the i3 processor even though it is second gen it is still overall a great processor for the budget minded.

Cons: The battery is not as good it is Up to 4 hours but on the internet is more like 3 or so. The price is a little expensive.

2 out of 5 eggsASUS F55C-TH31

Pros: Works great on school...thats it...if it doesnt crash

Cons: IDK if i'm just bad luck and got the black sheep out of all the ASUS F55C-TH31 but this la ptop creashes over and over and over andover and over again. Its annoying. I think i wasted my money on this laptop; also, windows 8 sucks!

1 out of 5 eggsPLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS LAPTOP!

Pros: It has a nice look to it.

Cons: Almost everything. The windows continually does not respond. Most of the programs do not respond, leading to frozen screens. It does not allow me to play DVD's without freezing. When I close a web browser it will not allow me to reopen the web browser without restarting the computer. (I have tried Chrome, IE, and Opera) I have to restart the laptop about 10 times a day to be able to open the applications that I want.

Other Thoughts: I wanted an upgrade from my already slow PC, but I ended up with a downgrade. It may just be my laptop that is faulty, but I wouldn't take the chance on this laptop.

1 out of 5 eggsslow wi-fi

Pros: I like the computer so far with the exception of the speed. I bought a new computer because my old dell was getting very slow. This one is even slower when I try to search the internet or log into any internet site.
Dissappointed because the reason for the purchase was to speed up not slow down my access to the internet.

Cons: WIN 8 and speed

1 out of 5 eggsNo Windows 7

Pros: None unless you like windows 8.

Cons: Bought this thinking I was able to downgrade it to windows 7 being there were drivers for it on the asus website.
WHAT A MISTAKE!
Contacted asus and they said that microsoft will not let you downgrade to windows 7 and when I asked why they offered windows 7 drivers for this exact same model of laptop he stated that there was this model out there with windows 7 on it.
Then I asked if that is the case then why can't I downgrade it and he could not give me a straight answer, just the run around.
I took the drive out and formatted it completely and still cannot get windows 7 to install, it freezes at the starting windows screen when I am trying to install it. Tried a different drive just to make sure that wasn't the problem and same result.
If this is something that microsoft is responsible for then it should be illegal to force people to use newer operating systems and I will be checking into this with the BBB.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: It looks awesome
The keyboard is nice and comfortable with a number pad
The mouse pad is way better than most of the laptops of the same price
It's some what light
The screen is alright (both a pro and con)

Runs games fine for integrated graphics:
LoL Mid high: 45FPS
Minecraft Medium: 40FPS

All the games I play using this laptop.

Cons: You can hear the fans sometimes. I'm used to having an ultra quiet setup, my main build is dead silent.
The mouse pad (tho great) needs some tweaking, update the drivers and make sure you download the asus updates one's too.
The screen is alright (Both a con and pro)
No matter what, I think it's overpriced for the specs... but any lower than 400$ and you get some really horrible ones.

Other Thoughts: If you need a nice reliable laptop, for school, light gaming, and the interwebs than consider this laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Machine

Pros: Great price point with promo code, good specs, runs cool with fan on side, nice case, good build quality, great battery life, comfortable sitting on your lap. Has all the bells, whistles and performance that a tablet can't deliver. I have been using asus motherboards forever so expect the same level of quality here and have not been disappointed thus far. Got it in 2 days from Newegg. I personally prefer the laptop design better than full, non RT, W8 tablets for multitasking and ergonomics.

Cons: not a touchscreen but knew that, windows 8 (can always run classic shell or go backwards to W7.

Other Thoughts: Wifi had limited access and random disconnects. Disabled link layer topology in wireless adapter properties and problem solved.
