1 out of 5 eggsLess Than a Year Later

Pros: Comes with the dock

Cons: The touch screen does not always respond. Apps disappear. Will not always refresh. Screen freezes up.
Those are just a few.

Other Thoughts: ZERO STARS.
I have written other reviews on this tablet.
I have had this tablet less than a year and it is a nightmare. Within 2 months it had to be shipped to Asus for repair. Recently, I had to restore the settings back to when it was first purchased. I was only able to back up some of my pictures and documents. I lost all the rest.
This tablet remains the worst purchase I have ever made.
Customer support is not helpful at all.
I will never purchase anything with the Asus name on it again.

1 out of 5 eggsTech fail.

Pros: Very good andriod tablet.
Keyboard was a huge plus.

Cons: Screen cracked due to what I think is thermal expansion. After an ice storm knocked out power in my house the temperature plummeted. Tablet was fine when I left it, but when I came back after power went out there was an almost perfect circular crack in the top left corner of the screen making it useless. After talking to live IM and call support they told me it was going to cost $230 because what had happened wasn't covered under warranty.

Other Thoughts: Will be at least another two weeks before I could even think about sending it in.

Pros: Great when it works

Cons: Touch screen unreliable. Battery drains too quickly. Had to be repaired in the first two months and now I'm having another problem less than a month of having it back.

Other Thoughts: I am truly sorry that I purchased this Asus tablet. I'm getting tired of having to go out and purchase packing materials and boxes to ship the tablet back to a repair center. It costs me $25 to pack and ship.

2 out of 5 eggsDon't Waste Your Money

Pros: Dock comes with it.

Cons: Problems after less than 2 months.
Customer service STINKS!

Other Thoughts: I only had the Tablet for less than 2 months and started having problems. After emailing tech support, I had to send the tablet in for repairs. At this time, no one can tell me the status of the repairs.
Customer support is terrible and I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings Wende,

I apologize for the customer support. I would be extremely disappointed at this point if I went through the same experience.

If I may, I would like to look into this case further. Please send me an email including both the serial number for the device and the RMA number recently used. Once I have this information, I would be happy to provide you with an update. My email is

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: Well built
Nice screen
Battery in keyboard extends time between charges
SD card and USB port in keyboard in addition to microSD port in the tablet itself
HDMI output
Supported by Asus with firmware updates
Supported by Cyanogenmod with firmware

Cons: Stock firmware (Ice Cream Sandwich) crashes frequently. Many apps crash when running on the stock firmware. Those problems are largely fixed by updating to the latest (Jellybean) firmware.

Sluggish performance at times, especially when background updates are running. There are frequently times when the tablet does not respond to a touch for tens of seconds.

The battery continues to drain even when the tablet is sleeping. For example, with the keyboard connected and the screen closed, I often find the battery drained at the end of the day even though I haven't been using the tablet for anything! If I leave the tablet sitting for a couple of days I'll have to charge it up before I can use it.

Sometimes the battery does not charge even with the charger connected. I plug the charger in and the battery status does not change to charging. This doesn't happen every time, but it happens frequently.

The batteries are non-replaceable.

The touchscreen behaves oddly at times. Sometimes it responds as if touched even though my finger is simply hovering over the screen. At other times I have to touch the screen repeatedly to get a response.

No haptic feedback. The touchscreen problems might be a little more bearable if I had some indication that the screen had been touched. It sure would be nice if the screen vibrated when it registers a touch.

Android is poorly adapted for use with a keyboard, at least for someone used to Windows & Linux. My biggest irritation here is that hitting the tab key while filling in a web or app form does not move me to the next field. Instead it inserts a tab into the field.

Other Thoughts: I'm not sure how many of the cons listed above are Android problems and how many are TF300T problems. There are many things to like about this tablet, but it could be so much better with a little polishing.

I can't decide which is worse, the battery dying even though I'm not using the device, or the slowing to a crawl whenever an app update is downloading in the background. It seems to me that Asus could have done a much better job of tuning the firmware for this device.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello David,

Thank you very much for your review. We value all of our customers' feedback and this is no exception. I am sorry that you do not like tablet due to its performance.

If I may, I do have a question: Does the battery drain quickly when not connected to the keyboard, or does this only happen when connected with docking station?

If you plug in the tablet to its docking station, the battery should be about 15 hours. If it is much less than this time, there is a chance the battery for the tablet or the docking station is defective.

Please contact me through email including both the serial number for the tablet and the docking station, and I will be able to help further. My email is

5 out of 5 eggsGreat option

Pros: Detachable keyboard, speed, size, speaker, functionality

Cons: Currently there are no available protective cases that I've been able to find.

Other Thoughts: I've been building computers for years, but have gotten out of the tech world for the past several years and am more of an average user now. I put this on our universal wedding registry for my wife as she's been wanting a tablet to help for music lessons and overall business organization. Her siblings pooled together and got it as a wedding gift. She's been extremely happy with it and comments often about how nifty it is.

The detachable keyboard was a selling point to me. It makes the tablet a much more functional laptop replacement, especially for my wife's small hands. She had a netbook before and liked it, so this tablet combines the best of both worlds. Kudos to Asus!

4 out of 5 eggsLike The Table, Don't Like ASUS Support

Pros: I like the tablet and docking station. It has everything I wanted and works well. I especially like having the mini-HDMI port on the tablet and the USB port on the docking station. Picture and sound quality are very good, even with a carrying/protective case on it. I say all this even after the docking station quit working after one day. It is now repaired and works well, but see my con about ASUS support.

Cons: My con is ASUS Support or lack thereof. This was noted in other reviews I read before I purchased the product. The docking station died after one day of use. The tablet wouldn't work when attached to it and the station wouldn't take a battery recharge. ASUS tech support agreed, after a long conversation, to take it in for repairs under the warranty. They had me send it to a repair facility that, co-incidentally, is only a 15 minute drive from my house. Fed-Ex tracking showed the docking station arrived at the repair facility on the morning of Friday, April the 5th. For two weeks, until Friday, April 19th ASUS could not even tell me that they had my docking station, let alone when it would be repaired. Their own protocol is to acknowledge receipt of the item with 48-72 business day hours after the item arrives at the facility and have the repair completed and ready to ship back to the owner within 7 business days after the item arrives. It's a long story why this all happened, but basically it's incompetence in the ASUS support and repair system. The only people you can talk to are at two facilities in Jamaica. They are very nice, but they can do NOTHING to help you except say they are sorry for the problem. They can't even call the repair facility themselves to find out what is going on. So, after six phone calls to Jamaica, including talking to three different "supervisors" who supposedly were expediting and escalating my problem, to a "higher level" I got some action. On Monday April 22nd, they acknowledged having my docking station and starting repairs. I got it back on Thursday April 25th, almost three weeks after they received it.

Other Thoughts: By all accounts from the techies I talked to, ASUS makes excellent components and products, but Customer Support and their repair system is a big problem for them. Based on my experience I couldn't agree more. Not sure if I will buy another ASUS product or not.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Product/Price

Pros: Seems Fast, has the apps i wanted, i really like the keyboard and how sturdy it feels when its connected. connects to my wifi with no issues. this is my first tablet but im very happy with it so far

Cons: haven't found any yet. addressing others' concerns; there were no broken pixels in mine like other said and it only takes like 6-8 hours to charge fully with the keyboard attached.

Other Thoughts: like i said, its my first tablet so i dont have much to compare it to. i have a good PC and i think this officially took over my laptop needs. and as a side note, i picked the newegg delivery, i ordered it late saterday night, and got it at noon on monday. <--amazed
