5 out of 5 eggsGood unit for travel

Pros: Nice size and weight. Good display. Windows 8 and Office 2013. Decent speed and connects well

Cons: Windows 8.1 is a flawed platform

Other Thoughts: Nice unit for the money

5 out of 5 eggsME400

Pros: Great battery life, very responsive, great display, very lightweight, Office 2013 included, touch screen responsive

Cons: Lots of updates, Office 2013 not preloaded, no full size USB.

Other Thoughts: I have a Surface Pro at work so was a little leery of the Atom performance but it has been great! This device is lightweight, responsive, and at least double the battery life of my Surface.

There are lots of updates when you first get online and you have to download Office 2013 manually, but all went flawlessly. You will need adapters for mini-usb and mini-hdmi.

I have been an iPad owner from the beginning. I loved my apple devices but have grown weary of the proprietary hardware and not being able to load standard software like quicken, etc...they are available but not up to date and full featured. Windows 8 has some flaws but I am really liking it after getting used to it.

Fantastic device so far and I would definitely recommend it to a friend!

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than expected

Pros: Light, long battery life, REAL Windows 8, good performance. Office 2013 included, and a neet little smart Note app--although the included OneNote is more robust.

Cons: Needs 128GB instead of 64GB, and 2GB ram is a little stingy for Windows 8. Two instances of wireless not working AT ALL (windows unable to find even the hardware--reboot fixed this).

Planning on adding a 64GB ultra microSD card to solve the first problem. Can't solve the second.

Other Thoughts: As long as you are not expecting i7 Desktop performance, I think you will be impressed with how well this tablet performs. The response is somewhat zippy, but you will not be blown off your feet by the performance--but it is WAY better than the last atom based tablet I had. If you are new to Windows 8, you will be somewhat befuddled with Microsoft's inconsistent use of the Metro and the old desktop interfaces, but that is true of all tablets. Hopefully MS uses more of the metro interface for its software--for tablets at least. Overall, I think you will be very impressed. MUCH more useful than my android tablets (3) or my ipad (1).

5 out of 5 eggsAsus VivoTab Smart ME400C-C2-BK

Pros: Very snappy tablet with a responsive touchscreen. Has been able to run every program I have thrown at it.

Battery life is amazing.

Screen resolution is sharp, colors are great.

Cons: Did not come equipped with a flux capacitor.

Other Thoughts: I got this to replace an aging netbook and a cheap chinese android tablet. The netbook and tablet would last at most 2 hours before the batteries died. The Asus will last at least all day with my usage.

I purchased the TranSleeve cover and keyboard/touchpad. I've found that I don't use the keyboard all that much, but it great to have when you need it.

5 out of 5 eggsAsus Quality

Pros: This is a light, thin x86 tablet that rivals popular ARM tablets in style and feel. It is light enough to hold in one hand. It charges via the USB port, so no need to buy any expensive proprietary charging cables if you need more than one.

Performance is really impressive. Even though it uses an Atom CPU, it is noticeably quicker than a Lenovo Thinkpad Twist with an i3 CPU and an SSD cache drive that I previously owned. The touchscreen is very responsive and most applications open quickly.

One neat thing I noticed is that when I close the case cover (bought separately), the tablet immediately goes into sleep mode.

Cons: Asus does not offer a keyboard dock for this unit, which would have been nice. They keyboard they do offer does not actually attach to the tablet. Clearly this tablet was made to be used primarily as a tablet and not so much as a workstation.

Wireless transfers seem slow when compared to other wireless devices I use. It's not a problem for regular web browsing, but wireless file transfers are painfully slow.

Managing files on the desktop using the touch screen can be a little tedious. Hopefully Microsoft will make the desktop more touch-friendly in future versions of Windows.

Other Thoughts: This is my fourth Windows 8 tablet, and it is my favorite one of the bunch. I have been using Asus hardware for many years and have always been impressed with their quality and value. This tablet is no exception. The more I use the tablet, the more I like it. Some subtle design choices combined with a practical, flexible operating system make this is a great product.

4 out of 5 eggsASUS ME400C Tablet

Pros: The Atom zips right along-no delays. (after a W-8 learning curve) I am loving it. Runs very cool. (way cooler than my rooted Android e-reader )

Cons: Required me to cut my index finger nail to 'swipe' effectively.

Other Thoughts: I believe this form factor is the future of personal computing. Small enough to carry conveniently, light enough to hold up, large enough to see.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Full Windows 8 experience in a tab less expensive than some Android tabs. The Intel Atom Z2760 is strong. Apps play as smooth and well as my i7 laptop with the exception of graphically intensive games. (see cons)

Cons: The GPU cant play games more intensive than minecraft.

Other Thoughts: Best tablet ive ever had by far.
