1 out of 5 eggsLemon

Pros: First of all, I am a ASUS fan - usually I just love the high quality of ASUS products. This is a rare exception. This is a cheap low-end 7 inch android. I purchased mainly for kid's use only, not expecting high standard: light use in gaming and educational apps with multimedia only . . . it barely met my needs.

Cons: Low-end processor (single-core) and only 500MG RAM. Lots of apps are not compatible against this device. The tab is no good except kid's use as a just a "toy" . . . died after 5 months. This device is a lemon and total waste of money - I'll never recommend to anyone. Go step up to Memopad HD7 - perhaps 10 times better (I own one for myself and I love it).

Other Thoughts: The battery charger automatically boot-up device (annoying) when connected to the power source (android issue, perhaps). Unless you completely turn off the device, it'll take forever to fully recharge. As you use the device, even while you are charged, the battery slowly discharges. Battery life is just terrible (lasts max 3 hours of light use): this is so unbelievable quality as n ASUS product - just pure "LEMON" device. I seriously recommend ASUS to stop selling this piece of junk.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for being an ASUS fan and loving ASUS high-quality products. I do understand your concern regarding the issues with the tablet. Updating the Android OS to the latest version improves system stability and performance. The issue with the battery is an isolated case. If you need further assistance, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and write down service# 3544067 on the subject line.

1 out of 5 eggsAsus pad

Pros: Don't work

Cons: We charge for 6 h still don't work Return to Newegg

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Chris,

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product. I'm sorry if the tablet doesn't work after being charged for 6 hours. Please verify the USB cable and AC adapter are securely connected from the tablet to a working surge protector or an AC outlet. Please press the power button all the way down to turn on the system successfully. If I can be of further assistance on your next ASUS product purchase, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and write down service# 3246783 on the subject line.

Regards,

3 out of 5 eggsExcellent, but....

Pros: looks good, hardware works great. a good starter android, reasonable battery life, lightweight, handles well.

Cons: I'm not sure whether I'll buy another android -- when I started to upgrade apps I got a message that doing so gave Google the rights to all my data, my contacts, and moreover gave them the right to delete my internal drive as wells as my attached 32G flash MicroSD card.....no way...

Other Thoughts: I have an iconia Win7 tablet, and this Asus memo is much easier to play around with, not much for serious work. But the iconia is clunky, 10" heavier

My next tablet I'm leaning toward an Acer Iconia 510 Win 8

5 out of 5 eggsGift for Mom

Pros: looks great. from google play, installed chromecast, youtube, skype, and facebook for my mom. play angrybird and other light games (where is my water) no problem. decent speakers to play music and listen to radio too.

Cons: no bluetooth. camera is only on one side.

Other Thoughts: surprised this is a fairly solid built tablet under $100 dollars. screen is very sharp, swiping feels smooth, keyboard is responsive. gotta charge it for about 4hrs for the first use, and then it pops up system upgrade. (to 4.1.1) upgrade and restart, no problem.

nice gift for parents/children and decent gift for your friends. don't feel cheap at all. bought two of MeMos a week before thanksgiving and arrived within 2 days.

5 out of 5 eggsTool...NOT a toy!

Pros: I own a computer shop in Southwest Missouri. I have now sold six of these MeMO Pads. My customers love them! It is very fast, connects to WiFi seamlessly and stays connected! Downloads install without errors and games play perfectly.

Cons: My ONLY negative would be the price. Since these are becoming more popular, I cannot find them in bulk-packaged price. I have to buy them one or two at a time and charger more for them.

Other Thoughts: These are equal in performance to the first Nexus series pads I got in a few years ago.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than it should be, at the current prices.

Pros: While it's not blindingly fast, the performance is more than adequate, especially since it's only a single core device. Video plays crystal clear and smoothly with the addition of a better app than the standard player. I got the free MX video player. The size is perfect for a coat pocket. I can make free calls using Google phone with Talkatone as long as a wifi source is nearby. Glass screen is durable but a fingerprint magnet. Size and weight are not class leaders unless you consider the MeMo's class is now sub-100 dollar 16GB tablets.

Cons: OK, some detractors have mentioned that the screen has poor viewing angles, poor outdoor performance and a somewhat low screen resolution. I have noticed all of these things but none of them should be a deal breaker if you're in the market for a sub $100 tablet. You wouldn't even notice these things if you never compared it to another, pricier tablet. The rear facing, lower volume, mono speaker kinda sucks but, again, no deal breaker. There IS Play Store access but some apps can't be downloaded. The things that really compromises the usability are the absence of a GPS and Bluetooth, however, for some people even that wont matter. Millions of NoName Chinese knock-off tablets are sold even with the same or worse detractions and those frequently have less memory, slower processors and less RAM.

Other Thoughts: I've been surprisingly happy with my MeMo since I got it. Battery life is decent and it normally goes all day without a charge. I found that with a small USB adapter, I can plug in either a flash drive or my 500GB portable hard drive which is great for view videos. As a first time tab or for someone who isn't quite sure that a $250 unit's cost can be justified, this is a great deal on a name brand unit. Kind of a poor man's Google Nexus 7. Combined with my cell phone's 3g I have a go anywhere internet tool that big enough to see.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic for the Price

Pros: Nothing better for the $90 + price that I paid. Want to spend $250 and you will get something faster.
Works great and you can get apps from Google Play.
Excellent battery life.
Comes with many useful programs.

Cons: Can't use Java with Android.
Only has back facing camera.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Value

Pros: Great handling, quality construction, super sharp resolution. Fast!

Cons: n/a

Other Thoughts: Very impressive little tablet. Substantial gadget. I love the pre-loaded apps, and that Kindle is the first. I downloaded my books from Kindle immediately. Ease of getting on-line was impressive as well. Super-fast connectivity to my wireless router at home. I am very glad that I made this purchase. Tablets have come a long way in the past couple of years. No need to spend the extra moola - this is is the right one.
