5 out of 5 eggsAsus G75 G75VW Notebook

Pros: Excellent Gaming Laptop!! No problems at all! Had to get used to Windows 8 but you can put windows 7 on this laptop as well too. Excellent bang for the buck

Cons: Weight but not really a big deal

Other Thoughts: Laptop was much more than I thought I would receive for less than $1000. I have built computers for almost 30 years, but mostly desktops and this is the best deal for the money and quality. Just remember to do your updates like on any computer. And don't listen to other Reviews this is a great laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: This model provides drivers supporting Windows 7. It also has a great anti glare screen and lighted keyboard. both features make using this laptop perfect for all lighting environments. It also comes with dual hard drive capability including the hard drive caddy for a second drive and will run a 7200 RPM drive. My computing usage is mostly video editing and rendering along with 3D creation, something this model does quite well. The Nvidia 660M video card comes with 2GB of DDR5 and works nearly as fast as the desk tops I've built for these uses.

Cons: None and considering that I have purchased 3 of these units and had no issues along with the fact that even though they are refurbished they are cosmetically perfect.

The only thing I had to change was the hard drives and operating system since Seagate has caused me issues in the past and Windows 8 is not designed to accomplish what I do.

Other Thoughts: I have owned other brands of laptop and none compare in terms of features, performance and stability that this model provides. I'm sure there are individuals that absolutely love Windows 8, but that just doesn't work for me. I have built over a hundred computers in the last 20 years and this compares well, especially to those which I have built recently.

I would highly recommend this model of ASUS laptop to anyone who does any serious video and 3D work. If you only use computers to socialize, than this model is over kill.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It booted up fine and was smooth when setting up windows.

Cons: I was sent a dead power brick right off the bat.

Also, the HDD that came with my refurbished laptop was a 217GB drive, not a 1TB drive as advertised.

Other Thoughts: When contacting customer service, the only options I was given was to get a refund, or hope they get another refurbished one sent to me (they were out of stock at the time). I would have accepted a slight upgrade, a comparable laptop, or the correct hard drive installed and would have been happy. Not quite sure what the point of buying a warranty was when they can't simply replace a part and send it back.

5 out of 5 eggsNinjamazing!!!

Pros: Rock solid design.
Super Fast processor.
Awesome Video Card Performance.
4 memory Slots!
Off-board Video Card
Off-board Processor
Two HDD Slots

Truly a gaming laptop on a budget.

Cons: Hardware-wise, I can't really think of any.

Other Thoughts: Let's start with the pros:
The four best pros (but not the only ones) on this laptop are:
1. It comes with 4 memory slots!
2. Off-board Video Card. This means the video card can be detached and upgraded for a better one down the road without replacing the whole motherboard.
3. Off-board processor. Same as the video card, it can be upgraded anytime you want.
4. Two HDD Slots.

Now the cons:
There's only one negative thing I can think of but I'm not sure who really blame to it (including myself)
The laptop came with Windows 8 pre-installed but believe it or not, that's not my complain (I love Windows 8 actually), my problem is the laptop didn't come with a Product Key and I didn't see that until it was too late.

There was a time where I needed to re-install Windows due to a virus I've got and I just formatted the HDD without making an image of the HDD first.
Since the laptop came with two HDD slots, I knew I had all my stuff on the secondary HDD so I formatted the primary HDD just like that.
I've done that so many times in the past I figured there was no need for it.

When I was re-installing the OS there's where the nightmare started, the laptop didn't have a Product Key on it!.
I realized that on 11/06/2013 and as of today (12/29/2013) I'm still dealing with ASUS support to find a way to get a product key and they just won't help.
Newegg just won't take responsibility either since is past the warranty period and they just washed their hands off of the problem.

To a certain degree, I feel the fault is mine because I didn't check for the Product Key's presence the day the laptop arrived. I never had a laptop purchased on Newegg that didn't have a product key on arrival before and I just trusted them. BIG MISTAKE.

Long story short, if you get a laptop from Newegg, make sure it comes with the product key on it.
You never know when you may need it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat, especially at the refurb price!

Pros: Solid, fast, reliable

Cons: Heavy and won't win any cuteness contests. Battery life even though it's practically a desktop in laptop form factor.

Other Thoughts: I'd recommend this to anyone that doesn't want to spend 2-4 grand on something where they absolutely have to have the highest frame rates on the very newest games. I haven't found a game it won't run well yet.

3 out of 5 eggsMy 30 day refurb experience

Pros: --Asus reliability since circa 2000--a dozen mobos from them between my Dad and me.
--Shipping time and quality was excellent. Unit appears to be brand new, with the exception of a partially torn off sticker on the power block, which leads me to believe that it was the problem. My guess is that it was shipped from the refurb company, with a label provided by newegg (no newegg all over the carton).
--Seems to be plenty of toll free Asus numbers, if newegg hasn't mucked that up.

Cons: --Is supposed to come with Win 8. Drive, including hidden restore partition was wiped. Quick start guide is for Win 7, and references a .pdf file that is somewhere. I have no idea where. So, quick start was NOT quick start for me. I still have not gotten into any kind of OS. It wants me to do some kind of "express or custom" install of something, not even addressed by quick start. Sorry, I don't do express of anything.
--I have not accessed anything, since quick start is mucked up. Maybe this week.

Other Thoughts: --DUNNO!!! I plan on adding to comments as I go through the refurbished product step by step.
--Will Asus or newegg comment?
--I've had newegg pull one of my negative reviews before, so I now use screen caps, which are helpful with resellerratings and my credit card company, in case of dispute. :)

3 out of 5 eggsI hope this doesn't continue

Pros: fast, big and meets all of my needs for video editing.

Cons: I have harddrive issues the day I got it and need to replace both. which sucks. I need to get a hold of Newegg and replace them.

Other Thoughts: for the price, This laptop is 10x more powerful and better than Macbook pro that everyone swears by. Trust me get this laptop.

1 out of 5 eggsAwesome looks, but having some serious cons

Pros: Awesome looks
very powerful
comfortable keyboard
nice screen

Cons: Really large, inconvenient for carrying around

Other Thoughts: I was ecstatic about this laptop, its a great deal for what it packs. Unfortunately I have been having some real issues with it since I purchased it. After about three days of ownership the screen went black. The keyboard and power still lights up, and you can still see screen if attached hdmi to monitor. After eliminating all possible problems, i decided to re install windows. Again everything was awesome, but after another day the screen went black! So I reinstalled it a third time, and again black screen after three days. My frustration with this potentially awesome laptop has lead me to not recommend this product.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

4 out of 5 eggsGreat just a little glitchy

Pros: This laptop is running very fast, and maintaining a cool temp. The screen is crystal clear and looks amazing when playing games like skyrim and world of warcraft! dont let refurbished sound scary to you. the 90 day warranty is more then enough time for if there is a problem it would go wrong. Any way asus makes amazing products and I am sure they always will. great laptop! for refurbished price or not its a great deal!

Cons: this laptop also has a few glitches that i will be calling asus to ask about. it runs great but sometimes the swipe scrolling doesn't work that good as well as when i am gaming (wirelessly) stupid college rules... I tend to lose connection and it will freeze up when that happens cause i think it simply gets confused . as well as running a lot of tasks it will sometimes freeze up but may continue working again or i might have to turn it off sometimes and i feel spending $1200 at regular price or $900 at refurbished price should be able to run a game and the internet at the same time
